ART 321 News Newsletter December 2016
Happy Holidays to Everyone,
It’s hard to believe that the year is at an end and what a year we have had! We’ve weathered a great tragedy in
losing Carol Plummer and happily launched Holly Turner into her much-deserved retirement. We’ve had the
best year ever in the gift shop and exhibitions and seen over 11,000 visitors come through our door. This
warrants a huge Thank You to our members, our dedicated volunteers and our community support. All of you
have helped make this place into a thriving part of the arts in Casper and in our region.
Both our Postcard and Pint Sized Art Show and our Holiday Bazaar were a huge success. The Postcard party was so fun and we sold every
one of the postcards that were so generously donated by all of our members and supporters. There was some GREAT art that found new
homes. Our Events Committee deserves a BIG thank you. Our Holiday Bazaar was well attended for the first three days of December so
we’ll do it again next year. The vendors were happy and lots of holiday shopping went on.
Like every other organization at the end of the year, you should be receiving your annual giving letter from us in the mail. Please consider
us as you make your decisions on your tax-deductible gifts. We can’t do this without you and your generous support. Our need is still great
to keep all of this running and the vision moving forward. Please help if you can.
Some upcoming events deserve a mention:
Justin Hayward will be teaching “The Portrait in Pen, Pastel and Charcoal” Saturday, January 7th from 9am to 4pm. Fee is $65 for
members.
Lisa Shanor will be teaching “Beginning Needle Felting”, Saturday February 4th, 10am to 3pm. Fee is $65 for members.
Lynn Jones will be teaching “Beginning Colored Pencil”, Saturday February 18th, 10am till 1pm. Fee is $30 for members.
“Anything Goes” is our group exhibit for January. Deadline for submission is Saturday, December 24th at NOON! We’ll be closed after
that till the new year, so no late works can be accepted. Please register your work online as it saves our staff typing everything
twice. Go to our website, under Exhibits and then under Anything Goes. You’ll find the form there and it is very easy to fill out.
Our featured artist in January is Rachael Hawkins with her distinctive jewelry. There will be an artist’s reception on Thursday,
January 5th at the usual Art Walk time, 5-8pm.
The gift shop changes over during the week we are closed from Christmas to New Years. If you want your art in the next round, you
need to sign up now. The gift shop crew will call and tell you when to deliver your work and pick up your work from the last
round. This changeover will be displayed from January till the end of April.
We’re throwing an all Member & Friends Party on Friday, February 17th! S’More Art, S’More Food, S’More Fun.
Look for your crunchy invitation in the mail and save the date!
We’d like to wish all of you a wonderful holiday and hope you get some great art in your stocking!
