Under 10 - Friday (Dans)Coach: Dan CalvertTaylors Lakes 91 def Keilor 88Against a local rival the boys were keen to get back on the winners list particularly on our home turf. Ned G was excited to be captain however he lost the toss and the Lakers decided to have a bowl in very windy conditions.

After 2 overs with Ned and Jonathon doing well we swapped ends and decided to bowl with the breeze. This helped boost the scoring for a while however the bowling got a bit tighter and scoring was hard to come by for everyone. Dihan and Marcus tried to up the run rate and Ben hit the 1st big six for the year.

It was time to bowl and we knew we had to take some wickets to win. Charles bowled nice and tight, and the Neds and Odin kept the pressure on. Pavi chipped in with a couple of wickets and we thought we were closing in on victory. Marcus was great behind the stumps but we needed him to bowl and he didn't let us down with a great over. The last few overs were a bit if scramble and we unfortunately went down by a few runs.

Special Mentions - Marcus - great keeping, Ben -Big Six, Ned Mc - Top Fielding effort

Good luck to the boys heading to Grant McConville’s team next week !

Under 10 - Friday (BJ)Coach/Report: BJKeilor 4/95 def St Bernard’s 6/80Ashleigh was named captain and winning the toss we elected to bowl first…

A full house of 10 players, against a team of 7 from St Bernard’s….the game was under way…

Some terrific bowling from all players, Riley was thrown the new ball, as taking the last 2 wickets with his spell the previous week he was on a hat trick delivery…well the anticipation grew as he came in around the wicket with a great delivery, only just missing the stumps to achieve the magical hat trick, funny enough the very next ball he struck with success….(always happens on the next delivery)

Job well done Riley, we took steady wickets, enter Charlie Callahan, first ball in under 10 cricket, takes a wicket – clean bowled with a beautiful delivery, full, fast & straight… (well done Charlie)

Our fielding was very good, all players listening & rotation thru the field like a well-oiled machine, some late hitting from a couple of the top age boys, from St Bernard’s finished on 6/80

Our tern to bat & the kids were up & about, some really good batting from our top order put us well on top early, some below average bowling in the middle session, really frustrated our batsmen, plenty of wides & no balls it was getting a little frustrating to watch at times.

Our kids kept their cool & played each ball as it comes and eventually making enough runs to get us over the line, some great running with Angelina & Ashleigh in the last couple of overs assured us a win without losing wickets…

Special mentions….

Charlie first wicket in cricket, Lucas great bowling, Jonah & Sam awesome in the field..

Under 12 Boys – Friday BlueCoach/Report: Greg CarbisKeilor Blue 74 def by Strathmore Heights 90We had our first loss for the year, we lost the toss and where sent into bat, one thing the boys do is really value there wicket which is really good but they need to also score more runs of the bat. We only lost the 3 wickets in scoring 74 with the opposition giving us 33 extras. The hightlight of our innings was Billy D's cover drive for four of the last ball. Our turn to bowl and in horrendous conditions the boys for the first time this season really battled to control the ball even our better bowlers struggled. Strathmore Heights had a really good side so it'so it shows we are a good side as well as they didn't beat us by much, the boys just need to get more confident in there own game. A few are struggling to convert to under12's which i'm sure won't take long. Two good catches by Thomas and some good fielding. Also boys need to stay in the positions they are put and not go wandering.

Under 13 Girls – Saturday Coach/Report: Lou AcevskiKeilor 6/164 def Truganina Brown 6/113There are moments in time that we all remember where we were. In years to come we will talk about this monumental day with reverence.

After a couple of promising games against the boys teams. Saturday the 3rd of November is the day that the Keilor Girls Cricket team totally destroyed their first all boys opposition. Like all other boys teams before them, Truganina Brown came to Keilor not realizing that they were playing against girls. But they sure as hell will never forget playing against them after the weekend.

Truganina won the toss and went in to bat. And that’s where there joy ended. From the onset our girls were switched on and applying pressure. Alyssa and Chelsea bowled a tight spell and the pressure was on. Indu and Mia were like gazelles in the field stopping the ball and firing it back to the keeper thwarting any attempts of quick runs by Truganina. Then Lereece the destroyer entered the fray. The boys thought they may have seen out our quick and sure as hell weren’t expecting another fast bowler of the caliber of Lereece. Lereece steamed in and cleaned up two of the boys. Sarah also chimed in with another valuable wicket and we had the boys 3 down for not many.

