Pat is recognized as a gifted contemp-orary Southern painter. Her highlyrepresentational works are masterfulexercises of chiaroscuro...the manipulationof light and dark. Pat has honed her talentfrom which her particular “language of art”has emerged. The contrast of light and itsabsence, evocative of Rembrandt’s use ofchiaroscuro, is the defining component ofher style. By means of it, she aims “tocreate mystery and emotion.” Theseelements are the real subjects of her work. The views evoke tales of life in imaginedhomes and times. Her representation of thehuman face is a view to the inner world ofthe subject’s personality; the unarticulatedlife-quest, heroic, tragic, wise, at-risk, on thecusp of accepting inevitable challengesand the resigned contentment of latteryears. Pat was in the Oil Painters ofAmerica and Richeson 75/Still Life show.Awards include Joan Mitchell Foundation; The Andy Warhol Foundation, Visual ArtsContemporary Arts Center, PBS, and VAA.Pat has been featured in Southwest Art,Gallery’s & Artists of the South, DeltaMagazine, American Art Collector and inthe hardback issue of Jack Richeson,International Richeson Still Life 2008.
