Introduction That was the poor victim of a horrible

accident, an experiment gone wrong.

Artificial Breeding occurs when we acquire opposite genders of the same specie and create parent plants, parent animals, and parents of the breeding system. (Breeding) When we select the mating animals, it is known as artificial selection. (Animal Breeding)

When we gather the mating animals, the process of injecting semen from the male into to the female takes place. In plants they inject the genes of one plant into another. This process is called artificial insemination, hence the semen.

Artificial breeding can take place in animals, plants and humans and is used to alter the DNA and genes of the parent to created an offspring with desired traits and characteristics.

Artificial selection is almost like an arranged marriage. We affect the love lives of animals and plants and choose their mate for them, unlike natural breeding where the plant or animal naturally finds a mate and reproduce.

Artificial breeding can be traced back all the way to 1322 A.D. when an Arabic chief matted two of his best horses to create an even better horse, probably critical for battle back then. (EDIS)

Recently, scientists in South China have released more than 26,000 artificially- bred animals into the wild in Nanhai City of the Guangdong Province. The animals released had helped endangered species in the area by effectively increasing the wildlife stock.(China)

Pros For human insemination, women who have trouble

with the process of giving birth can now have a baby. (Ehow)

When the DNA and genes of the parents are altered, the offspring can receive the combined traits and we and breed animals according to the desired trait.

Artificial breeding can assist the wildlife stock in certain areas with endangered species. (China)

The increase in the overall quality of the gene pool can result in an increase in traits like milk production, which helps nurture offspring (Pros).

Agricultural breeding can lead to new crops. The act of artificially breeding is almost like a forced

evolution.

Cons All the labs and technology used in order to stimulate

the process takes a lot of money. Any problems that can occur during insemination can

lead to a bigger problem including death for the animals/plants involved.

There are many health risks to human insemination such as multiple births, infection, Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome which causes ovaries to become swollen, STDs and other side effects. (Ehow)

The success of artificial breeding is not always guaranteed.

Artificially-bred animals become more domesticated and can have trouble fitting into the wild. (China)

Conclusion The hypothesis for this survey is that more people would disagree

with artificial breeding, than agreeing with it. This was partially correct.

The results show that more people believed that artificial breeding is bad, but they also believed that it should be aloud. This data might be corrupted for many reasons.

One reason is that the people that were surveyed might not have fully understood artificial breeding.

Another reason is that the people being surveyed might not have fully understood what the question asking.

To avoid this in the future it is important to give background information and to explain what the question is asking to the person being surveyed.
