“Protection” and “It’s true”

Assignment 1 Part 2

There are two works in the art galleries that especially attract us so much than

ever. One of the works is namely “Protection” and the other one named is “It's true”.

We do realize these two distinct works in Artemis Art Gallery when we are doing a

survey in that art gallery before and we found the surprising truth that both the artists

are capable to do such a perfect works although they are still young. These two

outstanding artists are Azimuddin Abd Manaf and Harold Reagan Eswar. We would

like to tell about the background of these two artiest. First of all we are going to talk

about Azimuddin Abd Manaf. He studies at UiTM. He is participating in the degree of

Fine Art. He is a talented young artistic. He won a number of awards in his young

career. Many of his art work were held in exhibitions. Most of his art work has shows

his realist skills, as well as his exploration and experimentation of new thematic styles.

He also finalist in this year’s Nando’s Art Competition and he was selected as a top 10.

For Harold Reagan Eswar, or Egn, is a self-trained artist from Sabah. He always puts

all effort in his work to succeed in his carrier independently. Although he is full with

artist potential talent but he did not get support from his parents, and so he

academically pursued the closest subject to art that he could find, that is Architecture.

He has been frequently participating in various exhibitions in both his home state of

Sabah and KL in year 2009. He aspires to use his art as a mean to shape viewpoints

on issue of the day.

works namely “Protection” that exhibit

in Artemis Art is very meaningful. The

work communicates his ideas obviously

and directly. The title “Protection” is

suitable for the work because it shows 2

environments beneath the work. One is

being polluted and the other one is full

of green layer of protection. It gives us

a sense that we need protect the nature

environment and avoid it by being

polluted. The work also shows how he

feels when he does his work. The art

shows that he hopes to protect the environment and avoid from polluting the

environment all the times. He also hopes that this work can lead the next generation to

aware the significance of the environment. It also shows the nature beauty of the

natural environment if pollution never exists. Since pollution does exist in this world,

it is impossible for us to change it, so, he hopes that try our best to reduce pollutions

and take responsible to protect our environment and because it is closely linked to us.

Our human being depends on environment and vice versa. He uses the oil paint

method to draw “Protection”.

This colorful picture “It’s true”

by Harold Reagan Eswar tells the

story of a domestic violence within

the family system, how the elderly,

the women and the children are

treated. The caption “It’s true”

makes this clear. It suggests that this

kind of hardships do happen at

somewhere else without our

knowledge. Harold Reagan Eswar

gives us many cues throughout the

work including but not limited to the

expression of the victims. The

building at the right side is somehow catch fire from the bottom of the building. Two

of them waving their right hands and asking for help. This shows that there is some

bystander around but it seems that nobody is trying to help them because none of

them inside the picture aside from the victims. So, it implicates the seriousness of the

situation. These residents are staying in a critical condition. From their physical

outlook, I can make a warranted assumption that they are suffering and anguishing

because they seem to be despair and helplessness. I can analyze that the administrator

is not giving a priority to the safety of the residents. However, all these elements

combine to create a distinct and logical overtones that signals that their human right is

being violated and they are being threaten badly. He uses the acrylic paint method to

draw “It’s true”.

It's true

This two works have their own value and they are different with each other. So

we would like to compare the both of the works and understand the messages they

attempted to convey through their works. For the work of “Protection”, It has bring

some message like aware the new generation of children to avoid from polluting the

environment. It also conveys the message that the artiest hope that the environment

stop being polluted. From this art, the artist has the idea to save our environment. For

“It's true”, it has bring the message like reveal the cruel reality of some unfortunate

people and those irresponsible of administrator. It is signaling us that somebody is

suffering unfair in this world without our knowledge. Besides that, for the work of

“Protection”, Azimuddin Abd Manaf prefers to use the oil paint on canvas to draw it

because the oil paint on canvas can often be left exposed to air for several weeks

without drying. He hopes that the painting over several sessions without fear of the

paint drying up too early so he uses oil paint on canvas to draw this art gallery and

also let it to feel smooth and liquid to his art. For the work of “It's true”, Harold

Reagan Eswar prefers to use the acrylic paint on canvas to draw it because the acrylic

paint on canvas is much faster to dry. He wishes to lengthen the amount of time it

takes for the paint to dry so he uses acrylic paint on canvas to draw this art gallery to

let it more style and solid.

In conclusion, Azimuddin Abd Manaf is a people who like to preserve and

conserve the environment because he does convey a message shows the significance

of the environment by covering all the plants and river with a thick layer of protection

to regard as the natural power of the plants. The one without a green protection like

the railway seem obsolescence and filthy. So, when the train passed through the layer

of green protection, the train gains a refresh into a new, fresh train than ever. Since he

is someone who loves environment, he definitely hopes next generation can aware the

important of the environment since the environment has a special ability to refresh.

Besides that, Harold Reagan Eswar is totally a different person with Azimuddin Abd

Manaf because of their unique traits. He is sympathy and bold because he dares to

reveals the reality of some unfortunate people who suffer from hardship caused by

some irresponsive potentate administrator. In addition, he is sympathize towards the

people because they were threaten badly and not given their right as shown in his

work. Although their painting style and characteristic are different, but both of them

are young artist and a good future is awaiting them at the place ahead. It is undeniable

that they are really successful artist.
