Dear Daughters,

The holiday season is upon us and as we decorate the house, get

the cards addressed and mailed, shop for just the perfect gifts

and scramble to get everything done, let us not forget the beauty

of the season and our many blessings. As we gather our families

around us, let us keep in mind those who are less fortunate than

we. Remember all of the men and women serving our country.

Especially, our service men and women, who are away from family

and friends, serving in far away lands.

We are looking forward to the excitement of visiting with you, at

the many official visits scheduled for 2011. State Conference will

be held at the Doubletree, Reid Park, Tucson on May 19 through

21, 2011, so be sure and circle you calendars!

Daughters, don‘t forget to check the ASDAR Members only web-

site, as your VIS Team has put together a fantastic site. The state

chairman each have a page and if not all most of the information

you need regarding chairmanships is available and just a click

way. Also, don‘t forget to go out to the DAR Members only website

as it is updated regularly and has myriad of information.

Thank you for your love and support during my surgery and conva-

lescence. With much time to reflect during the last six weeks, I

realize how blessed I am to be a part of our beloved society.

In closing below is a prayer from George Washington‘s personal

prayer book:

“O kind Father, continue Thy mercy and favor to me this day and ever hereafter. Preserve and defend our rulers in Church and State.

Bless the people of this land. Be a father to the fatherless.

A comforter to the comfortless. A deliverer to the captives and a physician to the sick.

Let Thy blessings be upon our friends, kindred and families. Amen”

Page 2: Arizona Star

It was wonderful to see so many of you at the ASDAR Caldron of Freedom. We tried some new things and received a lot of

positive feedback. If you would still like to give comments about that meeting, please email me at [email protected]

Attendance at the workshops was great. They were very informative. Members can learn so much by attending the state

events. They are a time for learning and sharing. Check the ASDAR members‘ website for the dates of upcoming meetings

and plan to attend! All members are welcome ~ so plan to attend. You will make new friends, too.

The state committee chairmen did a terrific job with their posters.

Have a wonderful Christmas and Holiday Season.

T‘was the day of the Arizona Star Article deadline.

All seemed to have been done and to have gone fine,

But after the holidays, more deadlines come.

Let‘s focus on some.

At the end of January, chapter chaplain‘s EMQ reports should be turned in.

Keep a copy for the count of next year‘s good works to begin.

If you haven‘t turned in your 85 -85 year old + birthday list,

Send them so birthday greetings will not be missed.

The holidays quickly approach.

Highlight the ―holy days‖ that we commemorate

Rather than who‘s done least and who‘s done most.

There‘s Pearl Harbor Day and the resulting sacrifices of a great generation.

There‘s the anniversary of the death of the first president of our nation.

There‘s the Hanukkah ; a holy festival of light.

There‘s the birth of a Savior on Christmas night.

While gathering with family and friends,

Let‘s reflect on the concerns and miracles that have

occurred as this year ends.

Thank God for life, wisdom, wealth, and health

And resolve next year to be better reflections of God;

our very best self.

It was good to see everyone at Cauldrons of Freedom, and meeting new Daughters, while catching up with long-time mem-

bers. As you work on the Master Questionnaire, it is a good time to make note of items you want to include in your report at

State Conference. As you do so, please review the format for your written report. It may be found on the ASDAR member‘s

website. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

Wishing everyone a Happy Holiday Season and New Year.

The computer of the State Corresponding secretary has been busy, busy, busy. In the absence of our State Regent after her

recent surgery, many daughters were on pins and needles for information on Stephanie‘s condition and her progress as she

recovered at home. Much of the State‘s business was transacted in three way email conversations between the Regent and

Vice Regent during the month of November. I can report that all went well and we are thankful to have Stephanie back in the

action after her speedy, but continuing recovery.

Multiple requests have come to this office for messages to be sent or reminders to be relayed from various committees. In

an effort to not inundate the Chapters with multiple messages to remember this and forward that…..it was decided to refer to

our member‘s website to get answers on specific committee deadlines, criteria and mailing information. We are fortunate to

have an excellent resource like that literally right at our fingertips! Please remember to check there if possible as so much

information is readily available.

As we ―RING‖ in another year, I look forward to serving you all as your State Corresponding Secretary, I am grateful to not

have to sort out and send out 39 Chapter Master Questionnaires and look forward to seeing and working with many of you in

2011!

WHEW!! Dues are submitted.

This officer would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the chapter treasurers for their patience and hard work through-

out the dues collection process. By the time you read this article, chapters will have submitted their Chapter Achievement

Award Contributions, as well. This officer is busy posting all of those payments received.

Once all payments are posted, an Excel formatted report will be generated for each chapter and sent to chapter treasurers.

This report will outline all funds received by this officer since June 1, 2010. It is this officer‘s hope that the report wi ll be a

helpful, informative tool for chapter treasurers.

It is time to slow down and enjoy the holidays. May the blessings of this Christmas Season find you surrounded by family and

friends!

Happy Holidays!

First, I want to wish everyone the best for the holidays and a Great New Year. May all the chapters have a gain in member-

ship.

I enjoyed meeting and talking to many of the ladies at the Fall Forum. I feel the membership workshop was a great success.

If you have any questions that were not answered please contact anyone from the Chapter Development and Revitalization

Commission.

The President General Merry Ann Wright gave these exciting facts in one of her latest blogs. There have been 3,617 online

Record Copy sales since October 2 – as opposed to 230 copies requested by mail/fax and 236 requests by walk-ins. That is

a total of 4,083 for the two month period compared to 2,351 for the same period last year-a 74% increase from one year to

the next. We all hope this will result in many new member applications being submitted.

ASDAR has 79 applications pending with 45 of these having been verified. There are 552 prospective members on the pro-

spective list. I hope all of these ladies have been contacted and are actively working on their applications.

One of the questions I have received is how do you list 3 marriages for the applicant. The new PDF application has 3 places

for marriages. If you are using the older form, the third marriage can be listed after the last generation. Leave a blank gener-

ation in between and mark this as generation 1-3rd marriage. A ny questions or problems, just ask.

At Continental Congress this year, the Historian General spoke about the need for funds to support the Americana Room in

the DAR Museum. The Americana Room is the DAR designated place for rare historical documents. For example, it con-

tains original signatures of most of the signers of the Declaration of Independence and many other exciting items of im-

portant historical interest. When rare documents are offered at various historical auctions, the DAR competes with many

other museum and private collectors for these rare items. Thus, in order to win the bid, we must have ready cash. There is

no time to have a fund raiser.

