    This is a group assignment with three students from same tutorial class.On your assignmentcover sheet state the name of the student who uploaded your report into Turnitin for your group.A penalty of 10% of possible marks will be imposed per day for assignments submitted after the

    due datefor both late hard or soft copies.

    Assignment worth: 25% of the total subject mark

    ObjectivesThis assignment addresses the following course objectives:

    1. Explain the impact and opportunities of IT within the Australian and globaleconomic context by using computer tools such as portals, etc to maintain

    relationships and grow these opportunities.

    2. Discuss how IT adds value to business in e-commerce, relationship andknowledge management, user modelling for customer satisfaction,

    outsourcing, offshoring and software development by using computers forinnovation that leads to competitive advantage.

    TaskAs many companies are enduring negative impacts as a result of the Global

    Financial Crisis (GFC) write a report which describes where IT has been

    employed by a global business to enhance its competitiveness for its services orproducts in its marketplace, and which improves the businesss economic

    sustainability (i.e. improves the companys profitability).

    In your answer discuss what IT facility(s) (i.e. applications and/or hardware, etc.),

    together with any associated business process improvements, were employed to

    bring about their commercial advantage or improvement in their marketplace;

    When developing your report, include the following discussions;

    1. Briefly describe how the GFC impacted your chosen business, how didthese impacts manifest themselves, and to what extent?

    2. Reflect on your findings by analysing the businesss IT strategy(s)employed and then discuss - will these strategies be successful for thatbusiness? Explain your reasoning and substantiate your deductions based

    on the research you present in your report.

    showing appropriate and clear deductions.

    Your views well-argued showing understanding of therelevant issues backed by relevant references and/or example.

    10 marks

    Grammar, spelling, section layout and report presentation. 2 marks Quality of references used in your report and reference list. 1 marks

    For group assessments in this Subject, students will be assessed as a team, where each

    member of the team will receive the same mark for the assignment. If you have trouble

    with the operation of your group, ask the Tutor for advice (preferably ask as a group). If

    some of the groups feel that other members are not contributing, the Tutor should be

    informed and a group meeting held to produce a solution. In extreme cases a groupmember may be asked by the Lecturer to do extra work or accept a lower mark. No

    complaints about group operation will be considered after the assignment has beenhanded in.
