    National Insurance Company Limited would coordinate the written examination, thereafter, Interview and Computer Proficiency Testfor the short-listed candidates would be conducted by each Company in their respective zones where their Head Office is situated(except in certain cases).

    Abbreviations stand for: Gen -General Category; SC-Scheduled Caste; ST-Scheduled Tribe; OBC-Other Backward Classes.The reservation under various categories will be as per prevailing Government Guidelines at the time of finalisation of result.The above vacancies are provisional and may vary according to the actual requirement of the Companies at the material time..Merit list will be drawn up State-wise and Category-wise. The candidates who qualify in the pre-recruitment test and shortlisted forInterview shall have to qualify in a Computer Proficiency Test. Subsequent process of Interview and Computer Proficiency Test forthe short-listed candidates would be conducted by each Company in their respective zones where their Head Office is situated(except in certain cases). However, the Company reserve the right to alter the aforesaid arrangement.

    The salient features are given below:

    1. Scale of Pay (Pre-revision): 7640-440(1)-8080-480(2)-9040-540(5)-11740-625(2)-12990-760(3)-15270-790(2)-16850-840(5)-21050.

    2. Emoluments: Total emoluments (Pre-revision) works out to approximately Rs.15000/- per month in the initial stage in a metro city.

    Other Allowance may vary depending upon the place of posting. Apart from allowances other benefits such as lump sum domiciliary

    medical benefit, membership of Group Mediclaim Policy for Reimbursement of hospitalisation expenses, leave travel subsidy and

    other staff welfare schemes would be as per the rules of the Companies.

    3. Educational Qualification (as on 31.05.2013)

    Graduate from a recognized University ORPass in HSC/Equivalent (XII pass) examination with 60% marks (50% for Ex-servicemen, SC/ST and Persons with Disabilities);

    and Knowledge of Regional Language i.e. Language of the State of Recruitment is essential.

    4. Age (As on 30th June 2013)

    i.Minimum Age: 18 years; Maximum Age: 28 years (as on 30.06.2013). Candidates born not earlier than 1 st July 1985 and not laterthan 30th June 1995 (both days inclusive) are only eligible to apply.

    ii. The upper age limit will be relaxed as under:

    ServicemanThe maximum age may be enhanced by thenumber of years of service put in by thecandidates in the Armed Forces plus 3 years,provided that the maximum age in thesecases do not exceed 45 years.

    9. Displaced persons from East Pakistanwho have migrated to India on or after1.1.1964

    Maximum age shall be 33 years.

    10. Existing Employees of the Company 5 years

    iii.Candidates seeking age relaxation are required to submit copies of necessary certificate(s) at the time of Interview.

    iv. Cumulative age relaxation will not be available either under above items or in combination with any other item.

    5. Definition:

    Ex-Serviceman: Only those candidates shall be treated as Ex-Serviceman who fulfil the revised definition as laid down inGovernment of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms NotificationNo.36034/5/85/Estt(SCT) dated 27th October 1986 as amended from time to t ime.

    Disabled Ex-Serviceman: Ex-Serviceman who while serving in Armed Forces of the Union disabled in operation against the enemyof in disturbed areas shall be treated as Disabled Ex-Serviceman.

    Dependents of Serviceman killed in Action: Servicemen killed in the following operations would be deemed to have been killed in

    action attributable to Military Service (a) war (b) warlike operations or border skirmishes either with Pakistan on cease fire line or anyother country (c) Fighting against armed hostiles in a counter insurgency environment viz. Nagaland, Mizoram, etc. (d) Serving withpeace-keeping mission abroad (e) Laying or clearance of mines including enemy mines as also mine sweeping operation betweenone month before and three months after conclusion of an operation (f) Frost-bite during actual operations or during the periodspecified by the Government (g) Dealing with agitating Para-Military forces personnel (h) IPKF personnel killed during the operationsin Sri Lanka.

    Note: The candidates are required to submit the appropriate certificates in support of the above at the time of Interview.

