Fellow Citizens of Ascension Parish,In these last days of my career in publicoffice, there have been numerousfalsehoods, half truths and outright liestold by a candidate about my record asAscension Parish President. I havechosen not to endorse any candidatefor Parish President because settingthe record straight is far moreimportant to me.
INSTEAD OF ACANDIDATE, I HAVECHOSEN TO ENDORSETHE TRUTH!
*One candidate for Parish President's"Plan" calls for secondary access fromEdenborne to relieve traffic onSt. Landry and Hwy. 30
TRUTH: DONE ... Constructionscheduled to begin 1st quarter 2016
*His "Plan" calls for a plan and protocolfor turning on drainage pumps
TRUTH: DONE ... Been in place
*This candidate's "Plan" calls forcomprehensive evaluation of AnimalShelter, training and certification, andincrease pet adoptions
TRUTH: DONE ... Signed agreementwith CARA to take it over. Also, thiscandidate's "Plan" calls for a cooperativeendeavor agreement with LSU Vet.School. ...
TRUTH: DONE ... Been in place foryears/c'mon man!
*The candidate's "Plan" calls foreconomic development
TRUTH: DONE ... DONE ... DONE!Ascension Parish leads the state ineconomic investment and growth;
Ascension Economic Development Corp.and the Ascension Tourist Commission(and others) are continuing atremendous economic momentum.Let's not lose this energy andmomentum!
*This candidate claims parish workershaven't gotten a raise in 10 years.
TRUTH: Minimum pay scale forparish workers raised above minimumwage ($10.00 an hour now) and raisesgiven every year FOR LAST 10 YEARS.If you're going to tell a lie, you shouldtell one that can't be proven,Mr. Candidate!
*This candidate's "Plan" says do moreon recreation.
TRUTH: WE ARE ... DONE ...always more can be done, but myAdministration has built 2 waterparks atOak Grove and 1 in Donaldsonville, builtnew park at Hillaryville, new lights beinginstalled throughout parish in parks,7 new soccer fields being built, built andmaintain a park for OUR VETERANS,purchased Lamar Dixon andDonaldsonville Fair Grounds andprovided maintenance employees for allour parish parks.
*This candidate claims "transparency"is needed ...
TRUTH: DONE ... TRANSPARENCYHAS ALWAYS BEEN CLEAR ... all parishdocuments are public record ...financial transactions including contractsand budget are given to Council and/orcommittee and all are open topublic. All contracts over $50,000 arebid out even though not required by law...
*This candidate claims he will "endwasteful spending"...
TRUTH: CHECK YOUR FACTSBEFORE YOU OPEN YOUR MOUTH ...Ascension Parish Financial Office earnedthe prestigious FINANCIAL STATEMENTAWARD the past 5 years and the ANNU-AL BUDGET AWARD the past 4 years ...these awards granted by GFOA ...PLUS ... ASCENSION PARISH IS IN THEBEST FINANCIAL SHAPE IT HAS EVERBEEN ACCORDING TO PARISHAUDITORS!!!!
*This candidate WANTS TO RAID OURPARISH SURPLUS...
TRUTH: NO WAY!!!! The parish"rainy day fund" must stay in place.Obviously, this candidate does no knowwhat a hurricane can do to a parish.Check out Livingston Parish!
*This candidate wants to build a leveearound Astroland and Pelican Point. ...
TRUTH: DONE ... Waiting on thepermit to build a ring levee aroundthis area ...
*Claims we need to work withneighboring parishes to insure floodwaters are not pushed on them ...
TRUTH: DONE ... Already have atask force in place to do just this. Why didn't the candidate even ask?Roads: The candidate questioned wherethe $12.5 million went and states thatoverlay projects are only done inelection year.
FACT: Road projects have been ongo-ing my last 7.5 years in office. Moremoney has been spent on road projects,
road improvements, and turn lanesduring my last two terms($87.8 million) than in the history
of the parish.
Check the history and check the FACTS!There are numerous other falsehoods, half truths and lies this candidatecontinues to say to our people. Frankly,so many I can't address them all.Perhaps it's due to lack of experience-not knowing what you are talking about-or perhaps it's just politics. Either way,I want to set the record straight.
During my career, I've spent countlesshours and days working to improve ourparish. It has been an honor! I can'tthank you enough for the opportunityto make a difference.
This is my last few days in public office.I will never serve again. I am both sadand honored ...The Biblical admonition, if I can beallowed to paraphrase, sums it up best:I have run my race, fought the goodfight, and did my best.
It has been my honor to have servedyou and my responsibility to leave youwith the truth.
Thank you,Tommy MartinezAscension Parish President

IF YOU HAVE BEEN WONDERING WHO TOMMY MARTINEZ WOULDENDORSE IN THE ELECTION FOR HIS REPLACEMENT: ...

