1. Could you tell us a bit about yourself – your education, interests, past work experience?
5. What are the current major achievements that FGV has made lately recently?
Certainly the major achievement at this point of time is the successful listing of FGV on Bursa Malaysia, which is the culmination of farsighted visioning, commitment and solidarity among all our stakeholders. There have been many challenges in the process of listing FGV but together we have overcome these obstacles and we now stand at the threshold of something new and exciting.
The listing of FGV also makes it the largest IPO in Asia in 2012, the largest public offeringin the world this year after Facebook, and the largest public offering in Malaysia since Petronas Chemicals Group in November 2010. FGV will also be among the top 25 companies on Bursa Malaysia and the top 10 listed plantation companiesin the region.
Not only that, we also managed to successfully secure collaborations with big global companies who have signed as cornerstone investors and strategic partners, including Louis Dreyfus Commodities, Vitol Group, Qatar Holding LLC, Fidelity Investments, Value Partners and AIA Group.
6. What does the future hold for Felda Global Ventures
We have arrived at an important milestone with the listing of FGV, and so begin the next phase of Felda’s transformation, with our eyes firmly glued to the next 50 years and beyond. As a participant in Malaysia’s financial market, we stand ready to play our part in realising the Government’s vision for achieving a total and complete transformation of the Malaysian economy.
As many might have read or known, portions of the proceeds from the IPO exercise will be used for capital expenditure for increases in efficiency as well as extension of capabilities, acquisitions of plantations, expansion of downstream activities, and for other working capital requirements. This include the strategic initiatives to improve efficiency include extensive oil palm replanting program to improve age profile at approximately 15,000 hectares per year utilising Felda’s award-winning planting materials to increase FFB production and improve oil extraction rates. The proceeds will also be used for potential acquisitions of additional landbank in South East Asia and Africa for planting oil palm as well as rubber by 2015. Meanwhile, it will expand downstream capabilities to enhance value of its upstream products. This includes further acquisitions and investments in refinery assets, consumer packed plants and bulking facilities. At the same time, FGV will continue to focus on both upstream and downstream research and development (R&D) in maintaining its business sustainability.
Holdings Berhad - any exciting plans or development?

MUAR BAN LEEGROUP BERHAD
Specialists InOil Seed Crushing Machinery
“We design for robustness, easy and low maintenance with safety and stability”
How can MBL stand out and succeed in an increasingly competitive
international marketplace? With more than 25 years of experience in the oil seed
expeller market, we have established good relationship
and a proven track record with our customers and suppli-
ers. Our longest business relationship with customer is at
average 20 years. With our long standing relationship with
most of the customers, we have a balance mix of repeating
customers and new customers. Furthermore, with the healthy
balance sheet and financial resources, MBL is capable of under-
taking big oil seed projects or any other potential investments.
Despite that, realiable products with prompt and professional after
sale service which is empowering profitability of MBL's clients couple
with consistent and strategic branding will differentiate MBL from the
other competitors.
Could you briefly introduce the background and profile of Muar Ban Lee Engineering Sdn Bhd?
The history of MBL can be traced back to 1987 when MBL was incorporated. Since
then, MBL has emerged as the premier player in the oil seed extraction machinery
industry with exports to over 29 countries. We have designed and built more than
250 plants with approximately more than 7,000 units of oil seed crushing machinery
across the globe. The Group was listed in 2009 under the main market of Bursa
Malaysia Securities Berhad.
What are some of the milestones that your company has etched in the past 5 years?
MBL invests in advanced technology to develop Copra Oil Expellers, EFB
Composting machines, EFB Press, EFB Shredder, Jatropha Oil Seed Crushing
Machinery, Empty Fruit Bunch Treatment Machinery, Composting Machinery,
Coconut Crushing Plants, Palm Kernel Crushing Machines, and more to match
the growing demands of the Malaysian palm oil and oil seed extraction
industry as well to the rest of the global palm oil industries.
What is your personal outlook for the Malaysia palm oil technology industry? How can the industry be developed further?Malaysia will be driven by the natural growth of the palm oil technol-
ogy industry with the continuous new development on waste
process, the transformation of waste to value. We, MBL strive
forward in our innovative POME water treatment technology
which make contribution to our environment together with all
millers and bring our valuable customers with greater profit at
the same time.
Does MBL have any significant plans and latest technology to introduce into the palm oil industry? Will MBL only remain a palm oil machinery
manufacturer?MBL with its vision of one stop solution provider have ventured into various business related to
Palm Oil Industry. We do have Organic Fertilizer – Compost system, Solvent Extraction system as
well as the POME Water treatment and Biogas which will discussed more below.
There are whispers of the global economic crisis in 2012 lingering everywhere, what are the preventive measures implemented by MBL for
overcoming this recession? What MBL can do as preventive measures or as to get ourselves prepared with continues
cultivating into more experience as built up more solid knowledge in the management team.
This is to enable to tackle the global economic crisis which lingers from time to time. MBL strictly
holds on to a systematic financial control since it’s very beginning. We have 30% recurring
income derive from the sales of spare parts annually. This segment mostly comes from existing
customers whose machines replacement parts due to wear and tear.
