Did you know about two programs that guarantee admission to CSU, UC, and other 4-year universities?

Transfer Admission Agreements (sometimes referred to as TAGs) offer guaranteed transfer admission to some California institutions (including UC campuses). ARC currently has agreements with University of the Pacific, UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Merced, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, and UC Santa Cruz.

The Associate Degree for Transfer (AA-T or AS-T) guarantees that students who earn an AA-T or AS-T degree and meet the CSU minimum eligibility requirements are guaranteed admission to a CSU (but not necessarily to a particular campus or major). ARC currently offers 21 of these degrees - with more coming!

the los Rios Student Access Card serves as a Regional transit pass

This allows students to use all public transit bus and light rail systems at a greatly reduced rate in Sacramento and Yolo counties (excluding Unitrans), El Dorado County, and the cities of Folsom and Elk Grove.

Your transit pass is good seven days a week, from August 1 through December 31, and from January 1 through May 31.

Here are some tips for success if you are new to college – or returning after being away for a while.

• Visit a college counselor at least once a semester to ensure that you are on track with your goals. Speak to your counselor about your classes to ensure that what you are taking aligns to your career or transfer pathway.

• Never wait until the last minute to ask for help from staff or professors! Ask early and often when you are unsure of subject matter, or need help in areas of enrolling, petitions, career services and other issues that are of concern. Learn early to ask questions and advocate for yourself.

• Find time to study and use your time wisely.

• Learn about student support services and utilize those programs that would be beneficial to your success. Turn to page 6 of this publication for information on a few of those services.

• Understand and know add/drop dates so you will not be penalized with a “W” or non-passing grade.

• Believe that you are not alone and that resources and individuals are available to help you define and reach your goals. However, you will be the driving force to success.