Create a Wardrobeof Gold Jewelrywith Layne Gautreau
It takes time and thought toassemble a jewelry wardrobe thatis just right for you. First takestock of your features and decide
what to play up and what tominimize. Analyze your facialshape, body shape and size, coloring, and the type of clothesyou wear. Decide what your needsare and in what order ofimportance, then accumulate thoseitems through the years.
The finest gold jewelry is made of18 karat or 14 karat gold, and awide choice of beautiful finishes is
available for you to choose from.Earrings - These are the mostnoticed piece of personal jewelry. The size and shape of an earringdepends on your face and earlobe. When buying earrings, alwaysshake your head to see if they fitproperly. And try both earrings on,since no two ears are alike. Startwith a pair of plain gold earringsfor daily wear and add others later.
Rings - Engagement and weddingrings are generally the first ringsworn by women. But its alwaysnice to have a fashionable goldring set with diamonds or coloredgems to wear for daytime orevening wear.
Bracelets - The classic gold bangleshould be your first choice. Its awearable, versatile style that showsquiet good taste and can be com-bined with bangle styles in variouswidths or bangles set with coloredfaceted gems.
BirthstonesNovember - Topaz & CitrineIn ancient times, Topaz in itspurest, colorless state wassometimes mistaken for diamond.Today iconic for its yellow andgolden colors having an unmistak-able color characteristic in ImperialTopaz of a deep yellow almostorange, tinged with gold.
Citrine is the alternate Novemberbirthstone. The description ofcitrine is contained in its namefrom the French word, citron, meaning lemon. Citrines actuallycover a wider range of yellowsthan do most lemons, includingrich orangey yellows. Citrines aregreatly esteemed for their warm, earthy color and vivacious sparkle.
Jewelry DoctorGold Jewelry - How to KeepGold Jewelry Shiny Bright
Gold is one of the noble metals, and high karat gold (14K and
18K) usually needs little care sinceit resists both oxidation andcorrosion. But some gold jewelrywith a lower number of karats candiscolor because of the higher per-centage of base metals in the alloy.A bath of warm soapy water willeasily remove any discoloration.
Alcohol dissolves tough dirt, suchas coatings of makeup or grease, which can be brushed away with asoft toothbrush or eyebrow brush.Do not use ammonia, which turnssolder joints dark or toothpaste orany other abrasive because it willscratch jewelry metals.
Give jewelry a final warm waterrinse and polish with a jewelerspolishing cloth. Dont forget torinse over a basin or bowl, neverover an open sink, where jewelrycan go down the drain!

HappyThanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving Yall! Itsthat time of year where pumpkin
spice is plentiful, stores arestocking Christmas dcor andyoure jotting your to do list forthe next two months. This timeof year can get super hectic, soIve got some reminders to keepthe peace this Thanksgiving.
Minimal Menu
Im as guilty as anyone. I lovecooking and sometimes myThanksgiving menu can get out ofcontrol. Just one more side dishwont be a big deal to cook. Ivetold myself in years past, but thenall those casseroles add up. Ivefound myself on Thanksgivingmorning feeling overwhelmedabout all the things I needed to
get done.
So, keep it simple. Dont be afraidto pick up your favorite sides fromlocal restaurants or grocery stores.(I have a friend that lives forPicadillys carrot souffl!) Juststick with a main dish and acouple of EASY side dishes. PaulaDeens corn casserole is one of myfavorites. (Recipe included)The recipe is very easy andsuper delicious.
Also, if you have company comingto enjoy the feast, ask everyone tobring a dish, drinks, or evennapkins or supplies needed forthe day.
Simple Schedule
I am the child of a broken home,so I always had many stops duringthe holidays. Now, I really enjoystaying home and asking familyand friends stop by for a visit or toeat. If you do travel, keep it totwo stops max. Theresnothing worse than spendingmost of your holiday on the road!
Give Thanks
Most importantly, be sure to pauseand be thankful for all that youhave. Show those in your life howmuch they mean to you. If youcant be with them, then reach outand let them know they are loved.

