ABOUT THE ASHOKA U EXCHANGE• Picture this: More than 600 social entrepreneurs, university

professionals, and students representing over 150 institutions from 40 countries come together for a weekend in the largest global conference intersecting higher education and social change.

• The 2013 Exchange, invites entrepreneurs at every stage of growth to “Unlock the U in University” and consider how educational institutions can spark ideas big enough to change the world.

• Over 50 presentations and hands-on workshops explore new ways to implement social innovation teaching into university systems—from curriculum development and campus culture, to career services and alumni relations.

• The University of San Diego, an AshokaU Changemaker Campus and this year’s host, will serve as an incubator for discussion and as a living example of experiential learning and changemaking in action.

FEATURED DURING THE EXCHANGE ‘13

• 2013 Cordes Innovation Awards*: As more and more colleges and universities seek to launch and grow social entrepreneurship programs on campus, there is an even greater need to share expertise, challenges, and inspiration for creating positive social and environmental impact.

• To highlight some of the most high-impact and replicable innovations, Ashoka U and the Cordes Foundation will recognize six promising educational approaches in social entrepreneurship with the Ashoka U – Cordes Innovation Awards.

• TedxAshokaU: Participants share their innovations at the concurrent TEDxAshokaU conference. This year’s TEDx Talks will explore the theme, "To Find Your Place in the Universe," based on a talk given at the 2010 AshokaU Exchange by Bernard Amadei, Ashoka Fellow and professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Colorado at Boulder. The spirit of Dr. Amadei’s talk is the undercurrent of both the 2013 Exchange and the TEDxAshokaU conference.

• Designed as an independently organized TED event on the evening of February 22, 2013, with an anticipated sell-out crowd of 1,300 individuals and hundreds more participating online, the TEDxAshokaU event will feature leaders speaking on the topic of “Find Your Place in the Universe”. There will be 7 speakers including business centered individuals such as: Alex Burnadotte (CEO of Beyond 12), Chris Crane (CEO of Edify Inc.) and Eden Full (Founder of Roseicollis Technologies Inc.).
