Association Missionary Thoughts We will have our Spring Executive Committee Meeting on the 17th at the Isle of Hope Baptist Church starting at 6:45pm. If you remember we are now only having two meetings a year. I know this falls on a Sunday night and over half of our Savannah Baptist Churches still have Sunday night services. First I praise God for
those who still have Sunday night services. Second, each Church can send their Executive Members to our Associa-tion Meeting. Actually, all are invited. Our Keynote speaker for our Spring Executive Committee Meeting is Bro. Randy Ryan from Richmond Hill. Bro. Randy is the owner of A & R Tree Service. Bro. Randy has shared his testimony in many Churches and even at a Billy Graham Crusade. Bro. Randy was at Pope Air Base in North Carolina in 1994 when an F-16 crashed close to him. God spared Randy’s life that day and God used that experience to bring Randy to Christ. You really do not want to miss hearing Bro. Randy’s testimony. Please make every effort to attend. I know you will be stirred and moved by what you will hear. Work at the Assembly continues. We now have the plumbing for the bathrooms on the cabins roughed in. Hopefully, we will have the electrical, insulation, and sheet-rock done in the next few weeks. May I say, “Praise the Lord.” Our Monday Ministers Meetings have been great. Pastors, staff and brothers in Christ sharing openly with each other about God’s blessings, gains in the ministry and even diffi-culties we face. To all of our Ministers, I really want to en-courage you to try to attend our Monday Ministers Meet-ings. I know you will be blessed. I want to Thank each and every Savannah Baptist Church for your support. May God continue to richly Bless the Sa-vannah Baptist Association. Serving Him Together, Buddy Wasson Association Missionary [email protected]
Assembly News As we mark the first day of March, I am thinking about the fact that over 16% of 2019 is already in the past. Think about that, we’re 1/6th of the way to New Year’s Eve… already!
My question for you is this: Are you 1/6th of the way toward accom-plishing what God has for you this year? Maybe you – like me – set some spiritual, physical, relational, even vocational goals way back when this new year was beginning. Well… How’s it going? If it’s not going quite like you were hoping (the average New Year’s resolution has long been abandoned), remember that it’s never too late to get back on track. With the pace of today’s society, you may have set a goal to make more space for rest this year. Or maybe you’re one of the millions who started 2019 with a health & fitness goal, to add more recreation to your routine. Perhaps one of your goals was to carve out some tech-free time to reflect – assess where you’ve been honoring God, where you’ve been falling short and seek opportunities to adjust accordingly. Final-ly, your goal may have been to simply fall more in love with Jesus and be renewed in His presence. The Assembly exists to provide a sacred space just for moments like these; to give you and your church a memorable, accessible place to find rest, recreation, reflection, and renewal. My prayer is that you would be bold in correcting your course and moving in the direction of whatever the Lord is leading you to do. Yes, we’re 16% finished with 2019, but there’s 84% still in front of us! As for my goals, they’re not all where I had hoped they’d be by now, but I’m happy to report that we have work going on almost every day to finish our new bathhouses and get the Assembly back to full over-night capacity. That leads me to share an opportunity: We’re looking for a few good (or at least willing) painters! As we work toward the home stretch of the construction that’s been ongoing, we will soon be ready to mobilize several people to come and assist with painting and a couple of similar projects around cam-pus. If you’re willing to invest your time and energy toward making the Assembly the best Kingdom asset it can be, please contact me at [email protected] or 912-667-7127. Tony’s Tidbits
February was a great month. Partnering with students to go out on campus and share the gospel has been exciting. Students are
learning to share their faith and others are hearing the gos-pel. It is a win, win situation. Being salt and light to our campus is a real joy. It is also a joy to work with the associational Collegiate Min-istry team. Recently, we partnered with some of the local student ministers to discuss the important transition of youth to college. As a result of that meeting we have set aside three nights, March 4, March 25 and April 8
th for students to
get a taste of what a college campus ministry is like. Each Monday night at 7 PM we host a coed Bible study. We want to invite our associational churches to bring their students to get a peek into college any Monday. The specific nights listed will be nights where the message would be beneficial to the youth. Pray for us in March as we have our annual Spring Break Mission trip. Students will once again be walking by faith. They sign up to go wherever they are told to go without knowing in advance. And they pay with their own money to do this. We will also be having our semester outreach meal on campus. Continue to pray for God to shine forth on our campus through our ministry.
