The evening starts at 6 for 6:30pm and the theme is “Wise or Foolish” with inspiration from Ephesians 5:15 “Watch carefully then how you live, not as foolish persons but as wise.” This year we are delighted to have the General Manager of Generate Ministries, Mr James Flavin, as our guest speaker. Generate supports school ministry in 400 Government schools across NSW. This is James’ first real ‘churchy’ job - his background is in Corporate Treasury & Superannuation. He is an advanced-level scuba diver, an adequate amateur historian and an atrocious golfer. His detractors have called him “the most aggressive parachurch leader in NSW”, “NSW’s leading child evangelist” and “Barbra Streisand”. (continued inside...) What Makes SRE Special?Special Religious Education equips students to make informed life choices. In Christian SRE students will see a Christian response to many of life’s big questions, such as; What will I do with my life? Where will I spend eternity? Who can I trust? How will I treat other people and the world I live in? Why isn’t the world perfect? As students explore the pages of the Bible they are able to see who God is and his lifesaving action for the world.

In Term 1 students in Years 7 and 8 are exploring how ‘the Bible is so much more than a book of morals, a history of an ancient people, or a collection of writings. The Bible is the epic love story of how God does not give up on a world that hates him. It is the story of God pursuing us, even though we are his enemies, and loving us so much that he gave his one and only Son to die in our place.’*

Please Pray...

• For the team of volunteers leading discussion groups at SRE seminars on Friday mornings; Robert Baker, Maria Craven, Josiah Elsley, Graham Knuckey, Kurt Langmead, Merrilyn Pearson

• For the bunch of Year 7 students attending ISCF

• For Amy Gow, maths teacher at Duval High School, who assists leading ISCF

• For families to make the most of the opportunity available in SRE

• For more students to meet together to read the Bible at Support Pod, the new senior ISCF group at Armidale High School

• For growing rapport with Year 7 students

To establish, maintain and grow Christian witness and education in Armidale’s State High Schools.

For students in Years 9 and 10, ‘as we explore the Bible, we not only need to discover where we are in the Bible story (biblical theology), we also need to discover the type of genre being used. This will help us interpret God’s word with clarity and understanding.’*