Uber. The app that has takenthe world by storm has foundits way into music, movies, andnewsbroadcasts.
What is Uber? Uber is theride sharing app that allowspeople to order a "personal
driver" within minutes. Yousimply open the app, request aride where you are located, andconfirm. That's it, and withinminutes a driver will pull upand pick you up. Before youconfirm your request, you canestimate what your fare will beand users will discover that rates
are often cheaper than a taxi.Local users can choose betweenUberX, UberXL, and UberSELECT. Uber X is a four doorcar that can seat up to fourpassengers. Uber XL can seatup to 7 passengers, and Uber
Select are luxury vehicles.Uber is available all over theworld. Baton Rouge and NewOrleans are no exception to thisavailability, but what you maynot have realized is that Uber isavailable in Ascension Parish.Opening the app you will oftenfind drivers available and
residents of Prairieville canoften get an UberX. Manymore users can find vehiclesavailable simply by switching toUber XL or SELECT as theUber app will increase theradius for these vehicles.
Popular on LSU campus andlocal bars, Uber is seen as agreater alternative to driving
home and much cheaper thanthe consequences after having anight on the town. However, tothe airport, work, the dentist,or to simply to go out andenjoy a drink with their mealare some of the many reasons
why people use Uber.
Uber drivers gravitate towhere they are most needed, soas more people in Ascension useUber, the more Uber drivers
will become available inAscension. The greatestavailability in Ascension areusually Sunday nights as manypeople take an Uber down
Airline hwy and into Gonzales
for a night out, while LSUhome games attract the Uberdrivers to campus and makeevening availability limited in
Ascension. However, the moreUber is utilized in Ascension, the more available Uberbecomes.

Now, the first thing you haveto understand is that a goodbusiness strategy is hard todevelop.
Oftentimes, strategy efforts are
rushed and that makes strategiesflawed from the beginning. Therefore, we have formulatedseveral steps you can follow toexecute a solidified businessstrategy.
Elevator Pitch
Whats an elevator pitch you ask?Simply stated, it is a concisedescription of your business. Itsthe short speech you or youremployees can give to promoteyour company quickly. This should
be updated as often as annually.
Mission Statement
Each company should have amission statementand believeit or not, yours is no different. For many internal decisions, yourmission statement will helpemployees make choices in-linewith helping the company reachits mission.
SWOT
In addition, you should alsoinclude a SWOT analysis in yourstrategic plan. These are the
strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of yourbusiness. A SWOT will help youdiscover your own strengths youmust develop to improve your
company. Completing this analysiswill also help you best achieveyour growth goals.
Goals
This is a critical component ofyour strategy development.Defining and achieving goalsare what makes companiessuccessful.
First, determine your 5-year orlong-term goals. Next, identifywhat you want to achieve within
the next year.
Work backwards again two orthree more times to figure outwhat you want to do in the nextquarter and the next month.
Key Performance IndicatorsKey Performance Indicators arealso known as KPIs. These aremetrics companies use tomeasure how it is performing.
At dezinsINTERACTIVE, wemeasure our success on amonthly basis. For example, wedetermine how many websites

Team
Once your plan is defined, youneed individuals to help youcarry out your strategy. In theteam section, you should listcurrent employees. You shouldalso identify the types of peopleyou should hire to achieveyour goals.
Operations Plan
This portion of your strategyplan will help bring your goalsand opportunities to fruition. It iswhere you organize individualprojects and how they will becompleted. A Gantt chart may behelpful in doing this section.

