Hydraulic cable cutters

Hydraulic safety life line cable cutterused for working under voltage acc. to VDE 0105, part 100.

Consisting of:• Hydraulic shear with high pressure hose of 10 m, with leak-free coupling system and earth harness acc. to EN 50340

• Double piston pump mounted on foot-pedal, with foot-operated switch

• Transport case

• Fully operational and filled with special oil

According to VDE 0105 Part 1 Para. 9.6.4 the cable cutter 216416 is used for cutting low and medium voltage cables up to 60 KV AC. It has been tested by the Professional Association of Precision Mechanics and Electro-Technology based on-testing GS ET-23 and has been awarded the GS-seal of approval. If a live wire is cut by accident, the operator is not in any danger. The 10 m long high pressure hydraulic hose, which connects the pump to the cutting head, guarantees the highest standard of safety due to it special insulating features. The cutting process is controlled by watching the manometer attached to the pump, since, in general, the cutting head con not be seen when a cable is cut. This process has been tested repeatedly at medium voltage, with live wires and continuing main supply. The cutting range goes up to 90 mm. The 12 mm cutting blades are made of high yield point steel and are polished, thus wear- and tear- resistant, A strongly dimensioned guidance of the blades guarantees a high degree of mechanical stability. Even in the event of a short circuit, a safe cutting of the wires is guaranteed, since the individual blades overlap by approx. 20 mm. The blades open themselves when pressure is reduced. The high pressure hose bursts at 2700 bar. The pressure relief safety system of the pump has been adjusted at a 625 bar level.

INFOWire stripper

Stripping is the removal the insulation on an electrical cable (wire). The following stripping pliers are used to do this:

Manually adjustable stripping pliersAre set by hand to the stripping diameter by eye. The risk of damaging the cable is thus very high.

Automatic or self-adjusting stripping pliersFor fast and precise cutting and stripping. These tools automatically adjust to the required cable cross-section or insulation thickness. Thus it is not possible to damage the cable or the insulation.A lengthwise stop makes serial insulation easier.

Micro-precision stripping toolsThese are used when fi ne wires are to be stripped. Data technology, network technology, controller construction, telecommunications, electronics, model construction.

Stripping tools for special insulation typesTefl on insulations are a rubber-like insulation type which make removing the insulation of an electrical cable more diffi cult. In such tough situations we recommend stripping tools that cut the insulation sleeve.

Advantages• Constant safe stripping results• Fault free processing• Precision in every cut• Serial stripping is made easier by lengthwise stop• Automatic stripping pliers = 3 in 1 = cut + remove sleeve + strip

Automatic wire stripperErgonomically designed, automatic wire stripper with a specially developed sensing system making adjustment to the individual cable cross-section unnecessary. The sensing system means that that it is absolutely impossible to damage wires, conductors or outer insulation. The stripper is suitable for single- and multi-wire cables and fi ne-wire cables from 0.2 to 6 mm². The slender form of the stripper head is ideal for use in areas which are diffi cult to access. One of the most striking characteristics of these stripper is the fact that very little force is needed to operate them. The stripper blades adapt automatically to different cable cross-sections and therefore ensure that individual strands and wires are not damaged.A further feature is the integrated diagonal cutters with the wire up to max. 2.5 mm² (Cu and Al conductors.) The variable length stop from 6 to 18 mm makes work easier in longer processing runs. The coloured soft plastic zone in the handle offers non-slip grip and makes the work fatigue-free.TÜV / GS tested stripping tool.

INFOCrimping pliers for end sleeves

When crimping end sleeves a distinction is made between sleeves with and without plastic collars and between trapezoid and square crimping.

The sleeves with a plastic collar make it easier to insert individual stranded wires. The coloured marking on the wire end sleeves is used to classify the cross section.

Pliers with a square crimp ensure better contact in the terminal strip. The square crimp also facilitates alignment and assembly, as clamps can be attached to each of the surfaces.

Crimping pliers for insulated crimp cable lugs

INFOCrimping pliers for insulated crimp cable lugs

Insulated cable lugs and crimp cable lugs are crimped in an oval form. The coloured marking of the wire cross section to the insulated cable lug is defined in DIN 46245, Parts 1, 2 and 3.

Red => stands for 0.5 to 1 mm² Blue => stands for >1.5 to 2.5 mm² Yellow => stands for >2.5 to 6 mm²

As the cable lug is rolled from a metal sheet, attention should be paid to the position of the butted edge. It should be in the middle of the top profile. If it is on the side, the edge opens up and the wire is not gastight or adequately clamped.

INFOCrimping pliers for uninsulated open brass cable lugs

We distinguish between wire crimps and insulation crimps. The end of the wire should0not project into the wire crimp, however it must also not lie just half beneath the insulation crimp. Only in this way can a standard-compliant crimp be ensured. In a good crimp the wire must be deformed. In this case one talks of a “gastight crimp”.To ensure precise crimping of open plug-in connections, locators can be attached to the pliers.

Wrong:The end of the insulation isin the insulation crimp.Wrong:The stripped wire projectsinto the contact zone.

Correct:The end of the insulation andthe stripped wire are crimpedaccurately. To facilitate accuratecrimping a positioning aid isavailable for crimping pliers.

D–Sub plugs are open plug-in connectors that are connected with the wire via a rolling crimp. D-Sub plugs are used in modern offi ce and communication technology.

Rolled contacts are open plug-in connectors that are connected with the wire via a rolling crimp. It is important to choose the correct plug for the cross section of the wire. No single wire may project from the crimp.

