President

CANDIDATE FOR ASB PRESIDENT 1 Hi everyone! I am running for 2018-2019 ASB President. With your vote, I can promise you I will do my best to make our school the BEST it can be. School dances is a great place to meet new people and make new friends. I would make the dances more exciting by having contests and giveaways. I’d like to see more school activities after school. For sports, I’d like to see soccer, flag football, baseball, and field hockey, just to name a few. Student involvement is important. To keep students informed on what’s happening during the week, a Townsend Instagram page will be posting updates on events, and activities. Too keep students motivated it will included positive messages as well. These are just a few of my ideas. If I am chosen to be ASB President I will listen to everyone’s ideas and suggestions. I will do anything to make 2018/2019 the MOST memorable year. Please vote for ME! Thank you!

CANDIDATE FOR ASB PRESIDENT 2

“Houston, we don’t have a problem...if you vote for me as your ASB president.” My fellow Townsend Students, I want you to know that I will make your school the greatest it can possibly be. So, “Do you know the way” to a better Townsend, well, of course, it is through voting for me as your ASB president. I have already thought of some cool activities like pizza parties, beach days, ice cream parties, video game nights, movie days, even hat days, and much more. But I don’t only want my ideas, I want your thoughts, ideas, opinions, and your suggestions. As you vote for me I want to tell you that I will always value everything you say that could improve this school. Whatever you tell me, I will put to use as I can make the great suggestions of Townsend students become a reality. I have the dedication and the devotion to shape our school to be the best it can be for everyone. If you vote for me I will never give up on you and I will never stop trying to make our school great! I understand how to do the job right as I am part of our Townsend Leadership. What this means for you is that with me as your president you can have an experienced and understanding president who can get the job done to its fullest potential. You may think this is not important but telling you firsthand, I know that it will take hard work and an understanding of being president, in order to create these awesome activities. One of the biggest changes I want to work on has to do with our school atmosphere. I want to change this as I want to create special activities, clubs, and other cool things that will encourage people to be positive and meet new people. With my position, I will also create petitions so that we could create more clubs. I feel that if we could truly branch out our clubs we could let students participate in clubs they truly enjoy. With me as your president, there are no limits to what we can achieve together. So as you vote I want you to think, who can make your school the greatest possible and I can assure you that my devotion and hard work will make the 2018-2019 school year the best year ever at Townsend with me as your president! CANDIDATE FOR ASB PRESIDENT 3 Are you tired of being confused when dances are? Are you done with going to grab a paper towel and realizing they are empty yet again? Well as your ASB President I will make sure our school is the best in the district! Have you ever been bored during assembly that seems to drag on for hours? We’ve all been there! I will make sure all assemblies are engaging and most importantly fun! I will not stop until I find the best and funniest speakers on the topic! Now let’s talk about spirit games. I think that they might need a little bit of a change! With me as your president we will have recent music and games that are entertaining! Also, I will make the games include more people, so you don’t have to wait in those looong lines anymore! Also, I would like to improve the dances. I will make the decorating grander and I will try to convince staff to let you go on your phones! Also, I will make the rallies funnier and make the crowd excited! I will also give out prizes everyone will want. Next, here’s the thing we all agree needs a change; the bathroom. The paper towels and toilet paper ALWAYS seem to be empty! I mean always! I will make sure that they are filled and try to convince administration t get better bathroom supplies. I mean who agrees that the toilet paper has got to go? Is it even still considered toilet paper? Also, I will work as an ambassador our school. I will work with our district to improve our overall school. I want to represent our school at meetings! Although it may seem tough I want to be the one person that represents our whole school! I am dependable and won’t let you down! I am very social and love to speak so I won’t have a problem at rallies or giving speeches! I am very determined and believe if I can set my mind to it I can do it! I will communicate with you students and all the administration! You will never be confused by a school activity again! I will be the best president I can be and make the necessary improvements everyone wants and ones that our school needs! If you want our school to change for the better, please vote for me!