Diet andOral health.
By Calvin Bessonet, DDS,FAGD
Your body is like a complex machine. The foods you choose as fuel and howoften you fill up affect your generalhealth and that of your teeth and gums. Many dentists are concerned that theirpatients are consuming record numbers ofsugar-filled sodas, sweetened fruit drinks, and non-nutritious snacks that affect their
teeth. These items generally have little ifany nutritional value and over time theycan take a toll on teeth.
Eating patterns and food choices amongchildren and teens are important factorsthat affect how quickly youngsters maydevelop tooth decay. When bacteria(plaque) come into contact with sugar inthe mouth, acid is produced, which attacksthe teeth for 20 minutes or more. Thiscan eventually result in tooth decay. Not sure you're getting the nutrients, vita-mins and minerals needed by your body(and your teeth and gums)? Check out theU.S. Department of Agriculture's Website. The USDA oversees the nutritionalhealth of the nation. The agency's dietaryrecommendations are designed to pro-mote optimal health and to prevent obesi-ty-related diseases including cardiovasculardisease, Type 2 diabetes and cancers.
The government's recommendationsrecognize that people have differentdietary needs at various stages of life. Theyoffer guidance for children and adultsbased on their levels of physical activity.
Your physician or a registered dietician canalso provide suggestions for your dailyfood intake.
Foods that contain sugars of any kindcan contribute to tooth decay. Almost allfoods, including milk or vegetables, havesome type of sugar. However, they should-n't be removed from our diets becausemany of them contain important nutri-ents. And they add pleasure to eating. Tohelp control the amount of sugar you con-sume, read food labels and choose foodsand beverages that are low in added sug-ars. Added sugars often are present in soft
drinks, candy, cookies and pastries. If your diet lacks certain nutrients, it maybe more difficult for tissues in your mouthto resist infection. This may contribute toperiodontal (gum) disease, a major causeof tooth loss in adults. Although poornutrition does not cause periodontal dis-ease directly, many researchers believe thatthe disease progresses faster and could bemore severe in people with nutrient-poordiets
What can you do?
Maintain a healthy diet. Make sure water is readily available. Limit the number of between-meal
snacks. When you must snack, choosenutritious foods that are low in sugar. Brush thoroughly twice a day with a flu-oride toothpaste that has the AmericanDental Association's Seal of Acceptance. Floss or use another kind of interdentalcleaner daily to remove plaque (a thin filmof bacteria) from under the gums andbetween teeth. Schedule regular dental visits for check-ups and cleanings. Keep a food diary for a week. Recordevery item you eat and drink, includinghard candies or chewing gum that con-tains sugar. Compare the diary to the foodPyramid recommendations.
How does the food you eatcause tooth decay?
When you eat, food passes through yourmouth. Here it meets the germs, or bacte-ria, that live in your mouth. You may haveheard your dentist talk about plaque.Plaque is a sticky film of bacteria.
These bacteria love sugars found inmany foods. When you don't clean yourteeth after eating, plaque bacteria use thesugar to produce acids that can destroythe hard surface of the tooth, called enam-el. After a while, tooth decay occurs. Themore often you eat and the longer foodsare in your mouth, the more damageoccurs.
How do I choosefoods wisely?
Some foods that you would least expectcontain sugars. Some examples are fruits, milk, bread, cereals and even vegetables.
The key to choosing foods wisely is notto avoid these foods, but to think before
you eat. Not only what you eat but whenyou eat makes a big difference in yourdental health. Eat a balanced diet andlimit between-meal snacks. If you are on aspecial diet, keep your physician's advice inmind when choosing foods. For gooddental health, keep these tips in mind
when choosing your meals and snacks.
What are tips for betterdental health?
1. To get a balanced diet, eat a variety offoods. Choose foods from each of the fivemajor food groups: breads, cereals and other grain products fruitsvegetables meat, poultry and fish milk, cheese and yogurt2. Limit the number of snacks that youeat. Each time you eat food that containssugars, the teeth are attacked by acids for20 minutes or more.3. If you do snack, choose nutritiousfoods, such as cheese, raw vegetables, plain
yogurt, or a piece of fruit.4. Foods that are eaten as part of a mealcause less harm. More saliva is releasedduring a meal, which helps wash foodsfrom the mouth and helps lessen theeffects of acids.
5. Brush twice a day with a fluoride tooth-paste that has the American DentalAssociation Seal of Acceptance.6. Clean between your teeth daily withfloss or interdental cleaners.7. Visit your dentist regularly. Your dentistcan help prevent problems from occurringand catch those that do occur while theyare easy to treat.
What's the concern withselling soft drinks inschools via pouring rightsarrangements?
To the best of the Association's knowl-edge, pouring rights contracts inevitably
include the promotion of sugar containingproducts as well as other non-nutritioussoft drink products. In addition to a sin-gular brand endorsement, it has been
widely reported that these arrangementsoblige schools to allow pervasive market-ing to children and include minimum salesincentives that can influence children'sconsumption patterns.
Why is this comingup now?
Dentists are aware of reports that since1998 over 300 school districts in 32 stateshave entered into pouring rights contracts, some contracts lasting 10 years - longerthan the term of most school board mem-bers. The Association has for many yearsopposed targeting children in the promo-tion and advertisement of foods low innutritional value and high in cariogeniccarbohydrates. Also, the Associationencourages its state and local dental soci-eties to work with school officials toensure that school food services, including
vending services and school stores, providenutritious food selections.
What can kids drink?
Choose beverages that hydrate and con-tribute to good nutrition. Drinking 8-12cups of water a day is important and con-suming optimally fluoridated water can
help prevent tooth decay. A resource listof nutritious foods and beverages thatcould be sold in schools was developed bythe California Center for Public Health
Advocacy and may be found by clickinghere. The California Center for PublicHealth Advocacy resource list recom-mends beverages that may be sold inschools including, beverages that containat least 50% fruit juice with no addedsweeteners, water, low fat milk and non-fatmilk. This resource list was used to devel-op part of the 2001 California law, whichestablishes nutritional requirements forfoods and beverages sold and served tochildren during breaks and through vend-ing machines.