For this reason, I have chosen as my Historian project the Americana Room. I ask each Chapter to budget$100 for the

Americana Room. Remember this can be listed on the Chapter Achievement Award Form.

Thank you ladies for your support of this important endeavor. I am very excited that we have this opportunity to preserve

history-oriented items and materials that would be housed in the Americana Room forever. This should give each of us a

feeling of accomplishment.

Your Librarian wishes to thank all of the ASDAR Chapters who have donated books or periodicals to the National DAR

Library. Arizona is looking good! Cactus Wren Chapter holds the crown for donating 38 books or materials. I know you

will all continue to be active in this department.

At Fall Forum this Librarian announced the kickoff of the Great Show-off Contest. I have been impressed with the en-

trants that have been received up to present. April 15th is the deadline; winners to be announced at the State Confer-

ence in Tucson.

If your Chapter has not decided which holiday or historical event to enter, please remember we are entering the season

of many historical holidays or events. After placing your displays in a bank window, school, library etc., take a 8 by 10

colored photo and send it to: R.J. Doria, 19003 North 134th Drive, Sun City West, AZ. 85375. Make a clear marking of

your exhibit on the back, so the outside judges will not know which Chapter they are judging. I look forward to receiving

more of your inspirational photographs. This, indeed, provides a window to the community and educates our public on

what a great organization is the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Americanism—Marion James

This chairman attended the October workshop in two capacities, as Chapter Treasurer and State Chairman. However,

the latter takes precedent at this time. In checking the DAR Handbook - pages 246 and 247, an explanation is given

in regards to the awards which were mentioned at the meeting. I urge each Chapter Regent to refer to this infor-

mation and discuss it with your members. These chapters indicate the criteria for awarding the DAR Medal of Honor

and the DAR Americanism Medal. It would be a great accomplishment if our state of Arizona could come forth with

winners in these categories. Also, a part of the Americanism project is the welcoming of new citizens at the Naturali-

zation Ceremonies conducted each week, I would be interested to hear from the chapters who are participating in this

manner. I am here to work with you in all of the above goals.

DAR Project Patriot - Marilou Fellman

What a joy to be part of an organization that is so appreciative, giving, and focused on our active men and woman soldiers,

here and overseas. At the ASDAR ―Caldron of Freedom‖ Fall Forum October 2010, this committee collected 252 T-shirts and

shipped them for the Wounded Soldiers at Regional Medical Center in Landstuhl, Germany. A special thanks to all the Chap-

ters for collecting so many beautiful T-shirts, all the helpers at the registration desk who received T-shirts, those who helped

box for mailing, and the monetary support for postage to have made this all possible.

Women serving in the military. Doesn‘t that statement make you proud of the women protecting our freedom. Chapters can

send or continue to send boxes of much needed items for women to Camp Victory. Check out and print the ‗Deployed Wom-

en In Military Service Requested Items List‘ on the National or our own Arizona member‘s only website.

Chapters, who can, are encouraged to make monetary donations to the DAR Project Patriot Committee. Those donations will

continue to provide phone cards, flip flops, and new jackets to our military personnel. Check the National member‘s only

website, under Committees, Project Patriot for more information on this.

Some of the Chapters have already adopted Overseas Bases to receive manufacturer coupons from your magazines and the

Sunday newspaper to be used to assist military families. At the state level we encourage all chapters to adopt a military base

and join the Overseas Coupon Program (OCP). Information on this program and the military bases needing support can be

found on the website at http://www.ehow.com/how_5102603_use-grocery-coupons-expired.html

This committee was honored to display our Project Poster at the ASDAR Fall Forum. It was wonderful to see Chapter Officers

so interested and looking for ideals and projects to take back to their chapters.

Tucson International Airport and Tucson Veterans Affair Committee will host the ‗Military Exodus‘ on Friday, December 17 th

and Saturday, December 18, 2010, beginning at 3:30 AM. They are looking for volunteers to hand out goodies snack bags to

troops as they arrive in the airport from Ft. Huachuca to board flights home for the holidays. The returning flights dates are

Sunday, January 2 and Monday, January 3, 2011. Please contact Tucson Veterans Affair Committee Chairman Dan Ross at

520-730-6069 or email [email protected] to sign up and represent your chapter, by volunteering your time greeting our

military personnel.

As we approach the winter holidays, and you see a soldier at the airport or shopping with their family, stop and say ―We ap-

The current focus of the Genealogy Preservation Committee is still the Descendants Project. We have entered, certified

and uploaded to the GRS over 900,000 applications and supplemental applications.

We should be finished with the current project in early spring and then move on to another project. Nationally, there are

about 500 members that have been working on the project. It's not too late to volunteer and join us in completing this

project and earn the pin for this committee. My email is: [email protected]

Memorial Cemetery Ladies - Ingrid Baillie

Thanks to the display opportunity at the Fall Forum in October, a number of women showed interest in the service per-

formed by the Memorial Cemetery Ladies in Arizona. The time has come to consider service at local cemeteries, as has

been carried out in the Yuma area.

We have ladies and gentlemen attending veterans‘ services at the National Cemetery in Phoenix, the Southern Arizona

Veterans‘ Cemetery in Sierra Vista, the two city cemeteries in Yuma, and the veterans‘ cemetery in Prescott. A memorial

cemetery volunteers group has been formed in Tucson, with the Tucson Chapter ladies in contact with funeral homes in

the Tucson area.

Veterans are passing away at an accelerated rate, and many times no relatives or friends are present at their interments. It

is very important that someone be there to pay them their last tribute as they are interred, and we are the ones to do it.

Volunteers are needed in several areas of the state. The contacts for the cemetery in Phoenix are sisters (non-DAR) Rose-

mary Ware, 602-295-4807, and Helen Shain, 480-837-9015. Rosemary said they have 19 volunteers at present, and

would like at least 12 more. Due to the number of services each day at the cemetery, more than one volunteer is needed

on some days. Those of you who formerly attended interments would be welcome to rejoin the group, or bring in friends. In

Yuma, Lois LeMay, 928-782-3015, is a contact for service at those cemeteries. They attend services at the local cemeter-

ies.

