Why Benoy?
Benoy prides itself on its ability to work with clients to exceed their architectural aspirations and to deliver innovative, cutting edge design solutions to commercial challenges that consistently delight and engage, whilst delivering higher than average returns on investment. In particular Benoy;
• Offers a dedicated team of professionals with proven experience of designing and delivering successful large scale mixed-use projects around the world.
• Has a network of strategically positioned international design offices that actively encourage the ongoing exchange of experiences, information and personnel.
• Has numerous long-term relationships with the industry’s leading players with whom we have mutually beneficial relationships in relation to knowledge sharing.
• Hand picked teams are selected on the basis of matching client needs with individuals’ specialist skills.
• Approaching schemes from an architectural perspective allows for truly integrated design.
Benoy is consistently ranked as one of the world’s most successful commercial architectural practices.
We are recognised for the richness of our imagination, drawing inspiration from around the world and from disciplines beyond the built environment. We would also like to be known for our values and our beliefs, what makes us tick and keeps us keen, our standards and our passion – we never settle for the obvious and cannot accept the adequate; we always look to go beyond. Much of our work arrives by word of mouth, often by personal recommendation, but perhaps one of our most rewarding sources of new work is repeat business. Why do our clients keep coming back?
One reason is simply because they find us good to work with. The solutions we create not only marry vision with viability, but do so in ways that show we really listen to what our clients have to say. They like the way we present our ideas vividly, the way we work with both speed and precision and the way we express ourselves clearly, the way our ideas combine practicality and profitability whilst achieving real aesthetic impact.
Responsible Practice & Sustainability
Responsible Practice
As Architects, Masterplanners and Designers, we have the opportunity to create more than buildings. We create communities. These projects can shape the development of the wider area and contribute to the strength of the region. Whether it is rejuvenating city centres or introducing a new concept to undeveloped land, we can bring transformational change that emphasises the commercial, social and environmental potential of a city. These projects can affect everything from energy management to improving infrastructure and we constantly strive to share our creativity and ethics in the most appropriate form.
The communities we deliver integrate into the local area. We seek to complement existing facilities, so work closely alongside the local population and business network to enhance what is already available rather than overpower the individuality of the market.
As our practice has expanded, we have found that it is fundamental to recruit locally and work with established institutions. This means Benoy can offer international expertise that is supported by local knowledge.
Constantly underpinned by Best Practice, this programme of ethics governs us as a corporate citizen and guides our non-negotiable standard of behaviour, setting performance bench-marks across the board.
Our Best Practice reflects how we conduct our business and makes us accountable for the socio-economic and environmental impact of all our projects.
Sustainability
A key feature of the ‘Benoy Offer’ is sustainability.
We work closely with our clients and providers of expert knowledge to deliver more sustainable design solutions, relevant to the unique context of each project. Responsible design practice and sustainability is promoted by building on experience, encouraging education, the recruitment of new and complementary skills and, where necessary, collaboration with external experts.
We work hard to ensure that the benefits of our projects are measurable and lasting. Our work is designed to fulfil client expectations but never at the expense of the local community.
We believe in leading by example. By improving the urban environment in which we live, we can leave a legacy of which we can be proud.

Our Relevant Experience
The following pages include a selection of our recent projects.
Situated at the heart of the Causeway Bay shopping district, Hysan Place sits above the MTR Island Line and creates a landmark destination in this prime retail district.
The project includes 17 levels with two internal atria and event spaces. The retail has been positioned at the lower level, designed with a crisp and neutral interior design. A distinctive Food and Beverage oasis is located on Levels 11 to 15 designed with calming wood tones offer a relaxing environment.
Internally, bold organic geometries are applied with a subtle monochrome palette with the purpose of drawing shoppers upwards in a journey of exploration. To add this to the sense of exploration graphics and graphical artwork have been used throughout the space in unusual ways.
As a LEED Platinum standard installation, the first of its kind in Hong Kong, great care has been given in the selection of all materials, to position Hysan Place at the forefront of shopping centre design.