Taking Careto Care
Pablo Casals, a world renowncellist, once said, I feel thecapacity to care is the thing
which gives life its deepestsignificance. As an Elder Lawattorney, I often write or speakabout subjects that include the
word care such as long-termcare planning, Medicare, familycaregivers, and care planning forspecial needs children. One of themost rewarding things I do isassisting families in securingneeded care for their loved ones. Its always heartbreaking, though, to see friends and familymembers feel helpless when lovedones are taken advantage of bythose purporting to care forthem. Thats why, in honor of
November being NationalAlzheimers Disease Month,National Family CaregiversMonth, National Home Care andHospice Month, and NationalLong-Term Care AwarenessMonth, I want to share twooften-overlooked resources
available to those who areseeking the best quality of carefor their loved ones.
Have you ever heard of anombudsman? If your answer isno, youre not alone. Even many
who have heard of them dontfully understand their role. Irecently met with a network ofprofessional elder care providersfrom across the greater BatonRouge area to hear from a localombudsman. The room waspacked as we gathered to listento her speak about her role. Some of the attendingprofessionals were hearing thisinformation for the first time
even though they work with theelderly every day.
Ombudsman is a Swedishword that means citizenrepresentative. According to theLouisiana Governors Office ofElderly Affairs (GOEA),ombudsmen work with residents, their families, communityorganizations, and otherinterested parties to addressconcerns that affect the lives ofresidents at long-term carefacilities. Through the GOEA,
Louisiana has a stateombudsman, regionalombudsmen, and at least oneombudsman in each parish who isresponsible for visiting long-termcare facilities.
Louisiana law forbids anycaregiver at any facility tointerfere with an ombudsmansfree access to speak with patientsor protect their confidentiality.
While ombudsmen do notdirectly prosecute or solve casesof abuse or neglect, they provide
a voice for patients and makesure their concerns rangingfrom missing laundry to physicalharm or asset exploitation areaddressed. Ombudsmen aretrained to recognize and speak onbehalf of residents rights, whichare often overlooked or violatedby residents own familymembers or employed caregivers.
You can call toll free at1-866-632-0922, locally at225-342-7100, or visit
www.goea.louisiana.gov to learnmore about the ombudsmanprogram and how you can helpidentify and respond to elder
abuse.Individuals should also beaware that a recent Louisiana lawnow allows family members orother interested parties to bring acivil lawsuit against any agentunder a Power of Attorney(POA) who may be exploiting apersons assets rather thanutilizing those assets for thepersons needs. While prior lawalready directed a mandatary (theagent named in an individualsPOA) to provide any informationor an account of actions as
requested by the principal (theindividual who named themandatary to act on his or herbehalf), it didnt provide forcircumstances in which theprincipal could not request anaccounting because they werementally or physically unable todo so. Act 356 of the 2014Louisiana Legislature makesprovisions for this while alsoprotecting against frivolouslawsuits. Furthermore, concernedthird parties now have another
course of action beyond simplynotifying Elderly ProtectiveServices when they suspect casesof exploitation - petitioning thecourt under Act 356 to keep amandatary from furtherexpending any of the principalsassets until an investigation iscomplete.
I am grateful to work alongsidenumerous professionals in myarea who are passionate aboutproviding quality of care to theirclients. As I regularly recom-mend, individuals planning forlong-term care should consult
with qualified elder law and
healthcare professionals to ensurethat their best interests are fullyand legally provided for.Ombudsmen and Act 356 aretwo additional resources availableto assist in the care of those wehold dear.

Her first sight of this world was alush green forest, another small spottedcreature lying next to her and her bigproud mama standing over her. Babygirl, baby boy and mama deer enjoyedthe warmth of summer and an abun-dance of food for the next few months. As the days began to get shorter, the
food supply began to change to a vari-ety of nuts that fell from the massivetrees of the forest. As the temperaturebegan to get cooler, their bodies beganto consume more of these nutrients tokeep them warm. For most of the fall, life had been fairly peaceful with theexception of a group of wild dogs thatwould chase them around at times.Mama deer always seemed to figureout a way to outsmart the pesky crea-tures, but now they were beginning tohave run ins with this two legged crea-ture that always seemed to have aninterest in them. The small familyhated the smell of this new nuisance
and would avoid them every time theirodor was detected. The aggravation ofthese creatures eventually made thefamily move to a more secluded thickarea deep in the forest where they weresurrounded by water. They wouldspend most of the daylight hours inthat location and would only ventureout in the darkness of night.
One night the family came upon anarea with yellow food scattered aboutthe forest floor. The cold of winter hadset in and this easy food source becamea blessing to the group. For some timethey would only venture to the sight inthe darkness. Winter coldness began to
tighten its grip and the need to keepwarm became a necessity. On a coldJanuary evening mama deer led herfamily to the sight before darkness hadset in. She never heard the loud noisethat put her to sleep for eternity, butbaby girl and baby boy did and theybolted away to their safe haven deep inthe forest. They returned to the spotseveral times in search of her but neversaw her again. They continued to visitthe food site, only at night, until oneday it vanished.
When spring arrived food becameeasy to find and baby girl and baby boylived happily together through the
warmth of the summer. Mama deerhad taught them well on how to escapethe pesky dog creatures and the smellof the two legged nuisance had disap-
peared from the woods for months.Fall came peacefully and leaves
began to fall. During this period, thebrother and sister decided to go sepa-rate ways. Baby girl joined a group ofother females and baby boy venturedoff on his own. The smell of the twolegged creatures soon returned and the
group of females always seemed toavoid them. The days grew shorter andthe weather got colder as time passed. On a cold December night, baby boyapproached the group of females andbegan to chase baby girl around. Thiscontinued on for several days. She hadlost connection with the other femalesin her group. Every effort was given toavoid him, but he would not give up.She soon accepted his demand and anew seed of life had been planted.Winter turned to spring. Spring turnedto summer and some seven monthslater baby girl gave birth to a beautifulspotted doe fawn. And so life goes
on...In a way it's sad, I must admit. Life
itself can be sad at times. Every crea-ture that lives will eventually die. Thatfact you can take to the bank. There'sno escaping it. There's nothing wrongwith the taking of an animal's life forfood consumption. Every steak, porkchop, chicken, shellfish etc that youpurchase from the store was a livingcreature at one time. Our civilizationwould not have survived to this point, and from this point forward withoutthe use of living creatures. In reality it'sa matter of life and death......

If you were expecting to see mynew Thanksgiving song to rival allthose Christmas Classics-well,Jimmy Fallon has already stolenmy idea. To the tune of MileyCyruss Wrecking Ball-here isthe Turkey Day Anthem-Youmade me cook a Butterball, Andthen a green bean casserole, Andall you did was watch football
You see, there are moreimportant things on my agendaright now. I have an electionto run.
While others may be content toconfine themselves to running forsuch meaningless offices as ParishPresident or Governor ofLouisiana, I intend to go for thewhole enchilada (an ethnicattempt to get the Latino vote)and go whole hog or nothing(gives a folksy, down-homeappearance) to win the onlyoffice that interests me-King ofthe World.
But as former governor JohnMcKeithen used to say in hisNorth Louisiana drawl, Imgonna need a little hep.
First of all, well need a musicalanthem that the entire world canidentify with. Remember whenthe Beatles did the first world-wide broadcast via satellite in1968? In what can only bedescribed as a stroke of genius,John Lennon chose All You NeedIs Love as the one tune toperform. The songs message
came through loud and clear inany language.
But since that ones alreadybeen done, my regimes themesong will be Joy to the World-not the Christmas carol but theone made popular by Three DogNight in the late 60s. Not onlydoes the song-written by HoytAxton who went on to play Billysdad in Gremlins-promote hopeand happiness, it also supplies uswith a mascot for the campaign.
Everybody loves the hero of thesongs first verse Jeremiah theBullfrog (appeal to animal lovers)
who enjoyed a taste of wineevery now and then. And therepetitious chorus would have theentire world singing along fromLower Slobbovia to Rooster Poo,Arkansas.
Im sure Three Dog Nightwould not be opposed to a revivalof their classic although I prefer alocal version by Nancy Marchandof Duplesssis.
Once our world-wide anthem isin place, I will then start toappoint my cabinet members. These will be extremely importantbecause even when I am King of
the World, I intend to be likeMoses (biblical reference to appealto religious groups) and lean onmy staff. So for my first
appointee, I address a world-wideproblem on everyones mindright now
Depression Despot-Tony Soprano.
With a little help from this famousJersey mobster, we should havethe economy up and runningagain in no time.
Sure his popular series closingleft a lot to be desired. But youshould see Tony and his boys inaction when the closing involvesdebts to be collected.
Can you picture some fat catCEO from AIG or Enron sittingon his yacht in the Cayman Islands
when suddenly theres a knock atthe door? Enter Tony, Paulie,Guido and few other members ofthe family wielding Louisville
Slugger baseball bats-the oldmodels made of ash not maple.
Were here to make you anoffer you cant refuse, beginsTony. We are of the opinion thatyouse should return the 90 milliondollar settlement you received tothe taxpayers and nobody will gethurt. Otherwise, Paulie andGuido and I are going to take alittle batting practice on strategicparts of your body sorta like someof my Vegas crew did to Joe Pesciin Casino.
A few more stops like that andwell be able to bail out not only
the USA but also several Europeancountries and the city ofKatmandu.
Middle Eastern Mediator-Dr. Phil.
Oprahs favorite problem-solverwould have no shortage of busi-ness in his first assignmentin Iraq.
But I am confident that in just amatter of days, the good doctorwould have the Shiites singing,Keep on the Sunni side theSunnis reading Mother Goosepoetry to little children aboutkurds and whey and the Kurdsplaying Wheel of Fortunewhile trying to buy a vowel fromthe Shiites.
Later, Dr. Phil will try to teachthe Iraqis some old Jewish songs
like Jew Believe in Magic andwill say clever quotes like, Therehas never been a good war or abad piece. If his methods work,
then weve cooled off one of ourhot spots in the planet. And if thenatives get upset and behead him,we have a martyr for our cause.
Dr. Phil would have wanted itthat way.
Award-Winning Director ofImmigration-Clint Eastwood.
A firm proponent of TeddyRoosevelts Speak softly and carrya big stick policy, Eastwoodsbig stick was often a .44magnum-the most powerfulhandgun known to man.
His relationship with theMexican community dates back tothe days of the Fistful of Dollarstrilogy where he helped solve a
feud between two families south ofthe Border by killing every singleperson in both families.
There are the Rojos on oneside and the Baxters on the otherside and me in the middle, pointed out the astutecompromiser.
In the sequel A Few DollarsMore, Eastwood again showedhis tact and diplomacy by infiltrat-ing a Mexican gang, gaining theirtrust and then killing every singlemember for the reward money.
The third installment-TheGood, the Bad and the Ugly sawClint team up with a Mexicannamed Tuco for a very profitablepartnership. Eastwood rewardsTuco at the end by leaving himbalanced precariously on a cross ina graveyard with a noose aroundhis neck.
If this isnt the guy to work outbetter relations between us andour Mexican neighbors, I wantyou to tell me who is.
Religious Riter-John Prine.
Separation of church and statein my new world order? Never. Iintend to have a religious gumbothat includes everything fromHaitian voodoo to Willie Nelsonreincarnation.
However, I do thing we mayneed to combine some of theworlds many religions into just afew in order to get along and
avoid those nasty little wars aboutwhose God is better. Call it amass merger if you will.
And once again using music asthe universal language, I will callupon my singer/songwriter buddyfrom Chicago to help soothe anyhurt feelings that may occur.
John Prines philosophical tunePretty Good contains a verseabout religion that will becomethe cornerstone of myadministration. In the key of D,it goes something like this
I heard Allah and Buddha weresinging at the Saviors feast,
And up in the sky an ArabianRabbi fed Quaker Oats to a priest,
Pretty good, not bad, they cantcomplain.
Cause actually all them gods arejust about the same.
Prine will be assisted in hisduties by Nashvilles Larry Gatlinwho once offended Christians andJews alike with his winos lamentin Midnight Choir
Will there be Mogen David inheaven-Dear Lord wed all like toknow,
Will there be Mogen David inheaven, Sweet Jesus?
If they dont, who the hellwants to go?
Inspirational is not a strongenough word for those lyrics.

