    Student Growth Percentiles SGPs

PresenterPresentation NotesThe growth model allows districts and schools to more easily identify promising, or potentially struggling, programs and practices—and therefore to look deeper into what may or may not be working. A growth model can help answer such questions as: How much academic progress did an individual or group of students make in one or more years? How does an individual student’s growth compare to that of students with similar prior test scores? Is a student’s, school’s, or district’s growth higher than, or lower than, or similar to typical growth? Which schools or districts demonstrate better than (or less than) typical growth for their students as compared to schools or districts with similar overall achievement?

  • Strategic Planning

Curriculum & Instruction ◦ Development and revision of curriculum aligned with new Common Core ◦ Implementation of 3 year curriculum cycle ◦ Instructional Shift to the Common Core ◦ Create, revise and implement benchmark assessments in all core and non

    core classes

    ◦ Use benchmark data to drive instructional planning ◦ Implementation of guided reading and Literacy Centers in grades K-8 ◦ Continue to provide students with access to non-fiction literature ◦ Restructuring of Title I and ESL services ◦ Departmentalization of 4th and 5th grade

PresenterPresentation NotesStudent Achievement Goal 1 Initiate and complete a comprehensive analysis of the District's K-12 math programs.NJASK 2011-2012 test scores will be utilized during the gap analysis of mathematic instruction that will be aligned to the common core that will take place during the school year. The district will look to create a team to review possible programmatic changes.Goal 2Create a new district evaluation system, for teachers and administration, to increase student achievement.Teachers will receive professional development on the Danielson Framework for Teaching. Administrators will continue to receive professional development as to ensure inter rater reliability is consistent when evaluating teachers and supporting any areas in need of improvement.  Goal 3To successfully implement balanced literacy classrooms in grades K through Grade 8 focusing on targeted grade levels based on NJASK 2011-2012 scores. The action for this goal will be broken down into a k-2, 3-5, and 6-8 clusters. Ongoing professional development and in class teacher support will be implemented into the course of the 2012-2013 school year in order ensure teachers are adequately prepared for the 2013-2014 mandated growth model as it encompasses 50% of teacher and administrator evaluationFacilitiesGoal 4Complete an analysis of district athletic field and create a plan for field improvement. Student Achievement Goal 1 Initiate and complete a comprehensive analysis of the District's K-12 math programs.NJASK 2011-2012 test scores will be utilized during the gap analysis of mathematic instruction that will be aligned to the common core that will take place during the school year.
