PROJECT OVERVIEW

You are the operations manager for the Little Rock Arts Alliance in Arkansas. Each year the group applies to various state and federal agencies for matching funds. For this year’s funding proposal, you need to create charts to document the number of productions in previous years.

Instructions

1. Open the file IL_Excel2010_UD_IC1a_FirstLastName_1.xlsx and save the file as IL_Excel2010_UD_IC1a_FirstLastName_2.xlsx before you move to the next step. Verify that your name appears in cell B4 of the Documentation sheet. (Note: Do not edit the Documentation sheet. If your name does not appear in cell B4, please download a new copy of the start file from the SAM Web site.)

2. Switch to the Sheet1 worksheet. Create a Clustered Column chart for the data in the range A1:E6. Move and resize the chart as necessary so the upper-left corner is in cell A8 and the lower-right corner is in cell H22.

3. From the Chart Styles gallery, apply the Style 10 chart style to the chart.

4. Change the fill color of the Year 3 data series in the chart to theme color Orange, Accent 6, Darker 25%.

5. Enter Little Rock Arts Alliance Events as the chart title (Above Chart).

6. Make the chart title more visually attractive by applying a shape outline color of Blue, Accent 1 and a Shadow shape effect of Offset Diagonal Bottom Right (in the Outer section).

7. Enter Number of Events as the vertical axis title (Rotated Title).

8. Enter Types of Events as the horizontal axis title (Title Below Axis).

9. Create a Pie in 3-D chart using the non-adjacent ranges A1:A6 and E1:E6. Move and resize the chart as necessary so the upper-left corner is in cell H1 and the lower-right corner is in cell P15. (Do not overlap the clustered column chart in column H.) Apply the Style 18 chart style to the chart. Explode the Comedy pie slice by 40% for emphasis. Change the chart title to Little Rock Arts Alliance Events, Year 4. To enhance the chart title, apply a shape outline color of Blue, Accent 1 and a Shadow shape effect of Offset Diagonal Bottom Right (in the Outer section).

10. Create a 3-D Area chart using the data in the range A1:E6. Move and resize the chart as necessary so the upper-left corner is in cell A23 and the lower-right corner is in cell H37. Add the X-axis title Types of Events below the x-axis. Add the chart title above the chart and change the title to Little Rock Arts Alliance Types and Numbers of Events. To enhance the chart title, apply a shape outline color of Blue, Accent 1 and a Shadow shape effect of Offset Diagonal Bottom Right (in the Outer section).

Your worksheet should look like the Final Figure below. Save your changes, close the workbook and exit Excel. Follow the directions on the SAM Web site to submit your completed project.
