96,835 (12.8%) children 18 years old or under had ever been told by a doctor or health professional they had asthma.

Parents of 68,855 (9.1%) children reported that their child still had asthma.

Parents of 46,497 (6.1%) children reported that their child had had an episode of asthma or an asthma attack during the previous year.

State Asthma PlanState Asthma PlanPurpose: Describes what needs to be done to address asthma in Mississippi, provides an organized way for communities to deliver asthma programs, and will reduce duplication of efforts.

Process: Utilized input from all regional coalitions.  Each coalition has selected priorities for 2006 from overall plan.

Intent: Asthma partners will implement specific portions of the state plan because of their own interest in asthma.