CANDIDATE FOR ASB PRESIDENT 4 Act 1 , Scene 1 Busy school hallway, poster “Welcome to Townsend” in background Bob, Millie, and students enter stage, chattering happily Bob: Hey! It’s been a while. Millie: Bob! How was your summer break? Bob: Well, aside from catching a nasty cold and almost getting shredded into little bob-noodles by a crazy dog, it was good. Millie: (frowns) Oh. About that dog… Mike runs in, crashes into Millie and Bob Mike: Oof! Sorry guys! Ugh, I can’t believe I’m late for the first day of school! Anyways, have you guys heard about the new Townsend president? Millie: (nods, excited) Yeah! I saw the election results posted in the quad! I heard this year’s gonna be great with the new president! Bob: Guys, I’m hungry. Any food? Mike: Bob! Is food all you ever think about? Millie: Anyways, about the president, I’ve always wanted more fun stuff at lunchtime such as special activit ies and free prizes, and I’m so happy that the president made a lot more of those. Bob: Yeah, like the donut game. That donut was delish. Mike frowns, glares at Bob Mike: I also think that the new window posters, orientation videos, and ral ly videos are much better than the previous years, don’t you guys think? Millie: Yeah, especially the new interactive posters, fundraisers, and spirit day face painting booths. I loooove the positive change of atmosphere in our school! The president really is doing a good job. Mike: Did you guys vote for the president at the election last year? Millie: Yeah, I voted because the president promised schoolwide community service events and encourage people to stop vandal iz ing school property. Mike: I voted because the president said in her written speech that she/he would make poster contests for classes and hand out school bumper stickers. Bob: I remember one time last year after the election when I was getting teased by some eighth grader and the president helped me out. Mike: Yeah, I remember, too. Except I wasn’t doing anything to help… sorry.

Millie: It’s funny, I didn’t remember the president being so active last year. In fact, I hardly noticed the president at all! Mike: I know, right? I guess a person can change the position but the position can change the person, too. Bob takes out a package of Takis from his backpack, starts to eat. Mike glances at watch. Mike: It’s 5 minutes before the bell! I didn’t know it was this late. We’d better get going. Bob: Who wants the last Taki? Mike and Millie: ME!!! Mike and Millie glare at each other. Mike: Well, there’s one Taki and two of us, and one of us has to eat it before the bell rings, so how about we do it the easy way and let the oldest person have it? Millie: Hey, no fair! Just because I’m only eleven doesn’t mean that you can take advantage of that! Mike: Give it to me! Millie: Hey, ladies first! Mike snatches Taki from Bob, shoves it in his mouth. The five minute bell rings, and Mike runs to his new class, Millie chasing after and leaving Bob looking confused in the busy hallway. Millie: Give that back! Mike: It wasn’t yours to begin with. Bye-bye, Eleven. Millie: What? Mike: Your new nickname, Eleven. Sounds cute, doesn’t it? Millie: NO! Bob: Well, there they go. I’d better start heading off to class now. Bob walks off stage, Millie chases Mike off other side of stage. Students walk onto stage, carrying banner “VOTE!!!” Students: VOTE for our new president! ! ! VOTE! VOTE! VOTE!

Vice President

CANDIDATE FOR ASB VICE PRESIDENT 5

WHY I SHOULD BE YOUR VICE PRESIDENT There are so many reasons why I should be elected as your V.P. One promise that I will try to keep is that I will value your input. I will do my best to make school fun. If I was elected I would try and change many things. First, I would try and make the school dances just a little more interesting, like maybe having fun challenges or more activities there. I would also like to add movie nights once a month. I think it would be fun to be able to hang out with your friends. Another thing I would do if I was elected is I would try and listen to all of your ideas. I think we should have some surveys asking for student’s opinions on what should change or be added to the school environment. If you have a concern or you think you have a fun idea I will listen. I will not blow you off like you are unimportant. I will also like to add more clubs to the school. For an example, maybe we could add an artistic club where people who love to draw can show their talents. Or maybe we could have a soccer club where you can work on technique. In hope you all vote me for vice president.

