STEM WEEK @ ARPS Next week our staff and students are celebrating STEM WEEK to promote the many benefits of learning in areas of Science, Tech-nology, Engineering and Maths. This is a change from our tradi-tional ‘Literacy and Numeracy Week’ to enable our STEM focus and investigations about technological and science advances over the years, such as the celebration of 50 years since the Moon Landing in 1969. To help students ‘broaden their horizons’, every student will have the opportunity to take part in the Virtual Reality Space incursion during this special week. Of course, all of our important events, such as our Book Character Parade and our Spelling Bee will also take place during the week. Parents are very welcome to come to the Book Character Parade and Spelling Bee on Tuesday morning.

Year 5/6s Camping Out! Our excited group year 5 and 6 students and enthusiastic staff headed off to Kangaroobie on Tuesday for a wonderful 4 day camp. The students are enjoying the beautiful coastal views as well as opportunities to at-tempt many of the challenging activities the camp provides. For parents connected on our schoolDojo, reg-ular updates have been provided with photos to help share the experiences with family and staff back ‘at home’. I am sure the group will have some exciting stories to tell on their return.
Musical News With just 3 weeks to go until the big day, there is plenty of action and hard work occurring to make sure this
year’s musical is a great success. Our main cast of students in year 5 and 6 have been spending
lunchtimes and every opportunity to rehearse their lines, and students in all year levels have been prac-
tising their songs and dances in preparation.
Hampers It has been wonderful to see the fabulous response from families in supplying items for our raffle hampers.
The Parents’ Association will be collecting all items to create some great hampers for our raffle as part of
the fundraising for our Musical. Items may be dropped into the office at any time. Thank you.
Rehearsals Information about our rehearsal day for the whole school at Rowville Secondary College (4th September) is
now on the Compass portal.
Props and Costumes We are very grateful for the parents who have jumped in to support staff with sewing and sourcing of
costumes for students in all year levels. For parents of all students, information about the basic costume
requirements and when to send them in to school has been provided in notices over the last few weeks.
Costumes supplied from home need to be at school with a name label by Fri 23rd August.

Bunnings Sunday BBQ 25th
Our second Bunnings BBQ for the year will be occurring on Sunday 25th September. We are looking for
volunteers to help out on the day. Any time parents can give to help support this fundraiser will be very
much appreciated. Please contact the office to confirm your availability.
Lunchtime Clubs Every Tuesday a group of students has the opportunity to take part in our lunchtime Art Club with Mrs Con-nie Vartiainen. The sessions are offered to students in all year levels and allow any children eager to ex-tend their art skills, or just have an enjoyable social experience. We also have our ‘Lunch Bunch’- a games and social skills group that is run by Ms Katrina Karlson, our Student Wellbeing Officer and Ms Narelle Seremetis, an Education Support staff member. This group is also available to students from all year levels and allows students to enjoy games and conversations to support social skills development.
Enrolments for 2020 Our class structure for 2020 is now being finalised. Any parents yet to enrol their Foundation child for next year are encouraged to do so now, it help support the planning processes for next year. Parents can check if they are inside our school zone via this link:
