AFFORDABLE HAPPINESS

Site is small; there are also restrictions of protected buildings and trees as well as the private properties which cannot be touched.

The project focuses on utilize the limited site as well as explore the potential of the existing buildings. Thus, a additional new part has been added on the building A and turn the narrow double loaded building to a more comfortable scale; and the rooftop add-on levels on building B provide a community gar-dening space.

Also, given the tight budget of low- income housing project, while keep the houses simple and nice, design intend to create a high quality public space.

Design focuses on maintain the existing texture and active use of the unused space, in order to respond to the history architectures and become a permanent part of neighborhood history.