Volunteers are also needed for interment services at the Prescott National Cemetery. Jean Petrie, 928-778-6511, is the

coordinator of the Prescott National Memorial Ladies. Kathy Machmer, Regent of Yavapai Chapter, said they have 18 vol-

unteers at the moment, and need many more. Yavapai and General George Crook ladies attend services there. The South-

ern Arizona Memorial Cemetery volunteers are plentiful, at the moment, and have some potential volunteers waiting to be

trained. The contact there is Ingrid Baillie, 520-459-3718.

Volunteers do not have to be DAR members, but can be women from the community (and could be potential DAR), and

gentlemen. All the men who serve in Sierra Vista are veterans, and make great cemetery volunteers. It is preferable that

the new volunteers be trained by DAR coordinators to keep things uniform.

Consider becoming a cemetery volunteer; call Ingrid Baillie at 520-459-3718 or e-mail me at: [email protected], if you are

interested. Too many veterans are being interred with no recognition for their service to our country. I would be most willing

to talk to your chapters or groups about this wonderful, fulfilling service.

Junior Membership - Kristen Bisanz

It is wonderful to be able to share the numerous things Juniors are doing in Arizona DAR. The Arizona Juniors have been very

busy and there are lots of great things to show for it.

The Arizona Juniors were well represented at Fall Forum. There were 11 Pages that did an excellent job helping run every-

thing behind the scenes. Thanks to Nora Moss for leading the Pages and helping make the weekend run smoothly. The Jun-

iors also had a social gathering on Friday night during Fall Forum. Wonderful food was shared and lots of laughs were had!

The State Regent also attended the social and enjoyed some casual time with the Juniors. Keep checking the Arizona Jun-

ior's Facebook page for information on the next Junior activity.

The Junior Sales table was also a huge success at Fall Forum! Many sales were made and over $300 was contributed to the

Helen Pouch Memorial Fund from the weekend profits. Thank you to everyone who supported the Juniors and bought items

from the sales table. There will also be a sales table at State Conference in May so come prepared to shop!

Thank you to the Arizona chapters that selected a Chapter Outstanding Junior in October. This is a big honor for these deserv-

ing ladies to receive. Remember to encourage your chapter Juniors year-round to participate and be an active part of DAR.

As the holidays are approaching, consider giving a gift that will benefit the Arizona Juniors. If you contribute $100 or more to

the National Junior Membership Fund, you will be eligible to purchase the ―Friends of Junior Membership‖ pin. You can also

make a contribution in honor or memory of someone. This would be a great gift for mothers to give daughters, who are Junior

members of DAR. Happy Holidays!

National Defense - Lezlee Alexander

Greetings, friends! Many thanks to all who stopped by the Committee Room at Fall Fo-

rum! It was a great pleasure to meet you.

I‘d like to send a special thank you to our Chapter Regents for answering a plea for in-

formation made just before Fall Forum! I heard from roughly 1/3 of you by e-mail and at

the Fall BOM meeting. In an endeavor to update State Committee information for three

of our committees interacting with our schools, you came through in spades! National

Defense, American History, and DAR Good Citizens Committees thank you. The infor-

mation gathered is being updated, collated, and distributed to each Committee Chair-

man to help us know which schools your chapter supports – and any edits you wish to

make in your programs. Many thanks for your assistance with this!

I‘d like to send a personal and HUGE thank you to Ms. Mary Wolf, my State Committee

predecessor, for doing an amazing job in leadership turn-over! She has been absolutely

divine in bringing me up to speed to assist with this Committee, connecting me with

JROTC program leaders, and assisting our school update project. She provided me with

an invaluable wealth of information at Fall Forum that I can now combine with what has

been received by our Regents to be sure we‘re all on the same page and current. Many

thanks for the open door, miss!

I‘m certain all of you Level 1 Chapter Achievers have been doing a National Defense

Minute at every Chapter meeting to get those twenty points! Also, don‘t forget your

Committee donation section. You‘ll be well on your way to achieving Level 1 with just

those two things! For additional project ideas, check the ASDAR Members Committee

President General‘s Project — Katie Paulsen

All chapter members are encouraged to participate in the President General‘s Project, which is Preserve the Past, Enhance

the Present and Invest in the Future. This committee is working closely with the newly established Special Projects Grants

Committee to fund grants to be used to support projects in local communities that promote historic preservation, educa-

tion, and patriotism. This committee continues to work on our National Headquarters. It is only through our donations to

the President General‘s Project that the work can continue.

Each member‘s contributions are greatly appreciated. These contributions are voluntary; however, this type of contribution

is extremely vital to the success of the project. Each member is asked to contribute $6 in the three year Wright administra-

tion. The per-member contribution may be paid in a lump sum of $6.00 per member, or it may be paid at $2.00 per mem-

ber for each year of the President General‘s term of office. The membership number to be used by chapters in determining

the per member contribution is based on the official membership count as of January 1, 2011, regardless of changes in

membership following that date for the next 3 years.

Do not forget to shop for the President General's Project at the DAR Store. These DAR Store items pictured here are now in

stock in our Arizona store. Email Katie Paulsen @ [email protected] to inquire about these items, while they are in

This committee chairman attended the training workshop sponsored by the Camelback chapter. It was attended by many

women and was an informative and interesting event. I am sure many ladies went home prepared to assist perspective

members in their preparation of applications to join DAR. Each one of these events helps the chapters grow in strength and

number. Elizabeth Chain and Beverly Hayes-Hartnett were the presenters. It was an outstanding program.

Regents please encourage your chapters to spread the word about the many activities to be found in this wonderful organi-

zation. For every interest there is an activity to serve the community. Remember there are so many women waiting to learn

about our beloved organization. We must assist them to become members. State-wide there are many trained and knowl-

edgeable genealogists waiting to assist in the preparation of applications and research. This is the time to finish up those

applications and get them submitted.

I wish each of you a very blessed Holiday filled with food, fun and family. Please pray for our troops as they defend our free-

doms which we enjoy.

The aim of this committee is to encourage patriotism and respect for our flag. All chapters are encouraged to have a

Flag of the United States of America Committee Chairman and foster these objectives: involve youth in flag programs;

hold flag events such as disposal or presentation of flags; distribute copies of the DAR Flag Code leaflet or other flag

literature; become familiar with the Flag Code and encourage correct displays in your community; and many other flag

related activities.

Let us continue reminding all of the importance of our flag and the respect it deserves.

