1. Review Problem 3.1 from your text book (Chang, Chapter 3) (30%)
(For the part shown in Fig. 3.28, determine the maximum and minimum value of dimension labeled
X.)

2. Given the figure below (30%),
a. Calculate and draw the sizes and shape of each hole center tolerance zone for Figure (a)
and Figure (b) when the produced hole size is:
i. LMC
ii. 0.500’’
b. After the part shown in Figure (b) is manufactured, the distance between the center of the
hole and the datum plane A is measured to be 1.998” and the distance between the center and
the datum plane B is measured to be 2.003”. The actual (manufactured) diameter of the hole
is 0.499”. Is the manufactured part acceptable, why?

3. Group Assignment Given the big wheel vehicle model, create a solid model using Rhinoceros
CAD software package. Feel free to assign your own dimensions and try to approximate the given
shape as much as you can. Only one submission per group is allowed, a group representative should
use ICON dropbox to upload your electronic files (in Rhino part file format (*.3dm)). 70%
Note: You should also create axle rods to assemble front and rear wheels.
