Background

Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) are a set of exclusive rights protected by law

which are accorded to creators or persons over their creations for a certain time period.

An IP right holder can realize value from its intellectual assets through utilizing it internally

for its own processes or share it externally through provision of goods and services to

customers. The latter can be achieved through legal mechanisms such as licensing or

assignment.

In today’s globally competitive environment, intellectual property has placed itself

on a pedestal in the context of economic growth and is becoming increasingly important.

Objectives

An Art, Commerce and Science College, through Research Committee has

conducted a One Day Workshopon Research Methodology and Intellectual Property Right

(IPR) for the task of creating awareness about Intellectual Property Rights amongst faculty

and post graduate students.

This report summarizes key points from each of the two workshop sessions which focused

on the Intellectual Property Right (IPR) and Research Methodology.

Inaugural function

The workshop was inaugurated by the hands of Hon. Principal Dr. Rajeshji

Chandanpat. Dr. N.D. Gawande (Coordinator, IQAC), Dr. Sahebraoji Bante (Director,

Narayana Naturopathy and Yoga Science College, Amravati) were the chief guests of the

inaugural function. Introductory speech was delivered by Dr. M.J. Pawar (Coordinator,

College Research Committee). It was followed by the speech of Dr. N.D. Gawande and Dr.

Sahebraoji Bante. Words of thanks were presented by Dr. A.K. Maldhure (Member,

College Research Committee).

Session I

The inaugural function was followed by the talk of Adv. Swapnil Gawande on the topic

“Intellectual Property Right (IPR)”. The first session focused primarily on conceptual discussions

and clarifications on IPR and then the need and significance of patent filling and related processes.

It was significant information for the students. About 121 students have attended the session.

Session II

This session was focused on Research Methodology. A beautiful talk on Research

Methodology was delivered by Dr. S.A. Waghuley (Associate Professor, Department of Physics,

The Session

The chief guest Dr. Vinod Kallamwar, took a brief survey of the origin and development of the IPR

and the issues related to it. His session later on was focused on the complex nature of the

Intellectual property and its rights. He also explained in details the various provisions I the law to

protect our intellectual property. He also talked about the pitfalls of neglecting the IPR during the

The session was followed by the question-answer hour in which various questions were asked and

discussion and deliberations were held.
