To provide a fun art activity for a small

group of residents in camphill.

To develop the residents awareness

around the different materials that relate

to Autumn.

To develop and encourage the residents

to participate to their best ability in a art

activity.

To improve on my communication skills.

It is residential houses for adults with special needs.

These houses are surrounded by farming and horticulture enterprise, the residents get very involved in all aspects of this community, such as working on the farm, growing vegetables, knitting, cooking etc.

It is a self sufficient community. Everything they grow and rear keeps them going. Very little has to be brought in from the shops.

I phoned Camphill and asked for permission to do this art activity.

I then had to email camphill to ask for permission because they needed written evidence.

I then had to go to --------and get my Garda reference to bring to Camphill with me on the day.

Time and date was confirmed.

I pitched the idea to Camphill, and they approved.

I had to collect a lot of the materials, the

week before I did the activity so they

could dry out and also for me to pierce

holes into the acorns.

For my facilitation I had to do it on a Wednesday afternoon

because as part of their weekly routine they have art on that

day at the same time and they wouldn't like this routine being

disrupted in anyway as it would upset them.

For my facilitation I had 4 residents partaking in my art activity.

My art activity took place in their usual art room.

My art activity had to be related to autumn, so I decided to

make a wind chime out of nature materials that relate to the

season.

At the start the art activity I introduced

myself, and explained to the group what

art activity we were going to do.

This group member really enjoyed

painting, he felt very relaxed.

The rest of the group members were

giving the wool and nature materials

and began.

I had to show the group what to do, to

make it easier to thread the wool

through the holes.

Time restraints was a problem, the

facilitation was only for an hour and there

class is always 1hour long so extra time was

not allowed as the residents do not like

change.

Some of the residents worked at a slower

pace then others.

Tying the knots was a struggle but it didn’t

annoy any of the residents as I was there to

help them anytime they struggled.

I was pleased the activity was a success,

the group thoroughly enjoyed

themselves.

The residents were very fond of using art

and crafts.

I feel like my confidence has improved

from having to stand up in front of the

class and teach an activity on my own.

I think a bigger group of individuals

would have had more fun together.

From doing my facilitation, I need to be

aware that some people work at a

slower pace then others so when I have

another art facilitation, I should allow for

extra time.
