New research from Vision Critical suggests that people are worried regarding the economic climate in the UK for 2012.

Vision Critical surveyed a representative sample of 2,016 UK adults to understand the public’s view regarding their own financial situation as well as that of the UK as a whole.

Just over half of the people surveyed (53%) say the country’s employment and economic activity will worsen in 2012, with just 9% saying 2012 will be better than 2011. As is usually the case, people are slightly more optimistic about their own financial situation, but even so, 37% say they expect to be personally worse off in 2012, with just 15% expecting to be better off.

Where the worries are greatest:• The older the respondents, the more worried they are. Two-thirds (66%) of those aged 55+

say the country’s employment and economic situation will deteriorate in 2012 and 45% say their own financial circumstance will worsen in 2012.

• Those living outside London are more worried than those in London, with 55% of those outside London saying the country’s employment and economic circumstance will worsen in 2012, compared to 40% of those in London.

• Women are more slightly more worried than men. 55% of women saying that the UK’s employment and economic situation will worsen in 2012 compared to 50% of men.

Many British citizens fear what 2012 has in store for them!
