WHO WE ARERATIONALE:• Colorectal Cancer (CRC) is the 2nd leading cancer killer in the U.S.
• Higher incidence among Hispanics and rural populations
HISTORY:• ACCION in El Paso, TX est. 2012
• ACCION for Rural West Texas est. 2015• CPRIT & TTUHSC Department of Public Health
MISSION:Lower the CRC morbidity and mortality rates in the nine selected rural counties of West Texas by integrating education and service delivery components, recruitment of participants in their own communities, and strong and varied Community Partnerships.
Research Component:ACCION for Rural West Texas will conduct ‘Focus Groups’ to help further tailor
our services to the rural communities. Recruitment will start August, 2015

WHO WE SERVE
Nine Counties in rural West TexasCrosby, Floyd, Garza, Hale, Hockley, Lamb, Lubbock, Lynn & Terry
Eligibility Requirements:
• Resident of Serviced County• Do not need to show proof of U.S. citizenship
• Age 50 -75
• Uninsured or Underinsured
• No prior CRC diagnosis
• No CRC symptoms (blood in stool)
• Not up-to-date with CRC screening

PROGRAM GOALS• Increase knowledge about CRC and CRC screening
• Increase screening utilization by offering no-cost FIT testing
• Increase uptake of screening colonoscopy in people with strong family history
• Increase uptake of diagnostic colonoscopy in those with a positive FIT test
• Increase the use of treatment services
All these goals facilitate the overall goal of achieving our Mission:
