This artifact is a performance task that students completed after my unit on WW1. Its purpose is to be a propaganda poster to influence U.S. citizens to participate in helping the Allies win the war through citizen participation whether joining the army, produces clothing, food, or materials needed for war. It shows the Allies as being Angelic, and the Central Powers as being evil. I chose this artifact because I remember all the effort I put into that particular unit, especially trying to find interesting ways to teach them about how propaganda was used during WW1, and its influences on people. We discussed the techniques used to influence people such as text, color, font, religious signal/symbols. I felt this was the epitome of what propaganda is, and how it influenced U.S. citizens in WW1.
