All Saints Church News

Dear Friends,

What are you doing on Tuesday afternoon 25th February at 2.30? Ashcott Church

will be warm and welcoming. Georgie Currie, Sheila Chambers and Kitty Herbert

will be there among others to explore the possibility of starting a new group.

When Susie and Brian were recuperating from their accident several people across

the six parishes created squares which were combined into a blanket and given to

them as a gift. Whilst people were making their contributions they prayed for Susie

and Brian and their family. This made the blanket precious in more ways than one.

However there was also an unexpected result of their efforts; those who crafted

the squares found a new way of ministering to others, enjoying each other’s

company and the group effort that resulted in something special for someone

else. It brought together people from all over the Polden Villages.

It is with this in mind that the new group will meet; people from all of our parishes,

from Ashcott to Chilton Polden, out to Burtle and those in between, are invited to

join in. At this initial meeting the venues, times and the ethos of the group will be

discussed: a prayerful presence with a craft focus. This is not about being an

expert in prayer or craftwork; it is about learning, sharing and being open to

receive from God and each other. The ministry and the prayer is the most

important thing. The craft work will be a vehicle for it and the products perhaps

we gift to others. (Please do not think you will have to pray aloud in front of others,

that is not the case!)

So come along and help to shape part of a wider ministry in our communities.

Trish

Prayer Presence

For all our prayerful and 'crafty' knitters, crochet-ers, sew-ers and other crafters in the Polden Wheel who enjoy both praying and making, there is to be a short meeting at All Saints Ashcott on Tuesday February 25th at 2.30pm. It will be a time to share and discuss the vision of a Prayer Gift Ministry, and whether it is something that we could run with in the PW churches. If you craft in any way, and might consider being a part of this as a ministry to those in our villages with a variety of needs, then please come along! Kitty Herbert and Georgie Currie (ring 01458 210023 if you have any queries)
