It will use other subgenres such as fighting games or shooting games which are one of the most commonly played games, in most action games the players are usually called avatars, you can create your avatar too look and be how you want them too. In the game they will be the main part of the game, the person playing the game will direct the avatar to maybe collecting objects or avoiding obstacles and battling enemies using different attack weapons. - Role-playing games are where people assume that they are the fictional characters. Humans play these games taking responsibility for acting out these roles, doing this either as literal acting or through remote control. - Adventure games are games that are video games this would be where the person playing the game would have to go through many different tasks to complete an adventure, there are many different types such as fighting, beating time to get on to different levels and some have a storyline to go along with for example “halo” - Strategy games could be a board games or computer games, this would be where the person playing the game will have to think of ways to beat the opponent using different strategies such as games like chess or checkers, both of this can be played on board or on computer. - Simulation games try to give the effect of real life, the game takes situations from real life and turns it into a game, it isn’t the sort of game that would give you goals to meet generally but some might have this to make it more realistic. - Sports games on the computer or on video games simulate the playing of football. Some sports games emphasize playing an actual games of football such as a game called “fifa” whereas others can give the impression of running a team such as a game called “football manager”. - Combat games are like a competitive game where people will play against each other and to try and defeat one another such as the sport game tennis on the WII console. - Educational games are considered to be a serious game; they can be used for people of all ages to help education become an easier part of their life. The other name for this is edutainment, it give the ability for people to have fun whilst learning.

The concerns of the influences of computer games are that they can be completely addictive to the point that people are on it twenty-four seven and then they will end up either ill or worse, they would end up neglecting the things that are the most important to them for example their children, their family. When researching I watched a TV documentary called panorama about how computer gaming is taking over plenty of peoples life’s. They showed how people around the world are obviously too engrossed in the virtual world. There was one person who was so infatuated with a game called world of war craft he thought that he was part of it, like he was living in the game himself, he lost everything. He lost all of his friends because of how much time he was spending on the computer being brain washed. This happens to many people it could be happening right in front of your own eyes without realising. Another example I got from watching this documentary is that this mother and father in china where so obsessed with a game that they forgot or where to engrossed in the game they had to feed and look after their child, resorting to the child losing its life the game, which I found to be quite ironic was where they had to create their own family and look after their child together. Not only would these games be a risk to helpless people they would be a risk to your own lives. The games can cause things like eye strain from being on it all the time, losing everything, such as their lifestyle, their jobs, their friends, their education picking up bad habits such as swearing. In some cases the addiction has got so bad that they have died themselves from lack of food and drink because they have been so into the game that their playing they’ve not been looking after themselves. Addictions can lead to withdrawal another example from a documentary, there was a young person who couldn’t control how much time he spent on a game and when the game got took away from him, he was having the proper withdrawal symptoms that you would normally get from drink or drugs, he got violent with his family, the shakes, the sweats etc. Having an addiction with games could also lead to financial problems because of buying the games to play on. Things like headsets and places where instant messaging are involved could also be a problem because these are the sort of things that people would use to prey on younger people, making them believe that they are someone else, someone of a younger age, this could lead on to more dangerous things such as death, violence, rape etc. Also this could lead to being hacked or robbed, if people pay for things online using their credit card, the hackers could steal these and take the money. The benefits of gaming would be that with some people it helps them to learn; also this might be beneficial in a financial point of view this may be because a game could be found or created for example since angry birds had been brought by EA it’s got brought for 13million pounds and it is still making money to this day. Also with some games it teaches people to work in teams with games such as COD (call of duty) they are in a army based area and have to work together to kill the other team, games like this may make people want to do this for a life career so they may join the army which may be beneficial for them to sort themselves out. Games such as the WII console or the Xbox kinect would be good for the health of people, it could help them lose weight or just keep fit in general, and the games like tennis or the WII board with the WII sport or WII fit would all be example of what games would keep a person active. Games nowadays would also be good for imagination giving young or adolescent people an idea of what goes on in the real world, using their imagination to figure it all out on their own.
