Guidelines for Submission of Assignments

It will help you to complete the assignment in time if you start working on the assignments as soon as you get the print material. You should pace your work in such a way so that the assignments for each theory courses are submitted timely.

Please note:1. There is one compulsory assignment for each theory courses.

2. The Assignment Responses (AR’s) may be submitted by hand at your Special Study Center or sent by post to the Coordinators of your Special Study Center on or before the prescribed date given by the study center.

3. You should retain a copy of all the assignments in your own interest.

4. The assignment must be submitted to your study center as per the date specified by the study center.

5. The cover page of assignments must be completed as per the guidelines given in Student Handbook/ Programme Guide.

6. Select disability specific courses and optional subjects as per your enrollment for submission of assignments.

MMD-011: Education in Emerging Indian Society

Answer any three questions (500 words each)

1. Compare the term development and sustainable development. Discuss the 21st

century models with your remarks for sustainable development in India.

2. What is your idea of vision of UNESCO’s TVE Programme for 21st century in reference to National Scenario for vocational education for all?

3. Write an essay on Distance Mode for Special Education in India. Enlist different distance mode programme run by different university in India for Special Education

4. Enlist different concessions and facilities for the persons with disabilities provided by Center and your state.

MMD-012: Educational Psychology

1. Enlist the characteristics of creative children. How will you develop the creativity of a child in a classroom situation?

2. Make the list of children with special needs of your school. Interview any three of them one by one and collect the detail data regarding their adjustment problems with peer group. Analyze the data and write your role as a teacher to help them.

3. Discuss the role of motivation in learning. Give your own suggestions to motivate students in a classroom situation.

4. Describe the characteristics of adolescents. How will you utilize those characteristics in teaching-learning process?

5. What is stress? Enlist various types of stress encountered in day-to-day life by the parents of children with disabilities.

Write in detail about any one organization’s objectives, functions and achievements in the field of education of children with hearing impairment

2. What are the stages in language development? Why knowledge of stages in language development is necessary for a teacher of children with hearing impairment?

3. What is sign language? Write about the importance of facial expression in sign language?

4. Discuss the role of class teacher in inclusion of the children with hearing impairment in school.

MMDE-033: Identification and Assessment of Persons with Mental Retardation

Assignment 1


1. Interact with five adults with mental retardation and their families. Discuss on issues of marriage and sexual problems including exploitation with them. Based on your experience discuss the counseling needs of such families on issues of marriage, childbirth, sexual problems and exploitation.

2. Equalization of opportunities for individual with special needs and their families is essential for empowerment. Suggest measures for equalization for such individuals and their families in India.

3. How will you conduct behavioral assessment of children with Mental Retardation? Illustrate with suitable example of a child with Mental Retardation.

4. Enlist the medical screening and diagnostic procedures for screening of mental retardation, developmental delay and developmental disabilities.

5. Discuss various biological and environmental risk factors that can lead to mental retardation at different stages, i.e. prenatal, natal and post natal.