CANDIDATE FOR ASB VICE PRESIDENT 6 Let me first start out by saying I love leadership. I would like you to vote for me to be your Vice President of Townsend ASB. As your Vice President I would also be the Extracurricular Commissioner, which means I would be planning our dances and trust me I will make them out of this world. One idea I have is to have cool games at the dances where you could win candy! ! ! ! I know a lot of you would love some free candy!!! Also, how many of you would like to have a #selfie contest!!! We could have it where the winner gets a cool prize like a front of the line lunch pass (for all the people who hate having to wait in the long lunch lines). If I became the planner for all the dances I would also let you vote on the dance themes since they are your school dances! I would also (and this is for all the people who love to dance) have a dance contest where the winner would get something like free snacks at the snack shack. We also might be able to do a live video where it projects on the screen like the big screens in baseball games. After the end of the dance I would ask you to write down what you thought of the dance, so I could use that to make our next dances even better. I have many more great ideas, but I don't want you reading this forever and I want to save some surprises for after you vote for me. For those of you that may be wondering what characteristics I have that would make me a great Vice President, I am very creative and I love taking on challenging projects. Also, I am very responsible and I make sure I get things done on time. I also love getting feedback from other people and using that to make things better. I hope you vote for me to be your Vice President and Extracurricular Commissioner.

Vote for Me for Vice President There are many reasons why I am running for Vice President. There are also many reasons why you should vote for me, I feel as if I have the characteristic and qualities that would be good in a Vice President, I would be able to take on the role of it and I want to change how people feel. The first reason why you should vote for me is because, I feel as if I have the characteristics and qualities to be in a Vice President spot. I am very organized, and I love to motivate people to do better and to get more involved in school. I consider myself very creative and able to come up with wonderful ideas. I can keep track of things very well and I love helping other people. Also, I want to make everyone happy and I want to get everyone involved in school and I want to make people more excited to come to school. I feel like those characteristics would make me capable of being a good Vice President. Another reason why you should vote for me is because I feel like I can take on the role of being in the spot of the Vice President. I have good communication skills and I have good time management. Another thing is, is that I am able to work with people very well and I am very patient. I accept other people's ideas and I will try to make a change of how people feel (if the emotions they feel are negative). I love to make people smile and I like to convince people that there is a good side to things. The last reason why you should vote for is because I want to change how people feel. What I mean by that is, sometimes people feel left out, I want to change that. I want people to get more involved in school and I want to plan things to get people more excited for being at school. I want people to be more motived to help out and make the school and community a better place! In conclusion, you should vote for me for Vice President because I feel as if I have the qualities and characteristics of being a good Vice President, I would be able to take on the role and I want to change how people feel.

Secretary

CANDIDATE FOR ASB SECRETARY 8 What’s up Townsend students! Do you want a secretary who would go above standards to improve our school and make the 2018-2019 school year the best one possible? Well, you’ve found the perfect candidate! As your secretary, I will always ensure students are having the best possible experience here at Townsend. I promise to give students plenty of fun opportunities to be involved at their school and make Townsend a better place in any way I can. I’ll make it my number one job to attend to the concern of any student and ensure that all of our Townsend Rangers thrive this coming year. I have many ideas in mind for us and I can’t wait to apply them if I am selected. My goal of the year would be to increase the communication between the concerns of students and our Student Body to hopefully improve the experience for everyone. As your secretary, I pledge to make Townsend Jr. High a better place for our

students and I am looking forward to doing so. I wi l l make certain that the 2018-2019 school year wi l l undeniably be the best one yet!

Community Commissioner

CANDIDATE FOR ASB COMMUNITY COMMISSIONER 9 Do you want your campus to be clean then vote for me for ASB, community commissioner. I would love to be your leadership community commissioner because I thrive in keeping our world, community, and school clean. A vote for me will be a vote for someone who cares for the world and you. I am a candidate who you can count on to get the job done. I can multi-task and work well in a group. As community commissioner I will be in charge of the recycling program at our school and will take that responsibility to heart. A community commissioner needs to be a leader and set a good example to other students. I believe I have the skills to be a good role model for the current and future Townsend students. I have been in our leadership class this year and feel like I know and understand the duties and responsibilities that I will need to complete as commissioner. If I am selected to be your community commissioner, I will work my hardest to be a great leader and community team member. I have enjoyed my time in leadership this year. We work well together and have a great sense of unity and peace working as a team. I want to keep that spirit alive in leadership as your new community commissioner. I would love to have your vote and support.