In October, I hope you checked your SMOKE ALARMS . It is a sound you can live with. If you did not this is a good time to

check now. This is the season when most house fires occur. Here's a few facts for the month of December as follows:

Peak season for home fires caused by candles

Roughly 2 out 5 fires start in the kitchen by unattended cooking.

Dried Christmas trees and over loaded lights start many home fires.

Here are a few Fire Safety Hints for the Holidays;

Choose decorations that are flame resistant or flame retardant.

Use lights that have the label of an independent testing laboratory. Outdoor light-outdoors Indoor light-indoor.

Replace any string of lights that are worn or broken.

Connect no more than 3 strands of light together.

Use clips not nail or staples.

Make sure your living tree has water daily.

Don't leave your holiday lights on over night.

Blow out all candles before bed. Do not forget about a gift that keeps giving, CPR. Call about learning CPR/First Aid or giving it as a gift to a loved one.

Live it. Give it. Donor Network of Arizona registration forms are still available. Let me know, if you would like me to come to

your chapter and speak about Organ Donation.

Arizona Daughters Genealogy Workshop

On Saturday, November 20th, the Camelback Chapter hosted a genealogy

workshop for all interested Arizona Daughters. The event was extremely

enjoyable and informative! Desert Mission United Methodist Church in

North Scottsdale graciously offered us their kitchen to prepare refresh-

ments and their sanctuary for a beautiful space that could hold all 49 at-

tendees from all over the state!

Attendees were greeted and signed in at a registration table by Camelback

chapter honorary regent, Jane Suddarth and a Hallie Orme Thomas Chap-

ter C.A.R. representive, Saragrace Palumbo (daughter of Camelback mem-

bership chairperson Tara Ferguson), before putting their names in a draw-

ing for door prizes. The atmosphere was light and cheerful with many hap-

py reunions of daughters from wide-spread chapters and many new intro-

ductions taking place.

The workshop was taught by Arizona State Membership Chairperson, Eliza-

beth Chain and Cactus Wren chapter regent, Beverly Hayes-Hartnett, who

thoroughly, skillfully and humorously guided participants through the pro-

cess of researching ancestry, preparing papers and submitting them to

national. Many participants had interesting stories and information to

share about genealogy research and solving tricky mysteries. It was so interesting, that many participants expressed interest

in a follow-up group research day at the Family Genealogy Library in Mesa.

Another important aspect discussed was the importance of having various members of a chapter interested and able to as-

sist prospective members by ―buddying-up,‖ giving prospective members a feeling of connection to the chapter, and supply-

ing another layer of support for the membership committee, which will ultimately make prospective members feel welcomed

and help a chapter to grow.

The workshop was a great success and Camelback chapter membership chair and co-chair Tara Ferguson and Alex Cooper

would like to extend a heart-felt and appreciative word of thanks to everyone who supported the event by either bringing re-

freshments, providing flowers, helping to set-up and clean up, and for driving from their sometimes far away homes to at-

tend. Thank you.

Units Overseas Chapters

How many of our Daughters know there are 24 Chapters in 12 countries? We are very proud of our Units Overseas and the

Daughters who live abroad and keep the mission of DAR alive: to promote historic preservation, education and patriotism.

Yes, this can be done across the world. These ladies reside in Australia, Canada, Japan, Austria, France, Mexico, Bahamas,

Germany, Spain, Bermuda, Italy and the UK. Surely, you can find a chapter in one of these countries where you have herit-

age, have lived or traveled or just have a dream of going to visit there one day.

You can become an associate member for a very nominal fee. Since many of these chapters are small, your associate mem-

bership dues help to support their programs. Chapters here in Arizona can have a sister chapter abroad. Give it some

thought when you are making plans for what your Chapter projects will be this year.

Anthem - Octotillo Chapter

Who Doesn't Love a Parade?

The Ocotillo Daughters at Anthem, certainly do. Our Chapter turned out in force for

the November 9th Veteran‘s Day Parade. We showed our true colors as we waved

our American Flags and emphasized our patriotism by wearing red, white, and blue.

Our WWII Burma Jeep pulled a small trailer containing a tableau showing "Betsy

Ross and Friends" sewing the first American flag.

From our high vantage point, we could see the people along the parade route re-

move their hats and place their hands over their hearts as the flag passed by. It

was a moment of great beauty to see so many who love our country and respect the

flag.

Immediately after the parade, we met and sat up an information booth in the park. A

shade tent had been reserved for us, so we were well prepared to sit and chat with

perspective members. We had quite a few interested people stopping by. Extra

chairs were available, so they were invited to sit and tell us about their families.

This is always an offer that is hard to refuse, so we were able to answer many gene-

alogy questions and hand out a lot of literature.

At the end of the afternoon, this Officer went home covered with grime and glory, regretting only that she had not purchased

a nice glob of pink cotton candy.

Apache Junction - Apache Trails Chapter

Apache Trail Chapter has been busy this fall. The chapter wel-

comed 33 members back on September 11 at our first meeting.

We participated in a historical presentation at the four elemen-

tary schools in Apache Junction during Constitution Week. In-

structors appreciated our coming, as educational trips have

been restricted.

In September members participated in the funeral service for a

beloved DAR member, Marie Smith.

Four members participated in the Fall Forum, with Sandi Wilson

and Jean McLane displaying their exhibit boards as State Chair-

men.

We have installed 5 new members into our chapter this fall. At

the November meeting, Paulette Karas of Saguaro Chapter pre-

sented an interesting program about the origins of candy. Mem-

bers displayed their Indian Jewelry or decorative items in recog-

nition of Native American month. We participated in the Veter-

ans Day parade in Apache Junction.

The two days following the parade the chapter sponsored a garage/estate sale. It was a very successful fundraiser for our

chapter, and a great time to become acquainted and involve newer chapter members. State Regent, Stephanie Troth‘s pro-

ject was begun at our chapter with a delivery of pies to the Apache Junction‘s four fire stations on November 23.

Members have purchased 18 wreaths from ―Wreaths Across America‖. Twenty seven wreaths will be placed at the National

Cemetery at Cave Creek on December 11 with our purchases. Members will donate personal care items for the 100 ditty

bags sewn this fall, in a ―Holiday for the Homeless‖ at our December meeting. We are looking forward to a successful 2011

for our chapter and the DAR!

Casa Grande - Casa Grande Valley Chapter

Casa Grande Valley Chapter members were very busy during

the 2010 Constitution week with presentations and activities.

