We Invite You to the ASOPRS 44th Annual Scientific Symposium! On behalf of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS), we are delighted to invite you to the 44th Annual Fall Scientific Symposium, “Progress, Performance and Passion.” This year’s meeting will be held on Thursday, November 14 and Friday, November 15 in New Orleans - the Big Easy - famous for multicultural cuisine, jazz and festivals! Our two-day ASOPRS Scientific Symposium will feature advances and innovations in aesthetic and reconstructive oculofacial, orbital, lacrimal and anophthalmic socket surgery. National and international guest speakers will share their experiences and the free papers, posters and videos will stimulate you with the latest information in surgical techniques, innovative ideas, and research. Thursday will feature a series of free paper sessions and featured presentations followed by panel discussions on the best approaches to Fat, Fillers and Toxins; Brow and Forehead Rejuvenation; Blepharoplasty and; Facelifting and Facial Implants. Our featured aesthetic speaker is Peter A. Hilger, MD, Director of Facial Plastic Surgery at the University of Minnesota, who will present “Endoscopic Browlifting: Long-term Results” and “Lower Blepharoplasty: My Algorithm.” Friday will feature free papers, ASOPRS Foundation Lecture and thesis and award presentations. Our featured speakers are Tessa A. Hadlock, MD from the Facial Nerve Center at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, speaking on “Comprehensive Reanimation of the Paralyzed Face” and Alan A. McNab, MB BS, DMedSc from the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, Melbourne, Australia, discussing “Non-Traumatic Orbital Hemorrhage.” We appreciate all of the support the meeting has received from sponsors and exhibitors. SYMPOSIUM OBJECTIVES: AESTHETIC DAY To provide a forum for presentation of new concepts, new data, and new techniques

in cosmetic oculofacial plastic surgery to enhance knowledge, competence, and outcomes.

To promote excellence in patient care and outcomes for those having facial cosmetic surgery.

To present opportunities for exchange of knowledge with our colleagues. To highlight areas of cosmetic oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgery where

research activity has produced improved outcomes and areas where additional research is needed.

To provide the results of scientific studies concerning new surgical techniques, devices or equipment in cosmetic oculofacial plastic surgery.

To discuss present techniques in an in-depth fashion on numerous cosmetic surgery topics.

FUNCTIONAL DAY To provide a forum for presentation of new concepts, new data, and new techniques

in reconstructive oculofacial plastic surgery to enhance knowledge, competence, and outcomes.

To promote excellence in patient care and outcomes, including all areas of eyelid, lacrimal, socket, orbital disease and surgery.

To present opportunities for exchange of knowledge with our colleagues. To highlight areas of oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgery where research

activity has produced improved outcomes and areas where additional research is needed.

To provide the results of scientific studies concerning new surgical techniques, devices or equipment in reconstructive oculofacial plastic surgery.

CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION ASOPRS is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to sponsor the Continuing Medical Education (CME) for physicians. The American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery takes responsibility for the content, quality, and scientific integrity of this CME activity. The American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery designates this live activity for a maximum of 19.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. One CME credit per day (2 Coding CME total for November 14 and 15, 2013) may be claimed out of total 19.00 CME if the physician attended the YASOPRS Lunch Lecture, Coding Lessons from ASOPRS Masters. One self assessment CME (SACME) credit may be claimed out of the total 19.00 CME if the physician completed the self assessment questionnaire included at the end of the online meeting evaluation.

CANCELLATIONS ASOPRS will issue a refund, less a $50 administrative fee, upon receipt of written notice on or before October 11, 2013. No refunds will be made after October 11, 2013. Refunds will not be made for no-shows.

TARGET AUDIENCE The ASOPRS Fall Scientific Symposium Meeting is developed for all interested physicians and related health care personnel including, but not limited to, oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgeons, otolaryngologists, head and neck surgeons, facial plastic surgeons, dermatologic surgeons as well as general ophthalmologists. The meeting is also designed to be of interest to physicians in training and allied health personnel.

CAMERA, CELL PHONE AND VIDEO RECORDING POLICY Attendees are strictly prohibited from photographing or videotaping the general sessions, posters, videos, and/or exhibit hall. This includes taking pictures of the speakers, slides, and/or posters. The educational events will be monitored, and attendees violating this policy will be escorted from the symposium and not allowed to return to any part of the meeting. No refunds will be issued and future ASOPRS meeting attendance may be prohibited.

Coding Lessons from ASOPRS Masters YASOPRS LUNCH LECTURE Thursday, November 14 & Friday, November 15 Noon to 1:00 PM YASOPRS** members are invited to lunch with ASOPRS’ coding experts Jeffrey Edelstein, MD, Charles Slonim, MD and L. Neal Freeman, MD, for an educational session held on both Thursday and Friday. These experts will will cover topics such as CPT Basics, Code Linking, Coverage Decisions, ABN and the Selection of E&M vs. Eye Codes. The use of EncoderPro to aid in E&M/modifier combinations will also be addressed. Please note: Friday's lecture will be a continuation of Thursday's lecture, but there may be some overlap. Both lunches require an RSVP to receive an entry ticket in your registration packet. **YASOPRS are defined as ASOPRS members in practice for less than 5 years and current physicians-in-training in ASOPRS fellowships. This event is only open to YASOPRS members.

PANEL DISCUSSIONS This year’s Aesthetic Day will feature moderated panel discussions covering Fat, Fillers and Toxins, Browlifting, Blepharoplasty and Facelifting and Implants. These sessions will feature short presentations on state-of-the-art cosmetic procedures followed by panel discussions. These interactive expert-panels will discuss surgical techniques as well as the management of aesthetic patients. The dynamic moderators (Drs. Bill Mack, Jill Foster, Dave Holck and Asa Morton) will use case-based and audience question formats to create a valuable educational experience for surgeons who would like to add aesthetic procedures to their practice as well as advanced practitioners.
