LEGAL RESOURCES

General Washington Lawyers for the Arts Legal Services Washington Lawyers for the Arts’ serves the communities surrounding the performing, literary, media, visual, and interdisciplinary arts. WLA works with local attorneys who provide specialized legal expertise on topics that are not available through the neighborhood legal clinics offered by organizations such as the King County Bar Association or Columbia Legal Services.

Legal Clinic(s) LA sponsors legal clinics where artists and arts professionals are welcome to make 30-minute appointments to meet with attorneys who specialize in arts and entertainment law. They may discuss topics such as copyright or trademark and other intellectual property topics, contract review and non-profit issues.

Legal Workshop(s) LA sponsors workshops approximately once a month. They feature presentations given by member attorneys on a variety of legal subjects and are open to members and non-members alike. A sampling of recent workshops: “Contract Law Fundamentals,” “Rights of Publicity,” “Copyright Law Fundamentals,” “How to Get Paid.” We strongly encourage pre-registration — space is limited, they fill up fast.