Gender General-RichardKinky Friedman.
If you think Im overloading thiscabinet with musicians, youreprobably right. But remember, this gentleman received almost13 per cent of the vote in agubernatorial race in the greatstate of Texas so he is wellqualified to repair the genderbenders that are taking place all
over our globe.Sure he was voted MaleChauvinist Pig of 1978 for hisstirring ballad about womensrights-Get Your Biscuits in theOven and Your Buns in the Bed,but Kinky has grown a lot moresensitive to the issues since then.
Witness his answer to theabortion issue during his Texascampaign.
Im not pro-life and Im notpro-choice, Im pro-football
And his touching takes ongay rights.
I support gay marriage. Ibelieve they have a right to be asmiserable as the rest of us.
Kinkys first assignment will beto establish a womens beachvolleyball league in Iran.
Ruler of Race Relations-Morgan Freeman.
This one was a no-brainer.Freeman has shown the ability tolead an all-black unit in the Civil
War (Glory), to deal with acranky old white woman in theDeep South (Driving MissDaisy) and to straighten out atumultuous world as God (BruceAlmighty).
And with that great baritonevoice of his, Freeman is a naturalto do all of our propaganda-oops-public service announcements thatwill air all over the globe.
Freeman has also shown the
ability to work closely withImmigration Director Eastwood(Million Dollar Baby) and willnot throw in the towel when thereal fighting begins.
Other key appointments willinclude
United Nations SecretaryGeneral-Nick Saban.
If St. Nick can rebuild adowntrodden Alabama team in afew short seasons, think what hecan do for the U.N.-an organiza-tion in total disarray.
And as far as the moodylabel unfairly bestowed on CoachSaban, I beg to differ. Moodypeople are happy some ofthe time.
Transportation Tsars- Batman,Spiderman and Ironman.
Hey, these guys never seem tohave any trouble making their way
through traffic. Lets get everyonea Batmobile (Isnt MorganFreeman head of Bruce WayneEnterprises? See how nicely this isall coming together.) Or some ofSpideys ultra-strong webbing ormaybe a couple of Ironmansrockets and well all soar abovethe traffic snarls below.
And, by the way, where are allthose jet packs we were promisedwe would all be using in the
21st century.
Weather Wizard-Jim Cantore.
One of my first actions as Kingof the World will be to changehurricane season from its currentJune through November status toa one month period in December.
Next our designated hurricanehalter Jim Cantore, who alwaysseems to know exactly where thestorm is going to hit, will be sentout to issue an out-of-season ticketto any hurricane that tries to enterthe coast during the old six-monthperiod. Violators will be sent backto Africa to do time-out in theSahara Desert where they candump all the rain they want to.
Unfortunately, the rare stormsthat do come in December willhave to be allowed to enter themainland. The advantages will bethat generators will not be neededto run air conditioners in thewinter, families will probably all bepiled in one house for Christmas
anyway and Santa Claus can usethe wind at his back to expeditethe delivery of gifts.
Now I know what yourethinking. With all these dutiesbeing designated, what am I-asKing of the World- going tohave left to do?
The answer comes in the finalverse of our national anthem
If I were the King of the
World, tell you what Id do,Throw away the cars and thelaws and the wars, and makesweet love to you.
Joy to the world, all the boysand girls
Epilog-