This landmark development has created a new destination for Hong Kong. The mall connects seamlessly to the MTR station below, with direct links to the International Airport and Central Hong Kong, and the 19 high-rise residential and office towers above.
Elements mall was designed a Retail and Leisure destination to draw people to this new area, and more importantly to work as a hub to unite the distinctly different aspects of the Mixed-Use development.
The design draws on ancient Chinese symbols assocaited with nature - Metal, Fire, Water, Wood and Earth. These have been incorporated into the scheme for each ‘zone’, through the materials, finishes, signage and public art on desiplay. This has achieved a design forward interior which also addresses orientation concerns within the site.
The podium roof was designed to offer tranquile landscaped gardens, a children’s adventure park and a vibrant open plaza surrounded by alfresco dinning offerings. .

The retail podium offers luxury and flagship retail, entertainment and a food and beverage terrace featuring international cuisine, al fresco dining and a sculpture garden.

The flagship shopping podium is flanked by premium Grade-A office buildings, a five-star hotel and luxury residential. With this mixed-used environment, the development provides an attractive new hub to attract a wide range of customers and visitors.
After opening in January 2014, Chengdu IFS has established itself as a new landmark and benchmark for the city and western China.

Applying masterplanning principles, Benoy delivered the INDIGO development with a design that injects vitality into this business and leisure hub in the upcoming district of Chaoyang in Beijing.
The 175,000m2 mixed-use scheme includes 68,000m² of Retail, a 369 room high-end business hotel, and 58,000m² of international Grade A office space.
The development also features 18,000m² of below-ground Retail and 1,400 parking bays.
The overall plan has been designed to complement the natural assets of the area – the parkland and the river. Benoy worked with landscape designers and park design specialists to facilitate alfresco entertainment and F&B in a landscaped park on the eastern side of the site.
Within the retail mall, a striking multi-purpose event space, the Winter Garden, is covered by a sweeping free form monocoque roof with a cable-net supported glass curtain wall, offering a smooth transition between the mall and the outdoor park.

The Shanghai ICC scheme represents the future of mixed-use developments in the city with two iconic commercial towers and a residential tower, all connected with an award-winning, seven-storey retail podium.
This prestigious development has drawn inspiration from Shanghai’s cultural heritage. Taking design cues from the traditional Shikumen façade architecture and the tree-lined streets of the district, Benoy has layered this modern scheme with the rich texture of Shanghai’s urban fabric.
On the podium levels, large and open terraces provide stunning views over the bustling Huai Hai Road and unique dining and entertainment spaces. Complementing the outdoor space, landscaped ‘sunken’ and ‘winter’ gardens have been incorporated into the scheme.
Below, the ‘Fifth Avenue’ leads visitors through two basement retail levels to the MTR connection - offering access to a three-line interchange station sitting directly underneath the development.

This 85,000m² scheme is set in the heart of the Pudong financial district of Shanghai. In response to it’s surroundings Benoy created an exciting and contemporary interior scheme with direct links to the Pearl Tower and MTR underground.
The development houses six levels of retail; with four levels of premium luxury retail and two levels featuring food courts and a supermarket.
The interior design is inspired by the visual play between angles and curves and the angular skylight contrasts with the fluid layout of the retail space.
Suspended crystal sculptures and high-quality materials give the interior a feeling of opulence and luxury.
Shoppers can move quickly between floors with the help of express escalators to the fifth level, where fine dining restaurants open out onto landscaped terraces offering breathtaking views of the Bund. Two hotels, two office towers and a Winter Garden link to the mall directly.

The Westgate development has been designed to create a dynamic mixed-use scheme for West Singapore. Offering a diverse mix of retail, leisure and 150m high-rise commercial tower with seamless transport links and urban parks, the development will create a vibrant heart to Jurong.
Landscaping is a key design feature in the scheme, reflecting the heritage of the site. Using sculptural planting to enhance landscape and feature palms to create visual statements. Vertical greenery was integrated into the façade design to add to the visual aesthetic and green feeling of the building .
The fine grainded architectural language of the low-rise part of the development is juxtaposed against the modern urbanity of the office tower and the more modern retail mall. A semi-open landscape street separates the fine-grained architecture from the rest of the development, also serving as a place for the community to gather in unique green spaces.