Proclamations were made by the Mayor of Casa Grande, Pinal

County Supervisors, Casa Grande Elementary Schools and

Casa Grande Union High Schools for Constitution Week. Two

teams of our members visited 98 classes if 4th and 5th grade

classrooms located in Coolidge, Maricopa, Casa Grande, and

St. Anthony‘s Elementary School. Around 1200 Constitution

booklets were given to students; 244 booklets were given to 5th

graders in Toltec, Stanfield, and Mary C. O‘Brien Schools.

There were 519 booklets given to area middle and high school

students. In addition, 1333300 bookmarks with the Preamble

to the Constitution to the 4th grade classrooms, while 1300

bookmarks were presented to first graders to learn the Pledge of Allegiance. Chapter members gathered at City hall to par-

ticipate in Bells Across the Country program on Friday, September 17. The Boys and Girls Club participated.

Chandler - Cactus Wren Chapter

The Cactus Wren Chapter in Chandler has been very busy this fall. In September, we sponsored Constitution Day at Kyrene

de las Briasas Elementary School. American flags were given to 775 students, songs were sung for the constitution and

flags, the Preamble was recited and a big "Liberty Bell" was rung for the 13 Original Colonies. This was our second year and

we plan on doing it again next year.

In November we joined the Charles Trumbel Hayden Chapter in the Tempe Parade to honor our Veterans. Two decorated golf

carts from the Cactus Wren Chapter were driven by Beverly Hayes-Hartnett and Georgia Hier and Doodles was driven by

Dawn Hines. We all plan to be in the Chandler Parade of Lights on December 4, also.

Gilbert - Governor George W.P. Hunt Chapter

Fall has been a busy season for the Governor George W. P. Hunt Chap-

ter. The September meeting began at a new location, and featured a

very informative presentation on the First Amendment by one of our

own members, author Janet Ruth. A few days later, the chapter repre-

sented DAR at Gilbert‘s Constitution Fair, believed to be the largest

such celebration in the country. Visitors to the chapter‘s booth learned

about DAR and enjoyed perusing the patriot books to find their own

Revolutionary War ancestors. In addition, brochures and copies of the

American Spirit magazine were distributed, and the evening was a

great way to gain exposure for the chapter and DAR.

On October 9th members celebrated the 20th anniversary of the

founding of the chapter with a luncheon at the historic Monti‘s La Casa

Vieja in Tempe. Marilyn Flowers, Doris Hussey and Fran Williams,

three of the original organizing members shared their memories of the

early years and Historian Maura Mackowski summarized the chapter‘s

activities throughout the years.

The Mesa Veteran‘s Day parade once again included daughters from

the Gov. Hunt chapter, with members waving flags as they rode on an elaborately decorated trailer. Helen Bernhard over-

saw all the details which included junior ROTC students carrying the chapter‘s DAR banner and flags. New banners explain-

ing the purpose of DAR were attached to both sides of the float, which also helped raise awareness of the society.

Members have continued to knit caps to send to soldiers serving in Afghanistan and Iraq, including a shipment of almost

200 in October. In addition, grocery coupons worth over $12,000 have been collected and mailed to bases overseas to help

military families reduce their costs of shopping at their

commissaries.

Flagstaff - Coconino Chapter

The Coconino Chapter would like to take this opportunity to thank the Arizona DAR for the generous donation of $1,000 for

the restoration and preservation of the Washington Elm Tree that is planted on the campus of Northern Arizona University.

We will be presenting the check to Brad Blake, the botanist that we have been working with at NAU on Friday, December 3,

2010. This check will help in paying for the arborist which has already treated the tree for the scale rot, and can now start

the pruning process as soon as the weather allows. We are also still working with Brad propagating Margaret McCormick

Rose bushes that we have sold in the past and will have more for sale at the Spring Conference in Tucson. We will see you

Glendale — Anasazi Chapter

Greetings from Glendale! Anasazi Chapter is pleased to report that the

Fall Season has arrived with the wind at our back and the bounty of a thriv-

ing chapter all around us. In September we celebrated Constitution Week

as a chapter with a program given by our own Jane Foster, and welcomed

a special guest and SW Division Winner Veteran Volunteer, Eddie Mac-

Intyre. In the community our members Darlene Corson and Lezlee Alexan-

der made 625 Constitution Day kits for students grades K-6 and assisted

the schools staff with Proclamation signings and bell ringing.

In October Donna Biggers, member and Outstanding State American Histo-

ry Teacher, presented a program on her attendance at the Williamsburg

Teacher Institute and Land of Lincoln National Endowment for the Humani-

ties Teacher Workshops this past summer. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity for Donna and our chapter has benefit-

ed greatly. It was followed by a celebration of DAR‘s 120th Birthday complete with cake!

November was marked with members attending a flag raising ceremony and participation in the Veteran‘s Day Parade regis-

tration. Our meeting program was provided by Veronica Meyer and Captain Malina Botkin-Dubbs, representing the Arizona

National Guard‘s Joint Counter Narco-Terrorism Task Force‘s Drug Demand Reduction Program. The contribution their

group makes to our community and schools is remarkable.

Anasazi Chapter will be celebrating our 20th Anniversary in December with a tea party and walk down memory lane. We

look forward to this special event and to continuing the work of our beloved organization in the coming year.

Green Valley - Madera Chapter

Members will be gathering for our December 17 meeting after our summer recess. That doesn‘t mean that we haven‘t been

busy. We had a display at the Green Valley Library for Constitution Week. Chaplain, Amy Storer, attended the Veteran‘s Day

ceremony at the Green Valley Cemetery, where she placed a wreath at a grave. Registrar, Jean Sinchak, has been in touch

with our prospective members. We will have our DAR Insignia Community Sign added to the Community service organiza-

tions sign on the Nogales Highway just as you enter Green Valley from the North.

Our January 21 chapter meeting will have a special program by Betsy Jones on the new facilities and changes at the Tucson

Veterans Center. February 25, we are honored to have our ASDAR Regent, Stephanie Troth make her official visit. March

25, Karol Childs will present ―Heirloom Treasurers,‖ and our April 22 meeting is our annual meeting when we recognize the

outstanding JRROTC cadets from the Nogales Arizona High School and the Sahuarita High School. If you are in Green Valley

during any of these dates, please plan to attend our meeting. We would be happy to have you join us.