Despite this poor attempt atsatire, there is an importantelection scheduled for the secondto last Saturday in November.Whether you vote for theexperience of Kenny Matassa orthe fresh face and approach ofClint Cointment-whether youprefer the West Point discipline ofJohn Bel Edwards or the BestFriend of the working girlscandidate David Vitter-go outand vote. BizarreHunting
ProductsYears ago I had a huntingBuddy put doe urine in an Afrinspray bottle. He misted it in the
woods while hunting. Onemorning he had that Afrinbottle on the dash board of histruck. A fellow hunter walkedby the truck saw it. He had
sinus conges-tion andreached andgrabbed the
spray bottle forrelief. After thefirst squirt theonly relief hehad was of hislunch.
As I lookedthrough somehunting prod-ucts I came across a productthat I could easily see as anaccident waiting to happen. This product bottles doeestrous urine in a hot sauce
looking bottle. Imagine puttingthat on your turnip greensthinking its vinegar or spicy oil.Its spicy alright but a littletangy.
Here is a product that issupposed to be humorous in anattempt to get men to cleanand wash up more often.Comes in a variety of manly
scents including beer, bacon, baseball glove and more. Madein USA. Also available inFootball, Christmas Pine Tree,Cedar Log Cabin, Popcorn,Bonfire, Cash, Coffee,Democrat, Fresh Cut Grass,Republican, Top Soil,Cinnamon Whiskey.
What? I have a few questionsabout some of these scents.
At the camp I generally smelllike bacon as I like to cook
breakfast. I smell like thebonfire from the night before. There are some times whenthere are whiskey smells floatingaround the camp and Im suresome spilled on me. The smellIve never had is the smell ofcash. What the hell does thatsmell like, Donald Trump.
The two scents that really got
me were of a Democrat or aRepublican. What does aRepublican smell like. WallStreet? What does a Democratsmell like? The working class?Dont get me started. I think ifthere was a hypocritical smell it
would pertain to both. The last product is a Scent
Crusher Ozone On The Go.You plug it into your cigarette
lighter and let the ozonescrubber neutralizes the air inthe truck keeping your scents
from your cloths to help hideyou in the woods. I think thisproduct works best on the wayhome. It can help me rid my
vehicle from the bacon, beerhand smell or the doe scent onmy boot. Or heaven forbid ademocrat rubbed up againstme. Maybe the scrubber willhelp us all smell independent.

heard also after identifying his

order a drink at a booth and
returned to find his ball missing. Therefore they had to play his

hole.I myself missed a putt from

Cooking Gourmet at Homewith SNOS SEAFOOD & STEAKS
Executive Chef
Ben Jarreau
Ingredients:
8 oz crab fingers
1 lb whole unsalted butter
2 tsp table salt
1 tsp cayenne pepper
tsp black pepper
1 tsp minced garlic
1 tsp chopped parsley 2 tsp liquid or powdered crab boil
Method:
First cut the butter into small cubes and put in the microwave
for 1 minute to soften or let stand at room temperature until
soft. In a food processor or mixer add the softened butter and
all other seasonings. Mix together until all the seasonings are
incorporated throughout the butter. In a saut pan add about
4 oz of the compound butter and bring it up to a simmer.
Then add your crab fingers. Let the crab fingers heat for about
1 to 2 minutes gently moving them around in the pan.
Finish with a little more compound butter if desired and enjoy!
The remaining butter can be rolled in plastic wrap and stored
in the freezer for later use. This butter works great with shrimp
and crawfish as well.
