AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITY PROGRAM from Pre-School to Grade 12

ASA 2018-2019

Trimester I

The International School in Genoa is pleased to offer a wide variety of extra curricular activities providing an opportunity to further exercise your child’s intellectual, artistic and athletic skills in a safe and friendly environment.

ASA PROGRAM The Program offers four different kinds of activities:

1. CULTURAL CLUBS, 2. ARTS & CRAFTS CLUBS, 3. SPORT CLUBS 4. FREE CLUBS (MUN, Yearbook and the School Musical).

TRIMESTER 1 TIMING TRIMESTER 1 will start on Monday September 17Th and will end on Friday December 7th. Activities will run once or twice a week Monday through Friday, from 3:45 pm to 4:45 pm.

REGISTRATION PROCEDURE In order to register your child, please fill out the online form by accessing the ASA page on the school’s website: http://isgenoa.it/academics/after-school-activities/. Registration will take place until Friday September 14th. Students will be considered registered for After School Activities only when registration forms are completed and payments are submitted to our Business Office. Students registering for free activities are still required to complete the registration form. A minimum number of students is necessary for each activity to run. The school will send to parents the list of the running activities by Friday September 14th. The school reserves the right to cancel the activity due to insufficient numbers. If this is the case, students will be invited to attend an alternative activity, use the credit for the next trimester or will be refund.

CALENDARIO DEL PRIMO TRIMESTRE IL PRIMO TRIMESTRE inizierà lunedì 17 Settembre e terminerà venerdì 7 dicembre. Le attività si svolgeranno una volta o due volte alla settimana, dal lunedì al venerdì, dalle ore 15:45 alle ore 16:45.

COME ISCRIVERSI Per iscrivere I vostri figli, vi preghiamo di compilare il modulo on line presente sul sito della scuola: http://isgenoa.it/academics/after-school-activities/. Le iscrizioni saranno aperte fino a venerdì 14 settembre. Gli studenti saranno considerati iscritti solo dopo la compilazione del modulo on line e a seguito del pagamento dell’importo dovuto al Business office. Gli studenti che sono interessati a partecipare alle attività gratuite dovranno comunque compilare il modulo on line. Per l’avvio delle singole attività è richiesto un numero minimo di iscritti. La scuola invierà ai genitori la lista delle attività confermate venerdì 14 settembre. La scuola si riserva il diritto di cancellare le attività qualora non ci sia un sufficiente numero di partecipanti; in tal caso, gli studenti saranno invitati a scegliere un’attività alternativa, o saranno rimborsati.

This is the 2nd year of the sports program. We are working to create more opportunities for our students to participate in tournaments, and our long view goal is to create a league of schools with similar values and philosophies that will allow all our students more sporting opportunities. Each trimester, secondary students will have the opportunity to participate in free sports clubs after school. Volleyball, and Cross Country are offered during the first Trimester starting week commencing 17 September. Additional sports will be Basketball in trimester two and Football in trimester three. Sign up sheets and further information can be found on the PE noticeboard, or by contacting Mr. Adcock ([email protected]).

Please encourage your child to sign up in the Gym by Friday September 14th!

consult, and then develop solutions to world problems.

That means learning the format of the test, and the strategies that will improve students’ scores. Students will closely examine individual questions to better understand what examiners will ask of them, then complete practice papers that will be graded to help them chart their progress in the run-up to the exams.

Teacher: Ms. Sara Camoirano Grades: K - 2 Day: Monday - Wednesday Description: These lessons are going to be a “fairy tale” play that the kids and I are going to make up together, using asana poses. I’ll give them a track and base our practice mainly on animals poses. Simple Instructions on the proper body alignment and basic information on breathing techniques will be given. Every lesson ends with a guided relaxation. Some lessons might include basic practices of guided imaginary meditation.

Teacher: María Elena Cabrerizo del Saz Grades: 1 - 12 Day: Friday Description: It is a pleasant, relaxing and silent activity opened to all ages. The teacher will show, during the first ten minutes of each class, examples of ceramic and porcelain decoration from different eras and cultures, with special attention to Talavera de la Reina models (Toledo, Spain). Next, students will select examples of borders of different shapes and colors, and practice on paper for 20 minutes. During the last half hour, they will apply the knowledge acquired to the direct design on ceramics. (+10 euros per student are required for materials for the entire course)

Individual Lessons

ISG’s music teacher (Silvia Manfredi) is available to offer guidance and further information on all musical lessons.