The chapter photo will be taken at our December 17 chapter meeting for the ―AZ DAR in the 21st Century….the First Decade

2000-2010” book co-chaired by Chapter Regent Baty and past ASDAR Regent, Jo Beaver Andress. We are receiving dona-

tions for our Tucson School for the Blind and Deaf book project. The school librarian provides us with a wish list that we

choose from for their library. This is a very worthwhile educational project.

May you all have a Blessed Christmas Holiday and a Happy New Year.

lution, Colorado River Chapter joined our members to ride in the Veterans Day Parade on November 6th. Some of the partici-

pants are pictured having a fun time and thanking our Veterans for their service.

The ―Send Christmas to Our Troops‖ Project has become an annual event for our chapter. On November 17th, several mem-

bers of the chapter packed and sent seventy-eight (78) boxes of goodies and necessities to our troops in Afghanistan and

Iraq. All goods were either donated or purchased with donated funds. Pictured with some of the packages are (L-R): Lucille

Sunde, Peggy Hamm, Toni Hupp, Robin Nicely, Jayne Seieroe, Marianne Huffer and Louise Miller. We were pleased and sur-

prised to be joined by Sgt. Jason Millin, a Kingman resident serving with the National Guard in Iraq, who was home on leave,

Lake Havasu City - Havasu Chapter

Havasu Chapter has been very busy this fall. We continue to attend the funerals of Veterans, honoring Veterans for their

service. In September, we participated in our city‘s first Naturalization Ceremony, witnessing nine servicemen become Unit-

ed States citizens, and presenting ―New Citizen‖ kits to these newest citizens. We honored our Veterans during Patriot Days

placing a wreath at the ―Traveling Wall.‖ Regent Sharon Eaton coor-

dinated a special program on Women Veterans attended by many

Havasu Daughters. In October, the Regent and 1st Vice Regent Mary

Lou Tudor-Hayes attended the city‘s Dedication Ceremony which rec-

ognized the tree that Havasu Chapter had planted for Arbor Day as

part of the Keep Havasu Beautiful program. At our October meeting,

we celebrated the Statue of Liberty‘s birthday with a special program

by Honorary Chapter Regent Connie Lautenbach. In November,

Havasu Chapter participated in the Veterans Day parade and cere-

mony and in the Flag Retirement ceremony where over 3500 Ameri-

can flags were properly retired. Havasu Chapter collected seventy-six

shirts for Project Patriot, has sent care packages to servicepersons

in Afghanistan, and has sent many donations to Prescott VA Hospi-

tal. November‘s chapter meeting brought Honorary State and Chap-

ter Regent Jo Andress with her informative program on DAR Schools.

A special highlight to our November meeting was the presentation,

by U.S. Air Force veteran Sherry Sims, of a United States flag which

was aboard an MQ-1 Predator drone in missions over Afghanistan.

In presenting the flag and autographed pictures of the aircraft, Sims cited our Chapter‘s work in the construction of the DAR

Historical Marker and Monument at Site Six, on-going efforts in support of Veterans, as well as our efforts to support histori-

cal preservation, education, and patriotism. Havasu Chapter wishes all Daughters the very special joys of the Christmas

Litchfield Park — Copper State Chapter

COPPER STATE CHAPTER starts our year off in October. Our chapter

was organized in 2003 and in seven years, we have grown to forty-two

members. We are proud to boast; our hospitality is always welcoming to

prospective members and visitors. One of the Regent‘s Projects has

been accomplished. The beautiful site marker was dedicated on No-

vember 11, 2010 by the Hollie Orme Thomas Society C.A.R. in honor of

N.S.C.A.R. marking a tree planted January 21, 1995 in Pioneer and Mili-

tary Memorial Cemetery, Phoenix. Copper State Chapter N.S.D.A.R. sup-

ported this plaque with a monetary donation to cover two thirds of the

cost. It was a joint effort to make sure this tree was marked with a

plaque that can withstand the Arizona weather.

The program at our October meeting was given my Margaret ―Peggy‖

Sinclair Hurd, Past Treasurer General, Past Vice President General and

Honorary State Regent. She spoke on ―Protocol, Insignia, Pins and

Stuff‖ and took the fear of the ‗Pin Police‘ away from our members. We had lots of laughs over the right and wrong way to

do things.

November brought Lee T. Nelson, Past Project Patriot Chairman, down to the Valley from the cold up north in Chino Valley.

She spoke on ―Flags of the United States – A History Lesson‖. Lee had our daughters learning so much about ―Old Glory‖

that we did not know. The simple act of flying a flag 365 days a year or giving one to a child at a parade shows our patriot-

ism and how proud we are to be Americans.

December will bring Jo Beaver Andres, Honorary State Regent, to our Christmas Party in the home of a member. Jo‘s music

will fill the air and the spirit of the Season will ring out. We have a great time with a Chinese Auction and the taste of home

as members bring a covered dish to pass. We at Copper State wish each Daughter in Arizona and across the World a very

Joyous Christmas Season and a Blessed New Year.

Paradise Valley - Paradise Valley Chapter

The Paradise Valley sisters welcomed fourteen new members in September

and have grown their numbers by four more members since then. We

named three past chapter regents as honorary regents: Gretchen Gillespie

Lovell (2000-2004), Kathryn Tucker Eskesen (2004-2006) and Susan Gal-

lagher Krecker (2006-2009).

In October, we were impressed by speakers Kathy Laurier and her sister

Barbara Shaw from the women‘s affairs at the Veteran‘s Hospital. They do a

phenomenal job of tracking female veterans who are pregnant or just had

babies. Our chapter put together a basket of baby items and treats for the

new moms. We held a book sale to raise money for Project Patriot programs and donated more than 200 books that didn‘t

sell to the library at the Veteran‘s Hospital. They were so thrilled to get them, as the books they had were so old.

Souper Salad restaurant graciously let us hold a fundraiser on Veteran‘s Day with 10% of their proceeds that evening being

donated also to our Project Patriot programs. We collected and donated over 75 pounds of food to the Paradise Valley food

bank in November. We mailed 5 packages from home to the unit of Travis Hammer serving on the USS Lake Chaplain CG.

We‘ll be participating with other DAR sisters, SAR and CAR on Wreaths Across America on December 11, 2011 at the Na-

tional Cemetery at Cave Creek & Pinnacle Peak.

Upcoming speakers will be on Dealing with Stress, given by three of our chapter members. We will have a Chapter fundrais-

er on Writing Your Family History. Mike Jones of the Sons of the American Revolution will speak to us about SAR. In April,

our chapter regent‘s husband, Robert Rearley will speak on The Fight for America‘s Independence.