    6. Reservation for Persons with Disability (PWD)Vacancies are reserved for Disabled (Physically Challenged) Persons under Section 33 of the Persons with Disabilities (EqualOpportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995 (1 of 1996) as per government guidelines. Candidates withfollowing disabilities are eligible to apply as per the definitions given in the above act:

    a) Blindness b) Low Vision c) Hearing Impairment d) Locomotors Disability or Assistant PalsyOnly such persons would be eligible for reservation in services/posts who suffer from not less than 40% of relevant disability. Aperson who wants to avail the benefit of reservation will have to submit a Disability Certificate issued by Medical Board dutyconstituted by Central or State Government. The certificate should be dated on or before last date registration of application i.e.08.06.2013.

    Candidates falling in the following categories of the disabled may apply:OA-One arm affected (Right or Left) (a) impaired reach (b) weakness of grip (c) ataxiaBL- Both legs affected but not arms, OL One leg affected (Right or Left), PD- Partially deaf, D- Deaf, B- Blind, LV- Low Vision.

    7. Use of ScribeCandidateswith disabilities who have physical limitation to write including that of speed can use his own scribe at their cost duringthe written examination or request the Examination Body to arrange the same. In all such cases where a scribe is used, the followingrules will apply;i) The scribe can be from any academic discipline.ii) The candidates have the option to change his/her scribe in case of emergency.iii) Both the candidate and the scribe should give a suitable undertaking confirming that the scribe fulfils all the stipulated eligibilitycriteria. In case it later transpires that the scribe did not fulfil the eligibility criteria or had suppressed material facts, the candidature ofthe applicant shall stand cancelled, irrespective of the result of the written examination.iv) Such candidates who use a scribe shall be eligible for compensatory time of 20 minutes for every hour of the examination.v) The candidates are allowed to use assistive devices like, tailor frame, Braille slate, abacus, geometry kit, Braille measuring tapeand augmentative communication devices like communication chart and electronic devices. But use of calculator (including talkingcalculator) is not allowed.

    8. Probation period: The newly appointed employees will be on probation for a minimum period of 6 months. Before the probationperiod comes to an end the performance of the newly recruited employees will be evaluated and the probation period of thoseemployees whose performance fails to meet Companys expectation, may be extended.

    9. Selection Procedure:All eligible candidates should apply on-line before the last date for registration of application.

    a. All candidates will have to appear for the Written examination, thereafter, candidates will be shortlisted and will be calledfor Interview and Computer Proficiency Test.

    b. Final selection will be made on the basis of performance in the Written Test, Interview and Computer Proficiency Test takentogether. Merely satisfying the eligibility norms do not entitle a candidate to be called for Written Test/Computer ProficiencyTest/Interview.

    c. The particulars of the Written Test is detailed as under:

    There will be negative marks for wrong answers in the Objective tests. 1/4 th marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.

    1. While registering the application, every candidate should indicate the name and code number of the centre where he/shedesires to take the examination.

    2. The candidates will appear for the written examination at their own expenses and risks and the Company will not beresponsible for any injury or losses etc. of any nature.

    3. No change in the choice of examination centre will be entertained.4. Company reserves the right to add or delete or alter any centre at its discretion depending upon the number of candidates

    and other relevant factors.

    5.The Company reserves the right to direct candidates to appear at a centre other than the one chosen by them for written

    examination without monetary assistance.

    13. How to apply: Guidelines for filling online application: Candidates should have valid email ID. This will help him/her in gettingcall letter/Interview advices etc. by e-mail.

    i) Candidates should first scan their photograph and signature as detailed under guidelines for scanning the photograph andsignature.(Refer point no. 14)

    ii) Candidates to visit our website www.nationalinsuranceindia.com and open the appropriate Online ApplicationFormat given under Recruitment Link.

    iii) Candidates must go through Advertisement very carefully and satisfy themselves that they fulfil all the eligibility criteriamentioned in the Advertisement. Thereafter, they should proceed for applying. Fees once paid will not be refunded under anycircumstances.

