We had another great Thanksgiving Dinner at the Forney Museum with the Conestoga Chapter. Thank

You to Christof Kheim for again opening up the museum for our Thanksgiving dinner and meeting. The

year 2013 is about over and what a year it was. With all the great club events and topped off by the Inter-

national Meet in Colorado Springs. Next year promises to be just as active with our Zone Coordinator,

Chuck Donkle, reporting that the 2014 zone meet will be held in conjunction with the Labor Day Weekend

Event in Custer, South Dakota. The Dakota Chapter always does a great job with this annual event and in

2014 will include the zone meet. If you have never been to Custer for labor day, this would be the year to

attend. The Conestoga chapter has announced that it will host the zone meet in 2015. It is in the early

planning stages and I will post more information as it becomes available.

I want to wish everyone a happy and safe holiday season.

Rick

A note from Joann Beldt

On behalf of my mother, Maxine Beldt, thank you, Conestoga Chapter, for the beautiful Fall bouquet. The arrangement is gorgeous and she enjoys it every day. Mom is gradually getting stronger each day but we have a very cautious outlook. She definitely is showing what “Irish determination” and true grit are all about. No wonder her generation is called the Greatest Generation. Hopefully she’ll be well enough to come to the Christmas dinner since it is so close to our neighborhood this year. Cordially, the Beldt Family.

The car on this months cover is the beautiful 1958 Packard Hawk

owned by Carey & Peggy Dietz. Carey is a staple at many Conestoga

events and is also the “unofficial” club photographer. Carey submits

many of the pictures that are used in the Western Outlook throughout

the year.

Thanks Carey for sharing your photography skills with us all.

Western Wheels Dec. 2013

The Western Wheels Chapter had their regular meeting on November 9th at the King Buffet in

Scottsbluff. Members present were Don & Betty Steinwart; Mary Miller; Perry Meyers; Dallas & Lu-

cille Whiting; and Stuart Tritt.

We had many minutes of silence due to trying to have election of officers and finally tabled to the

December meeting. We did manage to get some business planned for the future. The Christmas

party will be Saturday, December 14th at Don & Betty Steinwart’s and we are going to have a “Bake-

off” between Don and his daughter Tracy as to who makes the best cookies. We again will be col-

lecting personal care products to give to the Doves of Scotts Bluff County and/or money. January

2014 meeting will be on the 11th at El Charrito Restaurant. February meeting will again be the men’s

annual soup supper at the Gering Library on the 8th. March meeting will on the 8th hosted by Don &

Betty Steinwart, place to be determined.

We finished up the meeting by putting together puzzles of the front cover of the latest Studebaker

International Christmas Catalog, provided by Lucille Whiting. It was very entertaining.

I mentioned in last month’s Western Outlook about the possibility of having a joint Studebaker meet

in conjunction with the Kearney Cruise Night in Kearney, Nebraska. The Kearney Cruise Night is a

week-long affair and finishes up on Saturday, July 19th and past cruise nights have had in excess of

300 vehicles. I will have a flyer ready to go next month that can be distributed to the various Stu-

debaker Chapters in the region and posted in the Western Outlook. We are planning a Friday 18th

arrival and departing on Sunday the 20th. Planned activities are possible dinner together on Friday

night then either participate or just watch the cruise. Tours on Saturday of the Taulborg Classic Car

Collection (200+ on display) and the Kearney Arch and participate however we individually want in

the car show in downtown Kearney. I have set aside a block of rooms at the Microtel at very reason-

able rates for this busy weekend.