Phoenix - Camelback Chapter

Camelback Chapter is on the move! Our Registrar and Membership Chairman are busy keeping up with our prospective

list of about 20. We hosted a very successful genealogy workshop given by State Membership Chairman Elizabeth Chain

and Beverly Hayes-Harnett, Regent of Cactus Wren Chapter.

In September, Alex Cooper our chapter Recording Secretary and State Resolutions Chairman was named Camelback‘s Out-

standing Junior. State Regent Stephanie Troth was on hand to present Alex her certificate. In October, we proudly pre-

sented Honorary Regent Ann Poulos her 25 year member certificate.

We have attended several National Guard ―Welcome Home‖ ceremonies in Phoenix and shipped monthly boxes to our

troops overseas. We‘ve adopted a military base in England and are sending clipped food and non-food coupons for mili-

tary families to use.

A new event for us was the Red, White, and True Blue Heroes constitution event in November at Christown Spectrum mall.

Camelback handed out bookmarks, patriotic coloring pages, crayons, and historic literature. Veterans are not forgotten.

We‘ve delivered coats to the homeless program at Carl T Hayden VA, and supported entry registration for the annual Vet-

erans Day Parade.

Camelback elves are preparing to grant all of the Christmas wishes for the veterans in the wing that we have adopted at

the Arizona Veterans Home! Contributions continue to the Arizona Literacy Center, and coupons, labels and yogurt caps

are pouring in for the DAR Schools and Susan G Komen. Speaking of that, two Camelback daughters walked with the DAR-

lings at the Race for the Cure! Dorine Douglas continues to publish our outstanding newsletter. A new website has just

Chapters Phoenix - Maricopa Chapter

Maricopa Chapter is pleased to announce that two of its daughters,

who just happen to be mother and daughter, have recently co-

authored two books. Chapter Regent, Donna Reiner, co-authored

Tovrea Castle, which is published by Arcadia Publishing. Della Tovrea

Stuart, coincidentally, was a member of the General George Crook

DAR Chapter. Deanna Carlson, a brand new DAR member, co-

authored Beyond the Clouds with six other women. All the proceeds

from that book are being donated to the Ovarian Cancer Research

Fund.

Christa Hughes and a friend have set forth to photograph all the grave

markers at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona and post them

on the FindAGrave.com website. She has already photographed and

posted nearly 400 of the 58,000 markers in that cemetery. We com-

Yavapai Chapter was honored to buy a brick in the ―WALK OF HONOR‖ for the MILITARY SERVICE MONUMENT in Prescott Val-

ley, located in the grassy park area between the Library and the Police Station. November 11, 2010 marked the dedication

and unveiling of this striking brick walk that has been in the works for several years.

The Chapter has been busy collecting T-shirts, socks, lap blankets and sundries for the December 17 Christmas Party for the

residents of the Domiciliary, located on the grounds of Bob Stump VA Medical Center. We are still honored to serve the resi-

dents of the Community Living Center, the Hospital, Hospice, and Dementia Units with cookies, donuts and McDonalds good-

October bells rang for laudable causes and happy sur-

prises. Project Patriot chairman, Dianne Cobb, collected

and mailed over 100 personal care items to Landstuhl

Regional Medical Center. We were the Most Walkers on

the DARlings in Pink Team , Wickenburg October 9

breast cancer walk, and at Fall Board we won the Early

Bird Award for reporting on the electronic Master Ques-

tionnaire.

Gaily we announced a new Chapter brochure and web-

site in November and donated to the noble work of the

Veterans Airlift Command. Neal Jennings, Pets on

Wheels CEO, spoke at our November meeting to share

the merry health benefits of pets to their owners and

those in nursing homes.

December pealed in with the accolade of VIS Website of the Month and our annual holiday auction. Rick Ross‘s Shadow

Mountain High School Matador Misses caroled us with crystal tones and an unforgettable, interactive Twelve Days of Christ-

mas.

Let the good news ring on, as we hail 2011. In January Insignia chairman, Patti Godber, and vice chairman, Rubee Parlett,

show us the right way to wear our Society pins and sashes. In February we turn our focus to trauma care training for military

personnel in conflicts abroad, and March brings the promise of another rousing Awards Assembly and a tribute to Arizona‘s

historic trees.

Scottsdale - Major Winfied Scott Chapter

Remember the days when we knew all the neighbors on the block where we

lived? Could greet all members of our monthly club meetings by their first

names? The members of the newly formed Major Winfield Scott NSDAR Chap-

ter in Scottsdale, AZ decided they needed to get to know what made each

other ―tick‖.

A quilting bee of members who wanted to learn to quilt and share with one

another every day topics of family, politics and community, began meeting

before the summer of 2009. Applique lessons were started at the Quilted

Apple store in Phoenix and then members selected a pattern of Arizona flora

using batik fabrics to assemble a story depicting the beauty of the Arizona

desert.

While laughing over threading a needle and pricked fingers, friendships were

formed among the group which encompassed all ages. Setting our goals to

strengthen friendships, we accomplished camaraderie not to be forgotten.

Members of the group learned of each others every day roles, hopes, frustra-

tions and goals. Inadvertently, we have become one another‘s advocates!

Wouldn‘t our ancestors be proud that not only do we continue to promote

patriotism and preserving American history within our communities and chapter but we continue to value one another with

encouragement and support, much as our ancestors relied on one another! By Barbara Hanson, Historian

Sierra Vista - Tombstone Chapter

As the regent of Tombstone Chapter I have been busy the last few months. Our chapter took part in the constitution Day

celebration at Walter J. Meyer School in Tombstone and at our regular meeting. The students impressed us with their

memorization of the Preamble to the Constitution and performing the Constitution Rap. My membership committee has

been hard at work. The committee held a tea for prospective members on November 27. We had several prospective

members attend the tea. One membership packet has been sent in for verification and three more should be sent in short-

ly. We have welcomed three new members and are waiting for two more to approved. We are supporting the Good Citizen-

ship, American essay contest, Woman in American History, and Community Service projects and contests. December 4,

2010 is our annual Christmas luncheon. We look forward to a good turnout of our members. We will have an ornament

exchange, good food, and great fellowship.

