Aquarian Newsletter #12

Dear Aquarian, I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend. The weekend was just what I needed. My family was able to get outside to do a bit of sledding on Saturday, and it was so nice to enjoy the sun and be together. Then on Sunday we spent some time getting ready for the week and just laying low. I encourage each of you to take some time to really be present with your family for your mental health and wellness. I didn't realize how much I need this weekend until I was sledding down a hill laughing and screaming with my kids. Take some time, over this week, to find some joy. This has been a very challenging nine months for everyone, and we all deserve and need a bit of happiness. Sincerely, Brittany The official newsletter of Aquarian Charter School Issue 1 Volume 12

It’s that time of year again…help show our support to our deployed troops! Last year our little school sponsored andfilled over 35 large, flat-rate boxes that were shipped to Afghanistan. The post office challenged me last year to see ifwe could break the record this year. However, due to Covid-19 and the strange circumstances we are all living innow, any boxes that we send out will be wonderful.

There are four ways you can support this effort:1. You can send in items (suggestions are below). There will be a collection box outside during the Friday materialpick up.2. You can pick up a flat rate box, fill it, and return it (boxes will be available outside on Friday also. Please do not tapethe top of the box.)3. You can pick up a box, fill it, and leave cash or check to sponsor the shipping of the box (19.60 each for APO boxes, please do not tape the top)4. You can simply leave cash or check to sponsor the shipment of a box ($19.60 each)

I have received letters in the past from deployed soldiers expressing their gratitude for the items. For many soldiers, this is their first time away from home and family. Let’s spread a little cheer and help show them how much weappreciate all that they do.

Suggestions for Boxes

PLEASE DO NOT SEND INAPPROPRIATE READING MATERIALS OR MOVIES OR PERISHABLE FOOD.If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Ms. Brenda. Thanks in advance for all your support!

Families,

This is the time of year when we usually start gearing up for the Spelling

Bee. This year we have no idea what the Bee will actually look like due to

Covid protocols, but I’d like to still get going on it. To that end I will be

holding a Zoom meeting for those students interested in competing

(however that looks) this year. From there, I will get names and they will

be enrolled in a Spelling Bee Canvas class where they will be able to find

word lists, and study tips. Also, I will be able to give out information as I

receive it. The meeting info is below:

Topic: Spelling Bee Zoom

Time: Nov 16, 2020 02:00 PM Alaska
