BEFORE YOU BEGIN Before starting any renovation or demolition project, several steps should be taken. Nuisance Notice of Intent (NOI) Comply with ADEQ Asbestos Clarification 2008-02. Survey: Using an Arkansas-certified asbestos inspector, check for the presence and condition of asbestos. Follow the 1 x 1 x 1 Rule: Only perform abatement activities on one residential building within the same one city block every one year. Notify the ADEQ Office of Air Quality, Asbestos Section, prior to any repair, remodeling, renovation, or demolition involving asbestos. Notify ADEQ prior to abatement activity. Complete and return Notice of Nuisance Abatement form. Hire professional companies and crews with training and credentials in asbestos inspection, removal, and disposal.
