Friday, Oct. 27th Pajama Day

We would like to thank everyone for coming out to our barbeque and curriculum night. We hope that everyone was able to meet their children’s teachers. It was fun to see parents involved in learning activities alongside their children. We hope that the handouts as well as the Tangrams and fraction tiles will be helpful to you and your children at home. Here is an online activity using Tangrams that you could also use: http://www.transum.org/software/Tangrams/Template.asp

Halloween Celebrations at Ashton Meadows

Each year, our students celebrate the long-standing tradition of Halloween.

Students celebrating this occasion in costume at our school must comply with the York Region District School Board’s Safe Schools Policy #668.0.

Students are not allowed to bring any replica/toy guns, knives, sticks, swords, etc.

to school even if they are part of the costume. Face masks are not advised as they restrict the student’s vision. Please note that this policy applies to all students at all levels, including Kindergarten. Jokes that include spray cans of silly string, fake blood, etc. should be kept at home for Halloween evening as they are often misused at school. Individual teachers will communicate specifics about

Halloween activities in their classes.

Thank you for your understanding. We look forward to having a safe and enjoyable Halloween.

Please do not send Halloween treats to school for lunches or snacks that

contain peanut or nut products. Check the packaging for wording that indicates peanut/nut free.

Student Birthday Celebrations Due to the number of student and staff members with severe food allergies and food reactions, food items to celebrate student birthdays etc. will no longer be permitted at Ashton Meadows PS. If parents would like to recognize their child’s birthday please do so only with non-food based items. Thank you for your co-operation.

We Scare Hunger The Me to We club is collecting non-perishable food items like canned food, instant noodles, granola bars, beef jerky, etc. We will be donating these food items to our food bank so people not as fortunate as us will be able to eat. Many people, even those in our community, go starving every day. In fact, 850,000 people go access food banks every month and 1 third of those people are children. These people come from all backgrounds and 1 in 6 of those people are employed. By participating in the Me to We club’s food drive, you can help these people. Not only will you support these people affected by hunger, your child will also get a ticket for each food item. They can use each ticket to put it in a jar of a teacher. We will have a draw a ticket out of the box and the student picked will get to smash that teacher in the face! Remember, the more food items you bring, the higher chance you have of smashing the teacher in the face. It’s not too late if you haven’t brought any donations yet! Thank you for your kindness and participation in our campaign! The Me to We club IGNITE TECHNOLOGY GRANT – For Students with SEA Technology