Twisted contacts are used to connect computer interfaces, power and control wires in multi-pole plug-in connections and fl exible assembly lines in the automotive industry.

INFOPhotovoltaik

Photovoltaics is the direct conversion of light energy into electrical energy by means of solar cells. This method has been in use as an energy supplier in the majority of space vehicles since 1958. Since then it has been implemented on Earth as a method of power generation and is used, among other things, on roof surfaces, for ticket machines, in pocket calculators, on sound damping walls and on open spaces. The photovoltaic energy conversion is carried out with the assistance of solar cells that are connected in order to form solar modules in photovoltaic plants. The generated electricity can be stored on site in accumulators or fed into the power network. If the energy is fed into the public power network then the direct current generated by the solar cells with be converted by a converter into alternating current. In order to constantly make energy available, the energy must be stored.

Electric crimper

HAUPA electric crimperThe Electric crimper is an ideal device to securely crimp wires and cable terminals such as:

• insulated cable lugs to 6 mm²/10 AWG

• Tubular cable lugs, solderl. terminals to 10 mm²/8 AWG

• Flat tab terminals to 6 mm²/10 AWG

• Wire end sleeves to 50 mm²/1 AWG

The Electric Crimper can be operated in one of two modes:Mode 1: controls the entire crimp process by pressing down the pedal switch.Mode 2: allows the user to fi x the terminal on the cable by actuating the foot switch once. To fi nish the crimping process, he presses down the foot switch once again. Mode 2 is used for more complex terminals. The onset of compression force can be adjusted for each new terminal to satisfy crimp integrity. That way, damage to dies and terminals can be minimised.Simply press a button to select the opening for each die. Since some female terminals are more diffi cult to crimp, a moveable locator can be utilised to ensure proper crimping. Various standard dies are available, as well as dies designed to customer specifi cations.Technical Data Art. INFOMechanical crimping pliers for tubular cable lugs

Mechanical crimping tool characterised by its compact design. It is possible to make crimps even in confined working conditions, where conventional large tools cannot be used. The mature construction of the drive has proven its reliability many times over in practice. In this manual crimping tool very little wear can be seen even after many years of use, this is decisive for the reliable repetition of the required crimping depth. After all, today’s highly stressed crimped connections only comply with safety regulations when the required electrical and mechanical values are achieved over long periods.Another safety aspect is that the crimping tool can only be detached from the crimped lug when the required crimping depth has been reached. By turning the wheel on the handle in an anti-clockwise direction the crimping inset can be set in position on the lug. Only then does the actual crimping process begin with the one-hand lever. The quality of the crimped connection is dependent on the choice of cable lug, the crimp inset and the correct choice of cable cross section.

INFOMechanical crimping pliers for tubular cable lugs

These mechanical manual crimping pliers are modern, high performance tools. They can be used anywhere in the wide range of solder-free connection technology thanks to a comprehensive range of crimping dies. Crimping stroke and pressure (to approx. 5.5 t) are created by several hand lever movements. The manual force required is low due to the high efficiency of the system. The press and the connecting parts can only be separated from one another when the crimp is complete. This drive system ensures that the required crimping depth is always achieved. The hinged cover guarantees comfortable handling of the press, even in awkward-to-reach positions such as in control cabinets.By turning the fast forward feed lever to place the crimp inset on the cable lug, the number of manual lever movements is considerably reduced and rational work is guaranteed.Only then does the actual crimping process begin with the hand lever. When the required crimping depth has been reached the press releases pressure spontaneously and the hinged cover can be opened to remove the connector. The crimping process can be interrupted if an error has been made in the choice of the inset, cable lug or cable. To do this swing the hand lever completely out, depress the ratchet and turn the forward feed lever backwards.

INFOMechanical crimping pliers for tubular cable lugs

In this hand press the crimping stroke is produced by a number of hand lever movements. The transport ratchet starts the eccentric wheel moving and con-rods convert the eccentric turning motion into a straight-line stroke of the guide that runs in grooves. The bottom crimping inset is placed in the guide. It sits on an adjustment plate that is screwed on to the guide. This plate compensates for all the tolerances resulting from the manufacturing process or wear and tear.By turning the wheel on the handle in an anti-clockwise direction the crimping inset can be transported directly to the installation on the connecting part. Only then does the actual crimping process begin with the hand lever. When the required crimping depth has been reached the press releases the pressure spontaneously and the hinged cover can be opened to remove the connector. The crimping process can be interrupted if an error has been made in the classification of the inset, cable lug or cable. To do this swing the hand lever completely out, depress the ratchet and turn the forward feed lever backwards. The quality of the crimped connection is dependent on the choice of cable lug, the crimp inset and the correct choice of cable cross section.

INFOMechanical crimping pliers for tubular cable lugs

This mechanical hand press is a modern high performance tool. Its eccentric drive has been tried and tested in extreme temperatures and in day-to-day use. When handled properly this tool is very low maintenance.Crimps can also be made in larger cable cross sections without much effort on the part of the user, because the outer notches of the eccentric drive only move one notch at a time through the hand lever movement. In other words, the required pressure is also created from a specific number of individual strokes. The device is characterised by its manageability although it reaches the enormous pressure of 100 kN.The press and the connecting parts can only be separated from one another when the crimp is complete. This drive system ensures that the required crimping depth is always achieved. Thus the reliability of crimped connections that is demanded today more than ever before is guaranteed.
