First Dinner Gala
First dinner gala in May at the Waldorf=Astoria in NYC
Kris Gopalakrishnan (CEO, Infosys Technologies) as Chief Guest
P. Sainath (Award-winning author, development journalist of The Hindu) as Special Guest Speaker
Raised over $40,000 in net proceeds through ticket sales and event-day activities.
Reached out to a different demographic of the community to raise awareness about organization’s mission.
4th Annual 5K Run/Walk
Fourth Annual 5K Run/Walk in June at the Riverside Park in NYC
Over 300 runners of all ages participated in the event
Runners raised funds through pledges from friends and family
Raised about $25,000 in net proceeds through this event
Notes of Hope Concert
Notes of Hope musical concert in August at Synod Hall in NYC
Sold out performance by fusion-rock band Indian Ocean
Over 500 people attended the event
Raised about $13,000 in net proceeds through ticket sales
The Marathon Program

Asha ProjectsCHILD AID FOUNDATION:
The Child Aid Foundation, established in 1993, is a NGO working for education of poor and needy children in India.
CAF runs "Shri Vijaya Bharati School", with 350 students, in Vijayawada City, Andhra Pradesh.
The school provides conventional education from the Nursery to 10th grade - Government's Department of Education approved syllabus and curriculum.
CAF provides free: 1) education, 2) transportation to and from school, 3) school supplies 4) midday lunch, 5) school uniform, 6) after school tutoring, and 7) non-school clothing.
ASHA has delegated $10,000 to this project. Currently the funding covers the salaries of all thirteen teachers. Part of the funding also goes to the school autos and salary of an additional staff assistant.
Asha ProjectsHUT AIDS ORPHANS EDUCATION PROJECT :
Human Uplift Trust (HUT) is a community-based organization serving certain rural areas in Tamil Nadu, which has been identified as being disproportionately affected by HIV infection.
Asha supports HUT’s center in the district of Perambalur, which was identified as a high prevalence area by the Tamil Nadu State AIDS Control Society.
HUT’s goal is to assist children and orphans from families affected by AIDS (FAA), by providing-
o Free formal education
o HIV/ AIDS prevention and counseling services and psychosocial support
o a safe and enabling environment where their needs are met in a stigma free environment.
Asha disbursed $14,000 to this project, and the monies are being used for staff salaries, school supplies, classroom and dormitory furniture.
