PP2 enjoyed a fantas-
c day at the Tropical
Buery House,
North Anston. The
day began with a
guided tour around
the rainforest and
the girls were able to
hold dierent ani-
mals, including
snakes. The rest of
the day was full of amazing animal encounters. Girls learnt
amazing facts about meerkats, watched parrots perform
clever tricks and listened to very noisy, squawking birds. One
of the highlights of the day was seeing a lemur jump on Mrs
Jackson's back! Thank you to the animals, the Buery House
and the girls for a brilliant day.

teams from Birkdale Prep School, Derby Prep, Sheeld
High School, S.Anselms Prep and Ranby House School. A
total of 11 teams took part over the course of the aer-

and we were pleased that our girls managed very re-
spectable 4th and 10th places in the compeon. The
overall winners were Birkdale and we wish them lots of
good luck in their next round!

During this term, Pre-Prep 1 visited Runway Visitor
Park, Altrincham. We had a great day even though
the weather was cold and a lile bit snowy! We start-
ed our visit with a walk around the park to watch the
planes take o and land. We saw the giant Emirates
Airbus land from Dubai. The pilots waved to us as theplane taxied back to the airport. We went on the
bendy bus and saw a giant model of the whole air-
port - it's huge!! We went on the Monarch DC10 and
learned about dierent jobs around the airport. Then
it was lunchme, hooray!! The sun was shining when
we had our lunch and we were able to see the planes
take o and land as we were eang. A really fun day
out!
Snowdrops and PP1 Visit to the Farm
We are delighted to have
Madam Baker and Mrs Pooley

hospital. Both have been
through it but we are reallyhappy to see them back and
‘almost’ ghng t. Thank you so much to all
the Ashdell teaching sta for stepping in and
helping cover their classes, it has been very
much appreciated. Mrs Camm can now come
back out of the classrooms and return to her
oce and carry on with the ‘day job’ of running
the school!
It’s good to have you back !
Our Friday aernoon

learned all about the methods used for makingthis beautiful design and used specialised tools tocreate their own plates. The girls really enjoyedtheir morning at Planet Pot and can’t wait to seewhat their plates will look like once they have beenfired and glazed! - Watch this space for the endresults!

the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering,
Maths and Medicine., got o to a ‘cracking start’
with a Chick Day in Pre -Prep and the annual
Prep Inter-House Science Quiz (of which Porter
were eventually crowned champion sciensts).
We then moved into Tuesday ready for a new challenge- and what a day it was! Dr Hughes (Molly in
PP2's Dad) came to introduce our Engineering Day in assembly and talked about his role as an innovang

Pre -Prep built rubber-band racers ready to carry an egg, Prep 1 & 2 designed and con-
structed bridges on which Pre -Preps cars could travel and Prep 3 & 4 began work on a

Sports news
Netball v SHS U11
What a great aernoon of sport!
Six P4 girls and 2 P3 girls played
in the tournament. A special
thanks to the P3 girls as without
these girls we could have had to
withdraw from the tournament. The girls played re-ally well and improved throughout the whole aer-
noon. We progressed to the playos along with 7
other teams out of 18. Sadly we couldn’t manage
and hold on to our winning streak and we lost our
last two games. Well done to all the girls, especially
Chloe and Molly who were awarded girls of the tour-
nament
Queen Margaret’s Netball Tournament
A fantasc tournament as al-
ways, our girls always enjoy thisevent. It is a chance for the girls
to meet new girls
and really experi-
ence what a compeve netball tour-
nament is like. We had two teams
and as always we showed true grit,
determinaon and progression
throughout the day. We progressed
to the Plate and the Bowl compeons in the aer-
noon. We came 2nd in the Plate. 5 of our girls then
entered the cross country event and out of 53 run-ners:
Grace –23rd
Robyn– 24th
Hannah –28th
Freya– 38th
Naima– 41st
U9 Netball v Sheeld High School
We had 2 P2 teams against SHS. It was a fantasc
aernoon of netball for everyone and something
that really impressed Mrs Cooke was the quality ofplay from our girls. Four months ago the girls were
just geng to grips with posions, passing, shoong
and team work and when we played SHS back in No-
vember at mes we looked like frightened rabbits.
Ashdell girls really stepped up a gear with the reds
winning both of their games and the yellow team
despite losing both their matches worked well as a
team and never gave up. Well done to our two cap-
tains, Nancy and Thea for encouraging your teams.
For the Red team Mrs Cooke chose Jasmine for
some fantasc Shoong and for the yellow team shechose Maia for being resilient and showing real pro-
gress in her understanding of the rules and defend-
ing well.
Well played everyone!
School School Policies
Summer uniform
The school maintains a very large number ofpolicies and documents relang to the safety and wellbe-
ing of the girls and the ecient running of the school in-
cluding: Health & Safety, Equality of Opportunity, Safe-
guarding, An-Bullying, Policies on Teaching and Learning,
Dealing with Grievances and Complaints, etc. Parents are
advised that copies of these polices are kept in both sta
rooms and in the administraon oce and are available on
request. Some polices are also available to view on the
school website. We had no formal complaints in the last
academic year 2014/15.
Aer the holiday girls will be allowed to wear the summer
uniform if the weather permits. The summer dresses are
available from John Lewis online. ( CODE: 53910208) with
the ‘e back’ opon. The Pre Prep girls should wear whiteankle socks with summer dresses and the Prep girls white
knee length socks, both with black shoes( not ballerina type
shoes please). Prep 3 & 4 girls have the opon of wearing
the grey skirt with the white and grey short sleeved blouse
(available from the school uniform shop) and white knee
length socks instead of summer dresses if they wish.
Have an ‘eggscing ‘Easter Break, where ever you are
spending it, take care, stay safe and see you all in
three weeks ready to do it all over again!
