The pieces of work I will analyse are:

1. The Right to be Colorful By Alexa R, Rafaella and Dafne

2. How youths are portrayed in the Media By Alexa M, Kayleigh and Haven

My thoughts of the coursework

The Right to be Colorful

WWW: great archival images and footage good technical skill in

graphs/statistics extremely informative

EBI: not much insight on theories not many interviews

How youths are portrayed in the media

WWW: range of interviewees good range of archival images

EBI: fix sound range of camera shots/angles

The most effective documentary

The sound is really good, the presenter can still be heard even though there is background music

Interesting images relating to the topicbeing discussed

Timeline effect used to show statistics with a good use of voiceover throughout

Political archival footage

Good use of stop start animation for graph

A less effective documentary

Background music was too loud

Archival images were too fast, viewers didn’tget the chance to see it properly

Lack of variety in camera shots

What I learnt from analysing last year’s coursework

Sound is a key element as even the best, reliable information won’t be effective if the sound is disturbed or minimal.

Must have a range of interviewees, public and professional figures.

The coursework analysis will help me next year as I know now the common mistakes to avoid and the great features to include in my coursework.
