Art Deco Bracelet Design
To turn this into a bracelet, keep repeating the pattern until you have a length that will fit
around your wrist, allowing room for a clasp. You will be working in even count Peyote. I
have assumed you already know the basic technique, but if that is not the case, you can use
this free tutorial to learn: https://www.myworldofbeads.com/learn-even-count-peyote/
Add your chosen clasp and enjoy wearing!
This will look best, and most even, if you use cylinder beads. (So, you can use size 11/0
Miyuki Delicas, or size 11/0 TOHO AIKOs). However, it will also work perfectly well with
ordinary seed beads. Just try to use good quality beads that are evenly sized.
I invite you to choose your own colouring. Although, I have given you some colour options at
the end of the project.
Materials per pattern repeat
Chart #:A – 288 beads
Chart #:B – 32 beads
Chart #:C – 88 beads
Chart #:D – 200 beads
Chart #:E – 176 beads
Made with 11/0 delicas, a single pattern repeat measures about 1 7/8” (4.5cm). If you are
using size 11 seed beads, then the measurements are 2 3/8” (6cm). So, you will need to work
out the number of pattern repeats you require, and multiply that by the bead quantity in each
colour. If you need to know how many beads per gram of your chosen bead/brand, check out
this blog post: https://www.myworldofbeads.com/how-many-beads-in-a-gram/
Remember, when you come to repeat the pattern, you will be beading rows 1 and 2 separately
(not as the single strip that starts). So, each row will contain 14 A beads.

The word chart starts at the top right and works down. If you are following the pattern chart,
you may prefer to start bottom left and work up. The (L) and (R) indicate the direction

Clasp options
There are plenty of ways in which you can add a clasp to this type of bracelet. You also have
plenty of clasps from which to choose.
I used two variations. For one, I used a slide clasp, which I attached by creating a ‘seam’ with
my beads. To do this, you will need to make the main bracelet about ½” 1.5cm shorter than
you require to fit around the wrist. That will leave space for the clasp.
I used a 7-loop (41mm) slide clasp. Note: the bracelet in the photos is another design, but the
technique remains the same.
Step 1: I attached the clasp and created a little beaded casing to hide the attachment. So,
start on one end and bead 6 more rows of Peyote, using your (B) beads. Anchor the loops on
the clasp to the back side of the bracelet. Try to
make sure the edge of the bracelet is butted up to
the slide part of the clasp.
Step 2: You then need to make the beaded casing.
So, weave through to exit from the edge of the final
row of your original bracelet. Stitch a new row of
beads, attaching this to the first row you added in
step 1 (the first row of (B) beads). You can see this
part in the photo.
Step 3: Continue to add four more rows of Peyote
to your new row, so you create a little ‘flap’. Fold
the flap over and attach the ends of these rows to
the ends of the rows in your original bracelet. You
can also attach the final row of your bracelet to the
final row of your flap, by weaving through the clasp
and ‘zipping’ from one row to the other. Note: the
beads will not zip together properly because the
clasp will be in the way. However, this should
create a neat finish encasing the loops, as shown.
Step 4: Repeat steps 1-3 to attach the other half of the clasp to the other end of the bracelet.
Note: I find it easiest to close the clasp to do this – this will ensure that you get the correct
clasp placement.

Clasp Option 2
For the other option, I covered two 10mm wooden beads, attached these to one end of the
bracelet, like buttons. Then added loops to the other end of the bracelet to hook over my
beaded beads.
You can make your basic bracelet to fit your wrist exactly, then place the beaded beads and
the loops a few rows in from the end of the bracelet, so that they will fasten and allow your
bracelet to fit precisely.
You will need to calculate where to place these, and how many beads in your loops, to ensure
a good fit. So, be prepared for a little trial and error!
This is the technique I used for making my beaded beads.
You are going to use your (B) beads and work in Peyote stitch to make a covering for your
10mm wooden bead. You will be working in circular Peyote. Your covering is made in two
halves, and joined around the wooden bead.
Row 1: Pick up 5(B) and pass through them all
again to form a circle. You should leave a tail
thread that is just long enough to stitch in at the
end. I recommend you knot your working and tail
threads to hold the circle secure.
Row 2: Add 1(B) between each of the beads in
your circle and step up at the end of the row (total
5(B) beads).
Row 3: Add 2(B) between each of the beads in
your previous row and step up. (total 10(B) beads).

Row 4: Add 1(B) between each of the beads in
your previous row and step up at the end. (total
10(B) beads). Yellow beads in diagram.
Row 5: Repeat row 4. Green beads in diagram.
Row 6: In this row, you are going to add 1(B) in the
first stitch, 2(B) in the second stitch. Then repeat
that sequence four more times to complete the
row. Step up at the end of the row. (total 15(B)
beads).
Row 7: In this row, you are going to add 1(B) in
every stitch. So, each time you reach a pair of
beads you will pass through BOTH beads.
Remember the step up at the end of the row. (total
10(B) beads).
Row 8: You are going to repeat the technique from
row 6. So, you will add 2(B) in the first stitch, 1(B)
in the second stitch, and repeat this sequence four
more times to complete the row. This time, step up
through BOTH the first 2(B). (total 15(B) beads).
Your pairs of beads in this row should sit on top of
the pairs of beads from row 6.
Art Deco Bracelet Design © Katie Dean 2020, www.beadflowers.co.uk
8
Row 9: Repeat row 7. So, you will add 1(B) in
every stitch, passing through BOTH beads
whenever you reach a pair from your previous row.
This completes the first half of your cover, so finish
your thread securely.
The Second Half: Repeat rows 1-8 from the first
half. Now, place your wooden bead in the middle
of the two halves, and zip them together. You will
need to line them up so that the pairs of beads on
the two halves are in alignment.
You can then stitch your beaded bead onto your bracelet. I picked up a couple of seed beads
to sit between the wooden bead and the bracelet, to give the ‘button’ a ‘shank’ that will keep
the loop in place when the bracelet is fastened.