Sun City - Agua Fria Chapter

Agua Fria Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, Sun City, held their

49th Birthday with lunch at Tivoli's Restaurant. Meeting opened with the DAR

Ritual. Guest speaker was Betsy Ross, portrayed by

Carol Capper an associate member working on the flag by the table, which

shows a picture of Betsy Ross (see photo on right). Carol's home chapter is Go-

shen Mill, Maryland. Carol told the story, and life of Betsy Ross. What a won-

derful history was given to all. She told how Betsy sewed for George Washing-

ton, helped design Old Glory, suggesting using a 5 point star instead of 6, as it

was easier to cut as a seamstress, and told why the original flag stars were in a

circle. Carol as pictured is working on a flag for her family, as shown in pic-

ture. She told us the history of the flag she was working on.

Report of 3 members and 4 associates attended State Board of Management in

October . Our chapter had 2 State chairmanship displays, State Chairman of

Americanism, Marion James and State Chairman Friends of the Library, Carol

Childress. Report of Window display for Veterans Day, Dec. 7, 1941 honoring

Veterans from Arizona as well as all veterans. The work day was on Dec. 3,

2010, so we could finish all the veterans ditty bags and more. Work day will be

held at 9:30 to 12 at Sun City HOA where we normally have our Board meet-

ing. All members that can help to get them completed was asked to attend.

Plans were told of activities for the coming 50th Birthday celebration in

2011. Introduction of new associate member Fran Morris . Meeting adjourned

with all singing God Bless America.

Sun City West - Estrella Chapter

During Estrella Chapter‘s November meeting, Sally Williamson was installed as Regent, since Ellen Huck had to resign due

to health reasons. Carol Kennedy has stepped in as Vice Regent to fill Sally‘s previous position. Pamela Ann Miller is our

new Treasurer resulting from the resignation of Beverly Owens.

In honor of Veterans‘ Month, it was our pleasure to have Major John Henry, a Vietnam War Veteran, as our guest speaker for

November. John served as Aide-de-Camp to Brigadier General Joseph Stilwell Jr., head of U.S. Army Special Forces. He

spoke on behalf of Boots for Our Troops, a non-profit organization that supports our Arizona Veterans. A founding member of

the organization, John currently serves on the board of Boots for Our Troops. Throughout his retirement he has tirelessly

volunteered his services to help military veterans and their families. During our meeting, John was presented $262 and 204

pairs of white socks for distribution to Arizona Veterans. John‘s wife, Ellen, was in attendance. Colonel Anthony Saputo,

(U.S. Air Force Retired) and his wife, Rosemary, were special guests. In 2009 he received the Veteran‘s Award from both the

Estrella Chapter and Arizona State. He distributed U.S. flags to all attendees. The Chapter also recognized our own Veteran

Rosamond Naylor, who served as Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Women‘s Reserve during World War II.

Fifty years ago Del Webb‘s Sun City changed retirement for seniors throughout the country. The Estrella Chapter is located in

the Sun Cities area and is a proud member of the Sun Cities Museum. In honor of the Del Webb Sun Cities 50th Anniversary,

Chapter Officers R. J. Doria, Sally Williamson and Ellen Huck presented the museum with two place settings of Franciscan

China. The Desert Rose pattern complements their kitchen‘s 1960‘s style décor. As part of our commitment to Historic

Preservation of our Sun Cities innovative community, we will continue to support the museum. Our next project will enhance

their landscaping by planting rosebushes. In December the Estrella Chapter is looking forward to our Annual Christmas Tea

which is hosted by the chapter‘s Executive Board. It is a special occasion to celebrate the season and the special bonds we

share with one another as DAR members. In January 2011 the Chapter is holding a workshop and reception for prospective

members. Chapter members will be available to answer research questions, review the application process and provide in-

formation about the DAR and the Estrella Chapter.

Sun Lakes - Gila Butte Chapter

Holiday greetings to all! Gila Butte is ringing with news! State Regent Steph-

anie Troth graced us with a visit in October, and welcomed our prospective

and new members. Thanks, Madame Regent, and thank God for answered

prayers on your successful surgery!

In November, Outstanding Junior Shara Forrister introduced the 2012 DAR

doll, and we were pleased to meet Shara‘s 18-inch protégée "Miss Sharlot".

Shara is a doll in her own right! Shara enriched our knowledge of the Juniors

program. During October and November, Gila Butte‘s Membership Commit-

tee fielded booths at four local activities fairs, where we spoke with hundreds

of people about the good works of DAR. With the enormous variety of DAR

projects to draw on, we learned to talk fast!

Honoring our State Regent‘s dedication to uniformed civil servants, Gila Butte

collected funds to purchase grocery gift cards for our firefighters‘ holiday

meals. We made the presentation to Capt. Paul Wilson and wished all our

firefighters a happy and healthy holiday season. We also presented an award

to our October speaker Col. James Hecker for his work with Community Ac-

tion Program (CAP). CAP supports our local firefighters and sheriff, and several Gila Butte Daughters volunteer each week,

bringing comfort and strength to neighbors in crisis.

Melodious bells of the season bring us joy, and none more than our own Liberty Bell. Gila Butte wishes all our sis-

ter chapters a blessed time with family and loved ones!

Tucson - El Presidio Chapter

Happy Holidays from El Presidio Chapter. We are busy getting ready for the Season like everyone else and on our things ‗to

do list‘ is visits our local fire stations and police / sheriff substations. Three of us spent a few hours last month doing that

fun thing (photo attached). We surprised quite a few folks on duty when we showed up with a plate full of ‗goodies‘. We

even told then they didn‘t have to share with the next shift. The regent saw one of her former high school students, now a

fire department employee. We will do this again this month and next. We will be greeting new members to our chapter

this month with our annual cookie and book exchange (December). All ―leftovers will be taken to the Southern Arizona

Veterans Center in Tucson. We look forward to both our student essays and our Flag Retirement Ceremony in February.

We wish you all a happy and healthy Holiday Season.

As the Tucson Chapter NSDAR approaches our 96th birthday, we continue our traditions. We give an annual University of

Arizona Nursing Scholarship to a deserving nursing student. We welcome new citizens at the Immigration Ceremonies. Our

grade and middle school essay contest winners, good citizen, and outstanding history teacher receive a certificate and a

monetary prize. Active duty and military veterans are always remembered by a group of volunteers from our Chapter. We

are conducting new members' meetings to familiarize them with NSDAR and our Chapter. These are only a few of the ex-

citing activities happening within the Tucson Chapter.