Publicity Commissioner

Do you ever miss out on the spirit days? Or do not get a ticket in class? Do you want to win the class pizza party? If you answered yes to any of these questions, than I am the student to fix that for you. I am running for the Publicity Commissioner and will make sure you are always informed. My messages will provide you with all of the important information. The posters will be bright and noticeable, and you will always know the time and day of each event. I pledge that I will come up with fun and new ways to share important information with you. Who knows…maybe I’ll write messages in the sky or chalk the floor. So look, look down, and watch were you step! As your Publicity Commissioner, I will make sure you always know the upcoming events and get your tickets. Who likes missing out on important or fun activities happening at school? No one! And the way the school communicates with the student body is through posters and announcements. I am running for Publicity Commissioner. As Publicity Commissioner, I would ensure that all activities and events are advertised on campus and within the community. Currently, I am involved in the 2017-2018 Leadership class, which has taught me many skills that have prepared me to be a capable and effective commissioner. Creativity is the most outstanding skill that I possess. I have picked up designing, layout, and artistic strategies and tips that I can teach my fellow classmates. As the Publicity Commissioner, I would work to improve the quality of our posters, address the concerns from the student body, and strive to better the communication between our school and the student body. As a student here, I understand that we need to improve the quality of our posters. Many concerns that some of you have told me were that they didn’t know about the event because they didn’t see the poster until afterwards, or that the posters were eligible. As Publicity Commissioner, I would improve the posters by teaching students better tips and strategies on how to make the poster as good as possible. I would also go around making sure that all posters meet requirements, engage people, and are legible and artistically pleasing. Furthermore, I would absolutely work as hard as I can to give the posters the best quality as possible. I would make sure that the event is advertised in the right places, so that no one will miss it. Some students have brought to my attention with problems about the communication of the school. For example, as I said before, the quality of the posters need to be improved. As Publicity Commissioner, I will continue to address some of the specific interests that many of you would like to see improve. Also, I would aim to improve the communication between our school and the student body by announcing it on the intercom and spreading the word. Last, but no least, I would make sure that everyone would see and hear the upcoming event. With my devotion and experience, I believe that I can be an outstanding Publicity Commissioner. I would do my best to improve our posters, address to student interests and concerns, and work to better the communication between our school and the student body. As a leader, I would always be a positive influence on others and keep an optimistic outlook. Seeing students succeed and our school thriving drives my passion as a leader and makes me happy. Spirit Commissioner

CANDIDATE FOR ASB SPIRIT COMMISSIONER 12 As your Spirit Commissioner for the 2018-2019 school year I will take steps to encourage everyone to get involved with school-wide spirit days. One of the ways I plan on doing this is to give you a voice. All students will be given the opportunity to give ideas and vote on Spirit Days for the school year. By allowing you to help decide on the spirit days, it will make them simple and fun. No more going out at the last minutes to shop for spirit days. By allowing you to vote on the spirit days you will simply walk to your closet, pull out something you already own and you are ready to show your school spirit. With your help I also plan on making the weekly lunch games something you will never forget. You will be given the chance to give your opinion on what games will be played. Just like with the Spirit Days you will be given the opportunity to vote on what games will be played throughout the school year. Imagine how cool it would be if your idea came to life in the form of a spirit day or lunch time game. Help me make our 2018-2019 spirit activities something for the record books by electing me as your Spirit Commissioner for the 2018-2019 school years.

CANDIDATE FOR ASB SPIRIT COMMISSIONER 13 Hi there! Hey you! Yes you, I’m talking to YOU! Do you want more fun and exciting spirit games? Spirit days that will make you be on the edge of your seat to try? Well that’s something I can guarantee! Sometimes spirit games can be tedious, but I can bring you games that make you want every day to be Wednesday! I will always make sure that our school spirit stays active and exciting throughout this next school year and doesn’t collapse like some cheap sneakers or Anakin Skywalker. I will also try to make our spirit games and music trendier. For some people, dressing up for spirit days can be embarrassing and/or uncomfortable, like watching Stranger Things through the window of an RV. But I can change that. The key to planning the best spirit games and days is picking themes people are interested in and feel comfortable doing. Therefore, by voting me for Spirit commissioner, I will create spirit days and games that students feel more confident participating in. All in all, if vote me, I will bring you the best of spirit games and spirit days while still staying in your comfort zone!

