Archimedes Steel Wire Rope Pulleys Data Sheet

Key Features Archimedes Pulleys are designed and manufactured by Global Stage Engineering Ltd. in Suffolk, UK. All Archimedes Pulleys comply to BS EN 17206:2020 Entertainment technology. Machinery for stages and other production areas. Safety requirements and inspections. Archimedes Pulleys also meet the requirements of ANSI E1.4-1 - 2016, Entertainment-Technology—Manual Counterweight Rigging Systems. Archimedes Steel Wire Rope Pulleys meet the Consultant tender pulley specification of a minimum D:d ratio of 30:1.

All Archimedes Pulley sheaves are manufactured from Acetal providing excellent wear resistance, mechanical strength, stiffness and good fatigue resistance under static load. All Archimedes Steel Wire Rope Pulleys rotate on sealed deep groove ball bearings, that are specified to take the unequal load applied to the drop pulley. Static, Dynamic and Axial loads, fatigue and lifetime calculations have been taken into account in bearing selection. The bearings are supported directly on an EN8 machined axle that transfers the load directly into the side plates via a 20mm diameter. The axle is held against axial and rotational forces and ensures the correct torque so that the bearings cannot be over-tightened. Archimedes Steel Wire Rope Pulleys are available in 1 Way to 9 Way groove configurations.

Archimedes Steel Wire Rope Pulleys are engineered to an extremely high standard - 150mm and 200mm for 6mm SWR can also be used as Head Block Pulleys with a 1,000kg SWL. Archimedes Pulleys are stocked in 150mm diameter with 6mm SWR grooves, 200mm diameter with 6mm SWR grooves and 200mm diameter with 8mm SWR grooves. Customer sheave diameters from 100mm to 260mm are available upon request. Steel Wire Rope groove profiles are available for 4mm, 3/16”, 5mm, 6mm, 1/4”, 5/16” and 8mm. Metric SWR sizes have a 50° groove profile, Imperial SWR sizes have a 30° groove profile. Other groove profiles are available upon request. All Archimedes Pulleys are designed and manufactured to a 10:1 safety factor. All pulleys and fittings are labelled with their Safe Working Load. Archimedes Pulleys are offered with a 24 Month Warranty.*

Mounting Global Stage Engineering manufacture a range of fittings to compliment the Archimedes Pulley range. Multi Way Fixing Angles are available in two sizes, to suit beam flanges of 75mm to 155mm & 155mm to 330mm. Girder Dogs to the specified flange thickness are included. Multi Way Fixing Angles can be used to mount pulleys above or below the beams, with variable positioning of the pulley block in the angles to suit the exact drop point. Multi Way Fixing Angles can also be used to mount pulleys directly to a suitable surface such as a concrete slab. Mountings can also be supplied to attach Archimedes Pulleys to structural tubes in either a parallel or perpendicular orientation. *Warranty subject to a 12 month inpection regime and does not cover damage caused by improper use or overloading.