The girls were on and boys started panicking Not taking the runs they should. Hesitating due to the pressure that was being applied. The boys were trying to dig themselves out of the hole by playing cautiously and believing that eventually the girls would crack. But not today.....Great fielding efforts to save boundaries by Mia, Chelsea, Lereece and Alyssa all helped to keep the scoring at bat. We needed another wicket and in stepped Lereece again. Claiming her third wicket for the day and breaking the boys hearts. Alyssa then added another clean bowled to the tally and the boys nightmares continued. Sarah also came on and claimed he second wicket and by this stage the boys were left limping to 6/113 off 25 overs......A respectable total...But would it be good enough.......We were yet to know.......

Olivia and Sarah opened our innings. Olivia exploded with a boundary in her first over but that was tempered with the dismissal of Sarah. The boys got their wicket but we still had plenty of batting in the shed. The next few overs were beautiful to watch. Olivia “Sachin Tendulkar” Panaia was playing the innings of the year so far. Smashing the boys all over the park. All the while supported by Indu at the other end pushing through singles and keeping the score moving. They pushed the score well past 70 when they both retired not out. Olivia in the high 30’s and Indu 22no......We were on our way....... would this be their first win.......Ruby and Katherine went in. We lost Ruby almost immediately along with Chelsea. At 3/82 we were still in the box seat but starting to shake. Alyssa joined Katherine and if we were ever going to win it. One of these two needed to make a score. Even though we had lost two quick wickets, these two still kept the pressure on the boys. And when they both hit consecutive boundaries I knew it was only a matter of when. They both then put the boys to the sword. With Katherine playing a beautiful cover drive for 4 runs to pass the Truganina total..........That was it......We had surpassed their total with still 6 overs to play. Now it was time to have fun....Both Katherine and Alyssa retired. Their jobs were done.......

Under 13 Girls – Saturday Coach/Report: Lou AcevskiKeilor 6/164 def Truganina Brown 6/113… Lereece and Mia came in for some quick cameos before we were back where it all started.........Olivia........

If the boys thought they had seen the back of her.....They were wrong.......Like a bad dream she reappeared as a night mare and started where she had left off. In her first over back she hit a beautiful off drive. And they repeated the dose twice in the next over. Were we about to see the first ever 50 scores by a girl at the Keilor Cricket club?......My word we were.....Olivia had reached 47 and we all waited with bated breath. Then came the glorious straight drive that pushed her to 51. Olivia went on to make 63. The highest total ever by a Keilor Girl........For now......I’m absolutely certain this group of superstars will be breaking all sorts of records in the weeks and years to come........

An Extremely Proud Coach.....

• Olivia 63 Lereece 3/11

• Indu 22no Sarah 2/13

• Alyssa 18no and 1/21

Under 14 Boys - FridayCoach/Report: Luke DelbridgeKeilor 110 def by Greenvale 111Our first match of the real season was against a very strong Greenvale Kangaroos team. Having to bat first we started really well not losing a wicket in the first 7 overs with Lachlan and Alastair keeping out some good new ball bowling. Through the middle period of the innings we lost a couple of wickets while still maintaining a solid run rate of around 6 an over. Towards the end of our innings a few more wickets halted our run rate along with some good death bowling.

Defending 110 for victory we got of to the perfect start with josh bowling a excellent Yorker second ball to dismiss the opener. After that things got tough as there two best bats went on the attack with boundary after boundary. Being a little lacklustre in our fielding didn’t help giving them easy singles. Unfortunately Greenvale chased the score with 5 overs to go. It was a tough effort with only 9 players but the boys put up a really good fight against a strong team.

Under 14 Boys - Saturday Coach/Report: BJKeilor 10/59 def by Oak Park 9/211Lucas was our captain for the day, winning the toss we elected to bat on an unknown outfield & wicket. The wicket was extremely bouncy from one end & making batting uncomfortable with our top order batsmen…

Josh played the pace beautifully with 2 rep bowlers taking the new ball anything short was dealt with to the boundary (bloody big boundaries too) until getting a top edge early….unfortunately that was our day, some poor running between the wickets and some even worse cricket shots. we were in trouble, we were dismissed for just 59 runs against a really good bowling attack. A great effort from Mitchell P, who hung tough thru the innings.

