worksafterhisteenagegraffitiyears.HewasgreatlyinfluencedbyhisartisticmotherwhotookhimtoNewYorkartmuseumsandbroughthimthebookofGreysAnatomywhenhe

wasinthehospitalafterbeinghitbyacarplayinginthestreet.Therefore,toillustratethetimelineofhislifewithinthebodyofthisdarkchild-esquefiguretodemonstratethatmuch

ofhisartworkwasinfluencedfromthetraumaofhischildhoodandtomaintainthetheme

ofexotichumanfiguresandemphasisontheanatomyofbodypartshemakesthefocusofmanypieces.

FortheactualtimelineIwantedittoshowthathislifewasshortandchaoticandoneevent

felloneaftertheother,ratherthanspreadoutwideacrossahorizontalspanoftime.Alsoforthecontent,Iusedshortfragments,keepingconsistentwiththephasesofhislife.

IusedaspecialfontcalledJemboHandsthatwascreatedanddedicatedspeciallyforJean-

Michel.Ithasarandom,freehanddrawnspiritasJean-Michelusedinmanyofhisworks.

ForthecolorthemeIusedamonochromaticthemeofreds,blackandgrey,becauseIdidnt

wantanycolorstofightortakeawayfromthebrightandcolorfulpiecesfromBasquiat.

Additionally,Ifeltthesecolorsexpressemotionandsomewhatofadarkeremotion,as

mostofBasquiatslifewasspent.

Lastly,IusedthisimageofBasquiatposingforoneofhisexhibits,toshowthathereached

fameforhisworkandthathisliferevolvedaroundhimaloneforthemostpartandhim

surroundedandencompassedbyhisartwork.
