History and Organization Created by Act 610 of 1923, the Arkansas State Podiatry Examining Board regulates the practice of podiatry in the State. Act 966 of 1997 amended Arkansas Code §17-96-202 and changed the name to Arkansas Board of Podiatric Medicine. The Arkansas Board of Podiatric Medicine, authorized by A.C.A. §17-96-101 et seq., licenses and regulates the practice of podiatry in the State. The Board is composed of five Governor appointed members who serve three year terms. The Board is funded from cash funds from license and examination fees, fines and penalties used for operating expenses. The Board has the power, after a hearing pursuant to the Administrative Procedures Act, to revoke the certificate and cancel the registration of any person who is found guilty of violating the rules and regulations of the Board. Agency Commentary The Arkansas Board of Podiatric Medicine is responsible for issuing licenses, renewing existing licenses, and regulating the practice of podiatry in the State. Funding for this appropriation is from special revenues derived by the collection of application and license renewal fees. The Arkansas Board of Podiatric Medicine is not seeking any changes to the Base Level. The Board believes it is currently operating on a minimal budget and expects to be able to maintain expenses for the next Biennial period.