Congratulations to the Oak Park bowler, taking a hat trick & 4 wickets in an over really destroyed us….it was always going to be tough to defend just 59.

Well we turned the bowling upside down, opening with spin and tried slowing the game down, a chance to take a couple of early wickets was hopeful…unfortunately some hard hitting slogging from there top order they had chased down the runs inside 9 overs,

With Oak Park wanting to end the game and several of their kids not bowling or batting, we continued on to bowl out our 30 overs. There top 4-5 players all retired and this sent there bottom 5-6 players in, well within minutes we had struck, taking wickets with ease, our boys continued to plug away and full credit to them managed to take 9 wickets in total after our 30 overs….even taking the openers who had retired earlier in the day ……they lost 9 wickets for less than 60 runs inside the last 15 overs.

A bold & gallant effort to finish off what was a tough day on the field……

Special mentions…..

Henry great line & length bowling at the death, AJ & Noah some great outfield catching, James D great stumping…..

Grading has finished and we find ourselves in Under 14B Grade – Saturday

Under 16 Boys - FridayCoach: Albert Panaia / Report: Craig MatherKeilor 6/120 def Aberfeldie 8/119Wow! Who says cricket is a boring game? This one went right down to the wire. In fact we won on the very last ball of the innings against our old rivals in Aberfeldie. We bowled first at A.J Davis reserve which is quite a skinny pitch so the boys had to be very accurate. We started well getting rid of their captain and opener with the score on 4. Wickets steadily fell after that and at one stage they were 5/61 but we had trouble getting the wicket of one of their better batters in Ben Thompson who went onto to make 43 before being brilliantly caught by Tyson Rutley in the deep. We only managed to drop one catch which was quite pleasing but the sun can be blamed for that one.

With a chase of 119 on the cards we were quite confident we could do it as we had shown with our batting line up that we are capable of large scores. In a different combination Ben Mather opened with Tyson Rutley and immediately we were off and running with Ben scoring a boundary off the first ball. The runs weren’t coming quite as easily as that from then on as Tyson found himself tied down and Ben had trouble putting the leg side deliveries away. As a result Tyson was stumped with the score on 23 and then Ben followed suit in the same manner with the score on 42. Nethum then came out and continued his great form scoring a quickfire 33 off 30 balls. Farzan Chowna, Cam Thorley and Jarrod McSwain came and went quite cheaply. Noah Panaiawas still in and batting beautifully hitting the bad balls away and rotating the strike with Jakob Marazita. It all came down to needing 6 runs off the last over to win. They put on a spinner to bowl it which is always quite risky for the fielding team. Noah was able to hit 2 runs off the first ball which relieved the pressure a bit but then came a couple of dot balls, followed by another 2 and a single which then tied the game.

It came down to the very last to take the win. It was bowled down legside which should have been called a wide anyway. Jakob swings and misses. The ball lands in the keeper’s gloves with Noah already halfway down the pitch. The keeper for some strange reason didn’t take the bails off to run Noah out but instead threw it down the other end to run Jakob out. Jakob had absolutely no right to make it home. He was gone for all money but the throw was just a little wide which made the bowler stretch for it. There must have been only millimetres in it as the ball hit the stumps. The Aberfeldie boys all went up as one with the appeal. All of us parents waited with baited breath as the umpire yelled “Not out!”. We couldn’t believe it. We had won when the match should have been tied. Needless to say the Abers boys and coach weren’t happy with the decision but that’s cricket. Sometimes the decisions go your way and sometimes they don’t. It goes to show that in limited over cricket every run is vital.

Under 16 Boys - SaturdayCoach/Report: Jeff ReevesKeilor 1/155 def Haig Fawkner 9/120A great win by the boys against Haig Fawkner. Cameron was away so Captain Jacob took the reigns and did a great job. Panda lost the toss and they elected to bat. They got away to a flyer and we did very well to peg them back.

9 for 120 was a great result on a quick ground and a pitch that is always easy to score on.

Cameron and Heath opened the batting and both batted extremely well. Cameron played some great drives before getting out. Heath and Nathan very then able to bat us home and both made 50’s.

A great game to finish off the grading games, well done boys.

Special Mentions:

Nathan Hayes 50no

Heath Bevridge 50no