    iv) Candidates should upload their photograph and signature while filling the application. After the application is filled complete,candidate should submit the application form.

    v) The system would generate a bank challan in triplicate wherein relevant particulars of the Candidate are mentioned and shouldtake a printout of the challan immediately.

    vi)With the printout of the challan, the Candidate should visit the nearest branch of State Bank of India to deposit the

    appropriate fees in cash only in Account no.32968716721 in favour of NATIONAL INSURANCE COMPANY LTD. Feepayment will be accepted from 18 th May 2013 to 12th June 2013.

    vii) After 3 days from date of receipt of fees, the candidate can check their application status in the website and take a printoutof the complete application and fees payment challan which should be retained by them for future reference.

    viii) At the time of written examination, they should submit one copy of the challan.

    The candidates are not required to send the application form to the Company.

    14. Guidelines For Scanning The Photograph & Signature

    Before applying online a candidate will be required to have a scanned (digital) image of his/her photograph and signature as per thespecifications (Refer to our website for detailed specifications).

    15. Online Application will not be registered unless photograph and signature are uploaded as specified.

    Note:a) In case the face in the photograph or signature is unclear the candidates application may be rejected.b) The candidates must bring the call letter along with photo identity proof such as passport/Pan Card/Driving Licence/Voters

    Card/Unique Identification Card(AADHAR)/Bank Passbook with duly attested Photograph/Identity Card issued by Schoolor College/ Gazetted Officer in Original as well as a self attested Photocopy thereof. The photocopy of Identity proof shouldbe submitted along with call letter to the invigilators in the examination hall, failing which he / she will NOT be permitted toappear for the test.

    16. Action against candidates found guilty of conduct.

    Candidates are warned that they should not furnish any particulars that are false, tampered/ fabricated or should not suppress anymaterial information while filling up the application form.At the time of written examination/Interview, if a candidate is (or has been) found guilty of:

    I. Using unfair means during the examination orII. impersonating or procuring impersonation by any person orIII. misbehaving in the examination hall or taking away the question booklet (or any part thereof)/answer sheet from the

    examination hall or

    IV. resorting to any irregular or improper means in connection with his/her candidature for selection orV. obtaining support for his/her candidature by any unfair means, such as candidate may, in addition to rendering

    himself/herself liable to criminal prosecution, be liable:a) To be disqualified from the examination for which he/she is a candidate.b) To be debarred, either permanently or for a specified period, from any examination or recruitment conducted by the

    Company.

    17. Special Instructions for SC/ST/OBC:

    a. Caste Certificate in respect of SC/ST/OBC candidates is to be obtained from the following Authorities:i) District Magistrate / Additional District Magistrate / Collector/Deputy Commissioner/ Deputy Collector/ First ClassStipendiary Magistrate/ Sub-Divisional Magistrate/ Taluka Magistrate/Executive Magistrate/Extra Assistant Commissioner(Not below the rank of First Class Stipendiary Magistrate).ii) Chief Presidency Magistrate/Additional Chief Presidency Magistrate/Presidency Magistrate.iii) Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar.

    iv) Sub-Divisional Officer of the area where the candidate and/or his family normally resides.v) In so far as the Scheduled Tribes community of Tamil Nadu is concerned, the Certificate given by the RevenueDivisional Officer instead of Tehsildar would only be accepted.

    b. Candidates seeking reservation as OBC are required to submit a certificate regarding his/her OBC Status & Non-CreamyLayer Status issued by an authority mentioned in DOPT OM No. 36012/22/93-Estt.(SCT) dated 15/11/1993. {Amendedvide OM No. 36033/3/2004-Estt.(Res.) dated 14/10/2008} Such candidates should also submit a declaration in addition tocertificate issued by the Competent Authority in the following format:I, ______ son/daughter of Shri ______ resident of Village/town/city ______ District ______ State ______ hereby declarethat I belong to the ______ community which is recognised as a backward class by the Government of India for thepurpose of reservation in services as per rules contained in Department of Personnel and Training Office MemorandumNo.36012/22/93-Estt.(SCT) dated 08/09/1993 {Amended vide OM No. 36033/3/2004-Estt.(Res.) dated 14/10/2008}.

