Fall Risk AssessmentAs we age, our balance decreases and we become more prone to falls. More than 1/3 of adults age 65 and older fall each year. These falls can result in serious injury. Our exercise physiologists, along with therapists from the NeuroRehab and Balance Center, will provide this screening to determine your fall risk. Education on how to improve balance and safety will also be discussed. Appointments will last approximately 20 minutes.

Please note: If you use a cane or a walker, or have already been diagnosed with a balance problem, this maynot be an appropriate assessment. Please make this known at time of registration.

YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program Are you at risk for developing Type 2 diabetes? The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that more than 86 million Americans (one in three) currently have pre-diabetes, but 89% of them don’t know it.

If a doctor has diagnosed you with pre-diabetes or you have multiple risk factors for developing Type 2 diabetes, the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program can help you adopt healthy lifestyle changes that have been shown to reduce the risk of developing diabetes. Available through the YMCA of Greater Dayton, this evidence-based national program aims to help participants reduce their risk of diabetes by losing a modest amount of weight and increasing physical activity.

You will need:¾ cup quinoa1/3 cup diced red onion1 Tablespoon red wine vinegar

1 large navel orange1 Tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil½ avocado, diced

¼ cup roasted unsalted sunflower seeds½ teaspoon kosher salt

Instructions1. Prepare the quinoa according to package directions, allow to cool.