CANDIDATE FOR ASB SPIRIT COMMISSIONER 14 Why do you want to be spirit commissioner? If you were commissioner what would you do first? How would you increase school spirit? First, I want to be spirit commissioner to be a positive role model and increase school spirit. If I was spirit commissioner I would lead by example to everyone. I would first make fun and cool spirit days to bring out the fun side of everyone. I would also plan creative school activities as a reward to hard working students. Some of the spirit days I would plan would be Mix Match day, where you can wear things that don’t match for a ticket to win the opportunity drawing, or look-alike day, when you can match with anybody and any amount of people. On this day you and your look-alike can go up to any spirit ambassador for a ticket. Some ways I could increase school spirit would be pep rallies that would inform students about the upcoming events to look forward to. This would get everyone excited for these activities. There would be a pep rally in the first week of every trimester. If you choose me to be your 2018-2019 spirit commissioner I will do my best to do all of these things to make the year a one to remember!

Renaissance Commissioner

CANDIDATE FOR ASB RENAISSANCE COMMISSIONER 15 Hello to all of the wonderful 7th grade Townsend Rangers! This year I am going to be running for the office of Renaissance Commissioner. The main duty of a Renaissance Commissioner is to plan, write and execute the script of all of Townsend’s rallies, and promote various academic and extracurricular student achievements throughout the trimester. As your future 2018-2019 Renaissance Commissioner, I will make our rallies fun, exciting, engaging, and the most amazing ones yet. You students are the heart, the center of the rally, and I will represent you in the best way possible by planning the rally carefully to make our students shine! One reason why I think I would excel at being your next Renaissance Commissioner is because I love script-writing with a passion. I find it remarkable that with just an imaginative mind and a computer, you can type up a fascinating play that can inspire the whole school. I will make our rallies engaging by making the themes that everyone are familiar with and loves, such as: Marvel & DC Superheroes, Fairy Tales, Harry Potter, YA Book Series… etc. I think I would be the perfect person to take up the mantle and do just exactly that. In our rallies, the most important message I will greatly emphasize is to encourage more students to be recognized and to make a positive impact on our campus. I have a lot of pride and spirit for Townsend, and I will make my best efforts to inspire our students to feel the same way in the rallies. We all belong to the Townsend Family. If we work together, we can benefit greatly from our rallies and make Townsend a beautiful community where all of us can achieve the level of success we dream of. Teamwork makes the dreamwork! If you vote for me as your future 2018-2019 Renaissance Commissioner, I will uphold my strong commitments to fulfill all of my promises. I won’t just use my position as a title but use it to benefit Townsend students and spread good influences and vibes. CANDIDATE FOR ASB RENAISSANCE COMMISSIONER 16 I would want to be your 2018-2019 Renaissance commissioner because I have always loved to perform and write scripts. As you probably know, the Renaissance commissioner writes the rally scripts and directs the rallies as well. Well why would I want to do this? When I was a lot younger I would put on performances with my parents and siblings. Eventually I started writing short stories for fun and writing them for my friends. This is my school too, so of course I want to be fun as much as you do. No one wants to come to a place where they don't feel comfortable or don't feel like it's going to be a fun day. So, if I were to win your commissioner of renaissance then I would want to be someone you can approach or talk to... and if you have any suggestions for the next rally- feel free to give them to me. I would absolutely want to hear your ideas. The rallies have fun games, dance team, color guard, skits, learning experiences and more. I can do any school appropriate themes you want. Had a dream about a crazy Dr. Seuss rally? Always wanted to do a rally based on a cool new movie? Bring them to me. Also, if I was elected then I would put a rally suggestion box in the office that you can enter your ideas in there. Or you could talk to me directly. One thing that I was planning to do is an Everything Rally where you guys would get a list of all the things that are big right now and would get to vote on 3. You would give them to your 7th period teacher who would give them to the office who would give them to me where I would count the votes and the three most voted on would get a spot in the rally. Sounds like fun, right? Well it can only happen if you vote for me. Those are the reasons that I want you to be your 2018-2019 Renaissance Commissioner. I hope you decide to vote for me. Thank you!