    Certificate should contain the Non Creamy Layer Clause based on the Income for the financial year 31/03/2013 or later.

    18. General Information:

    i) While applying on-line for the post, the applicant should ensure that he/she fulfils the eligibility and other norms mentionedabove as on the specified dates and that the particulars furnished by him/her correct in all respects.     v) The selection of the candidates will be on the basis of Written Test, Computer Proficiency Test & Interview. The Companyreserves the right to hold any other test wherever deemed necessary as well as the right to add, delete or allot any centreat its discretion.

    vi) Admission to Written Test examination will be purely provisional without verification of age/qualification/category(SC/ST/OBC/PWD/XS) etc. of the candidates with reference to documents.

    vii) Documents relating to Age/Qualification/Category etc. will have to be submitted at the time of Interview by the candidatescalled for Interview. Caste certificate by candidates seeking reservation as SC/ST/OBC in the prescribed proforma from thecompetent authority indicating clearly the candidates caste, the Act/Order under which the caste is recognised asSC/ST/OBC and the village/town the candidate is originally a resident of.

    viii) Candidates serving in Government / Quasi Government Officers, Public Sector undertaking includingNationalised Banks and financial institutions will be required to submit No Objection Certificate from their employer at thetime of Interview, falling which their candidature may not be considered and travelling expenses, if any otherwiseadmissible, will not be paid.

    ix) No candidate is permitted to use or have possession of Calculators, Mobile Phones or any other instrument in theExamination Hall.

    x) The candidates will have to appear for the tests/Interviews, at their own cost. SC/ST/PWD candidates called forINTERVIEW are entitled to IInd class to & fro railway fare/bus fare by shortest route on production of evidence of travel(Rail/bus ticket/receipt etc.)

    xi) Appointment of selected candidates is subject to their being found medically fit as per the requirement of the Company.Such appointment will also be subject to the service and conduct rules of the Company.

    xii) DECISIONS OF THE COMPANY IN ALL MATTERS REGARDING ELIGIBILITY, CONDUCT OF WRITTENEXAMINATION, OTHER TESTS, INTERVIEW AND SELECTION WOULD BE FINAL AND BINDING ON ALLCANDIDATES. NO REPRESENTATION OR CORRESPONDENCE WILL BE ENTERTAINED BY THE COMPANY IN THISREGARD.

    xiii) Candidates may be considered for employment in any of the four Companies viz. National Insurance, The New IndiaAssurance, Oriental India or United India Insurance. Companys decision in this regard shall be final.

    xiv)Any legal proceedings in respect of any matter of claim or dispute arising out of this advertisement and/ or an applicationin responses thereto can be instituted only in Kolkata. Courts/ tribunals/forums at Kolkata only shall have sole andexclusive jurisdiction to try any cause/dispute.

    xv) Selected candidates will be governed by the terms and conditions of the Service Regulations of the Company in force inwhich he/she is appointed.

    xvi) Use of Mobile Phones, calculator or any such devices is strictly prohibited inside the examination hall. Candidates beforeentering examination premises are likely to be frisked to ensure compliance with followings:

    a. Mobile phones or any other communication devices are not allowed inside the premises where the examination isbeing conducted. Any infringement of these instructions shall entail cancellation of candidature and disciplinary actionincluding ban from future examinations.

    b. Candidates are advised in their own interest not to bring any of the banned item including mobile phones to the venueof the examination, as arrangement for safekeeping cannot be assured.

    c. Candidates are not permitted to use or have in possession of calculators in examination premises.xvii) Candidates admission to the test/Interview is strictly provisional. The mere fact that the call letter has been issued to the

    candidate does not imply that his candidature has been finally cleared by the Company.

    xviii)The Company reserves the right to cancel the above Recruitment Exercise at any stage of the process without assigningany reason thereof.

    Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.
