WHAT DOES ‘HOME’ MEAN TO HIM? “This print is inspired from an earlier poster I designed for a garden party event. tau and upsilon(www.tau-and-upsilon.com)

Who Are they? After years of rushing to meet deadlines in the corporate world, ex-colleagues yeoh Jo-Ann and tilen ti decided to turn their shared love of craft into a more serious endeavour. tau & upsilon was therefore established as a creative outlet for the pair, where they specialise in quirky designs on linocut prints and lampshades.

WhAt Does ‘home’ meAN to them?“the word ‘home’ evokes a cosiness that comes from sharing a space with our families. We also like to include animals in our work – it’s a little twee, but we like the storybook convention of animals that speak, think and act like humans. so, here’s mr Fox at the end of a typical day, going home to dinner with his wife and pups.”

Wanton Doodle(www.wantondoodle.com)

Who is he? At his day job, mas shafreen often creates to-do lists for his staff on Post-it notes. to make his requests less antagonising, he would include doodles on it as well. that’s where it all began, and now his cheery drawings can be seen on everything from customised chairs to corporate merchandise. WhAt Does ‘home’ meAN to him? “home is where we feel most comfortable. While our homes may vary in size and location, they are all on planet earth. that’s why i decided to call this piece ‘Planet home’. As an artist, i hope my works find their way into as many homes as possible. then i can say, ‘home is where my art is!’”

ozzy & Lulu (www.ozzylulu.com)

Who Are they? Fajrina and hazirah rahim are sisters who started designing their own brand of stationery and lifestyle accessories out of an interest in graphic design. their fondness of animals also inspires their chirpy designs, which are often made up of colourful abstract patterns and animal motifs.

WhAt Does ‘home’ meAN to them?“home isn’t a place – it’s a feeling! We love this quote (yes, we’re big balls of cheese) and it has inspired us to create something that would instantly liven up any dull wall or room. We like to think that this print is true to ozzy & Lulu’s design aesthetic – quirky, colourful, and absolutely full of heart.”

mondays off (www.mondays-off.com)

Who is she?A stylist and a graphic designer, Leyna Poh has channelled her knack for putting together eye-catching visuals into a creating art for the home. under the moniker mondays off, Leyna and a silent partner offer original art prints and postcards featuring bold typography.

WhAt Does ‘home’ meAN to her? “A home comprises so many elements and details, so i express it by using geometric shapes that all fit nicely together to form a ‘home’. As i’m a fan of scandinavian interiors, i decided to play around with the muted colours commonly used in Nordic designs.”

John Lim (www.society6.com/seez)

Who is he? John Lim’s love of digital illustrations was ignited while he was studying animation at Nanyang Polytechnic. Now a motion graphics designer, John still hasn’t stopped sketching and designing during his free time. his art is fun and cheeky, and he puts up new work regularly on his online store.

WhAt Does ‘home’ meAN to him? “this piece is a fusion of modern and vintage elements – a contradiction that is at the core of the ‘hipster’ culture. it’s just my humble take on the design-focused lifestyle that many singaporeans today aspire to have!”
