Project Organizer ASSARKEM Musical Poetry Group Project Title Musical Poetry Performance Workshop: Practical and Implication on Curriculum of Junior High School Background Musical poetry performance – or known as poetry musicalization – as a form of modern art performances, since its uprising in 1980s, has not yet gaining its solid nor strategic position among society. Beside the lyric of this kind of music is not in simple words which can be understood easily, it also has to compete with other music genres. For instance, the one which is market oriented, without any consideration on musical qualities within a single arena. Although there is no mistaken with this kind of music, but if we pay some attention into its impacts for youths and societies, it leads to pragmatism lifestyle. The irresponsible diction with monotonous themes with its low creativity also considered give negative impact to society. Thus, the role of literacy is important. Literature, especially poetry, has a valuable potential to be used as source of lyrics for songs. In fact, diction in poems is the result of great creativity of their poets as the great mission of literature is to bring the advancement of civilization. The present of poetry musicalization as a part of language and literature curriculum in Junior High School is considered has not sufficient without any proper debriefing and teaching guides. On the other hand, literature teaching is still considered low of quality, because it is only reaching the surface level and old fashioned. Thus, a learning media is needed to help the teachers and students in doing appreciation in poetry. And further apply it during the process of composing musical poetry performance. One of the intentions in responding to this situation is providing reactive and creative learning medias for teachers and students in junior high schools. In practice, these learning processes should be persuasive, gradual and not instant. It also must be able to provide obvious results. It is some kind of compilation album of students' musical poetry performances. Instead of the compilation album, a teaching and learning guide for both students and language teachers in junior high school is going to be built. performance are highly valuable to be used as a source of art learning).
