The Asbury Park Music in Film Festival has an-nounced its first film and its a biggie with a big star.
The Miles Davis biopic Miles Ahead from SonyPictures Classics will make its New Jersey debutApril 8 at the Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park, andstar and director Don Cheadle will be on hand to par-ticipate in a film discussion.
The film focuses on the Davis of the late 70s.He was standing on that knifes edge at that point,
and I dont think he even knew which way it was goingto go, Cheadle said to Entertainment Weekly. Musi-cally and what he did with his art form was amazing tome all the time, for the most part. But for me, as a hu-man and an artist and someone whos a creative per-son, what happens when you just stop for five years?

TRENTON - When New Jersey Gov. Chris Christiewas a candidate for president, he spent weeks at a timein other states, where his stump speech frequently in-cluded stories about his mothers battle with lung can-cer following decades of cigarette smoking that start-ed in her teens.
Yet back home, Christie has dug in against legisla-
tion to institute a statewide ban on smoking at publicbeaches and parks. He vetoed such a bill in 2014. Law-makers began advancing a reintroduced bill this weekbut there are few signs that Christie is ready to changehis position.
There are a handful of smoke-free beaches andboardwalks in New Jersey. Jeff Tittel of the state Sier-ra Club says there should be more, citing impacts fromsecond-hand smoke and litter.
Our volunteers last year picked up over 7,000 ciga-rette butts just on the beaches in Ocean County, Titteltold lawmakers at a public hearing Monday, before anAssembly panel voting unanimously to advance BillA-893.
The measure would extend to parks and beachesprovisions of the New Jersey Smoke Free Air Actprohibiting smoking in indoor public places and work-places. The Senate is expected to introduce a counter-part measure soon.
On the Asbury Park Press Facebook page earlier
this week, beach-goers were split on the issue.

Unfortunately we did a get a veto last timearound. When we talk about the harmful effects ofsmoking and second-hand smoke, were alsotalking about keeping our pristine beaches andparks clean and litter-free.
