Barcelona March 15th – 20th 2015 Barcelona has long been a hotbed of creativity and independent thinking: home of groundbreaking artists Picasso, Miro and Dali, and the brilliantly original, architect Antoni Gaudi. In cuisine, Ferran Adria is considered the most innovative chef in the world in history. In fashion, Desigual, Custo, and Camper are innovators in color, asymmetry, and style. Buildings such as the gold, fish-‐shaped Arts Hotel, Jean Nouvel’s Torre Agbar, the colored tile roof of Santa Catarina Market, and the Palace of Music, all have made Barcelona a world-‐class center of architectural innovation. Barcelona shouts with innovative, original, independent design thinking in all creative fields and so it was selected as the perfect city for an Inventours™ innovation inspiration program.
Sunday March 15th
7:30 – 9:30 PM Visit to Antoni Gaudi’s Casa Batlló Casa Batlló showcases the multi-‐talented creative genius of Antoni Gaudí, the most internationally renowned figure in Catalan Modernism architecture. Gaudí innovated in architecture, art, carpentry, engineering and furniture design, to create this unparalleled showpiece. It’s a perfect way to kick off the multi-‐disciplinary innovation theme of Inventours.
Group Welcome Dinner: Boca Grande Beautifully prepared, classic Spanish seafood dishes with innovative new twists, in an unusual atmosphere. The group welcome dinner, hosted by Inventours founder, Michelle Greenwald, enables participants to get to know each other before the exciting week begins.
Monday March 16th 8:30 – 9:00 Breakfast & Introduction to Program Objectives & Agenda 9:00 – 10:00 Presentation by Barcelona Activa & Tour of High Tech District @22 An overview of how Barcelona has methodically created a part of the city dedicated to entrepreneurship and innovative new technology, including a new business incubator, presented by Barcelona Activa, the group responsible for this transformation. Its model is being emulated around the world. The industrial design genius who collaborated with Ferran Adriá (5 times selected “Best Restaurant in the World” for El Bulli) to create one-‐of-‐a-‐kind utensils and dishware to enhance each dish in a 35-‐course menu. His work, at the intersection of design and gastronomy, has been exhibited at the Pompidou Center in Paris. Luki taught design in Switzerland and Spain, and developed products for firms including Lekue, Cerebella & Xocoa. He’ll speak about his “Manual Thinking” technique that fosters creative teamwork.

One of Barcelona’s most innovative architectural projects, the colorful, undulating tile design by Enric Miralles and Benedetta Tagliabue has transformed a dour Neoclassical fresh-‐food market into a flying carpet of brilliant colors. The reconstruction of the Santa Caterina Market—and the architect’s urban renewal plan for the streets around it—have brought life and light into this neighborhood within Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter.
